Bought this alarm to replace the same one that failed after about a year and the replacement didn’t work out of the package. Avoid these alarms
Didn’t have any issues since installation right until last week when it malfunctioned and I had to disable it for the alarm to stop. This is just over 3 years after installation so the ten year claim is rubbish.
Bought it April 19. Apparently the 10 year battery was only a month old according to the date stamp inside. It's been an absolute nightmare. It'll go off for no reason whatsoever, I've deactivated and will buy reputable brand from a supplier of better quality products.
Bought three two years ago. Disabled one after a year due to persistent false alarms. Second started a low battery chirp after two - so not even close to ten. Third still going...
Joining in the rest of the folk stating this thing only lasts 2 years before giving false positives. I got nearly 3 years out of it.Would prefer to change the 9v battery occasionally like the old days, rather than be woken up at 4am by a fire alarm and no fire.
Installed this July 2020, which replaced another first alert alarm that lasted not even 12 month which also replaced another first alert alarm....all 3 have failed miserably. No fire no smoke just painful random going off even with gentle cleaning. Never will I ever purchase one of these alarms again.
Bought 7 just over a year and have had endless problems ever since. They randomly go off several times a day. All the company does us suggest they be cleaned … they would be the best cleaned smoke alarms is Brisbane now but that hasn’t stopped the problem!
