Focal Shape Twin Dual 5 Inch Powered Studio Monitor
Focal Shape Twin - The Benchmark of The Line This standard bearer of the Shape series features two passive radiators, woofers equipped with a new Flax cone, and the latest "M"-shaped Aluminium/Magnesium inverted dome tweeter. Perfect weapon of mass production for professionals. Shape Twin is made in France, just like Shape 40, 50 and 65. Designed to meet the needs of nearfield monitoring, these monitors combine an ingenuous design and numerous settings optimised for the acoustics of small listening rooms. Shape Twin stands out through its excellent rendering over the whole audio spectrum, its broad frequency response in the low end, and its high SPL considering its size. The compact design makes it easy to integrate even into the most cramped of rooms. Finally, its 2.5-way design gives it a real advantage when it comes to controlling the bass and lower mid-range registers which are the hardest to control in small rooms. Shape Twin's five innovations present a remarkable tonal balance, with very wide and precise stereo imaging. The low frequencies are well defined as well as controlled. The low-mid and mid ranges provide a true neutral sound.

Truly well balanced speaker. Have used focal for over 10 years now and have never felt ear fatigue by any of their products. This model is the best you can get in this price range and somewhat better than most even a couple hundred more. I have yet to find a bad thing to say about these and have never felt more comfortable with a pair of speakers.

Moving up from a pair of the Focal shape series. These sound familiar, but proportionally improved. The low end is there, and so far I haven’t considered adding a sub, either.

Love the monitors, but didn’t have the greatest AMS experience.Bought a “blemished” one and it looked like someone kicked it down the stairs. Had to wait about two weeks for return to go through before being able to get a new one, but the speakers are great, highly recommend!

Overall:First time Focal buyer. I was on the fence about buying a high end monitoring system, simply because of the price. However, when I finally pulled the trigger on these, I was far from disappointed. After the 10 hour burn in, these babies are smooth as butter. Incredible stereo image. Fantastic low and low mid response. Everything translates perfect with these monitors.Granted I do have bass traps and acoustic panels in my first reflection panels. I also placed them close to the back wall of my home studio. These things are perfect in every way (to me at least).Extremely happy and now a believer in Focal.
The Focal Twin Shaper studio monitors are hands down the best set of monitors I have ever used. For a smaller to mid studio sized room they Maintain an incredible detail, Percision and true musical accuracy. Even at very low volumes no detail is missed. I would highly recommend this product and purchasing through the knowledgeable sales people Sweetwater.
These were a much-needed upgrade from a pair of 5” budget studio monitors.First impressions are very positive. Fantastic stereo field, and no need to run a separate sub-woofer at all. They seem to work well in a pretty small room.I’m looking forward to using them for many years to come.
Over the past three years I have invested in equipment that will help me to create great recordings. I also built out a room that is as sonically neutral as I can get it to be. It finally dawned on me that the last missing link was improving my monitors. My previous monitors were JBL LSR4328s which include a room calibration function. Ben Robinson, my Sweetwater Sales Engineer, was invaluable in helping me to select the right monitors for my studio. After thoroughly discussing options from Genelec, Focal and ADAM, I decided on the Focal Twins. I am completely satisfied. As many have noted in previous reviews, breaking them in is very important. I know it is exciting to get new monitors and the tendency is to dig in right away. I know it is exciting to get new monitors and the tendency is to dig in right away. But, as Ben recommended, the break in period is critical to the overall performance of the monitors. Once you perform the break-in, you will be able to appreciate an enormous difference in imaging and frequency response across the entire spectrum. I have already remixed several of my songs as a result. Thanks to Ben for his patience and great advice!
amazing sound quality. was using krks before but would definitely recommend these as a better option if you're looking for a more professional mix on your tracks
Very good sound and everything good except the standby function is very annoying. If there are grills for protecting four side bass radiators are even better.
