The finest grounds clogged my Gaggia Classic Pro, a testament how this grinder can really make great espresso and even probably Turkish coffee. The step-less size adjustment definitely needs getting used to but it’s perfect for making very small adjustments to your grind. Retention is close to zero. If you hesitate grinding in the morning with the fear of waking up sleeping folks, this one is for you: It’s amazingly quiet! Eureka did a really good job keeping its noise minimal. Downside? It’s quite an espresso focused grinder, which is perhaps not a downside for me but trust me, you don’t want to switch the grind size too often from coarse to fine and back. Since the size adjustment is step-less, you will likely lose track of your preferred grind setting when you ... MoreThe finest grounds clogged my Gaggia Classic Pro, a testament how this grinder can really make great espresso and even probably Turkish coffee. Get another grinder for coarser grinds or you risk wasting a lot of coffee. ;) But overall? A beast of an espresso grinder.

Magnets (not pre installed) didn't fit well, and caused destruction of the 3D printed items. Most magnets I had to super glue in to get them to stay in, others were so snug they caused separation in the layers of printing, and most did not sit flush, resulting in things being wobbly (the cup stand) Seller was VERY quick to respond to my message of dissatisfaction and told me this was a production issue and would ship out a replacement, magnets pre installed and checked. Replacement item arrived with magnets installed and no wobbles. However, there was some bowing out of the areas around the magnets on the tray. Borderline separation of layers. After much research and deliberation, I pulled the trigger on the Eureka Mignon Specialita. On initial unpacking, I was impressed with the weight of the machine which reassured me I had bought something built to last. Unfortunately the bean hopper is thin plastic so doesn’t match the quality of the unit itself. The display is crisp and clear but prove fiddly due to their touch design. Setting up the initial grind setting was time consuming, due to inexperience, ordinary instructions, and a dial that effectively free-spins—my major gripe, as I assumed it would have a min and max point but alas it does not. However, I’m apprehensive switching beans out in case I waste too many dialling it in again. (I’ve since found a helpful YouTube video on how to dial this in quickly and easily.) The options on the screen are valuable and allow you to dial in the right volume by setting a time (again, trial and error is about the only way to fine tune it). Overall, it has produced consistent ground coffee and I expect it to last many years of use.

One of the best things I've ever bought. This grinder will grind fine enough to stop any coffee machine. Takes a little bit of fiddling to get the grind and the time right for your dosage amount. Grinds straight into the portafilter. No mess with grinds going everywhere if you are careful. Only thing that could improve is if the on/off switch was on the display but the switch on the side really is no problem. Very solid body and looks classy on the bench. The bonus coffee is a nice extra which let's you dial in your grind without feeling like you're wasting your beans. I've read some comments saying the bean hopper is a bit cheap looking but it looks better than the pictures show. Don't stew about spending the money if you are wanting to move up to a real grinder - ... MoreOne of the best things I've ever bought. This grinder will grind fine enough to stop any coffee machine. Coming from a Macap M4 with doser. The M4 had a clunky doser and so much residual ground coffee that it required blowing through three shots to find out if the new grind setting was good. Adjustments with the Mignon are much easier. The numbers on the dial are relative, so I just have my own reference when using them. I can adjust the dial quickly as the grind commences and get a good result. I think the grind is more consistent with the Mignon but I haven't documented that.Setup with the timer and a scale was straightforward. I arrived at a 8.5 second grind for 18g into a VST basket leading to a 30-second pull and 32g out. The grind stacks up fairly high in the basket, but at just the right setting on a given day the basket does not overflow. The Mignon is much ... MoreComing from a Macap M4 with doser. This is a good “step up” grinder to get a decent grind for your espresso.Pro: flat 55 burrs are good for home use - not super fast but they dont need to be, nice compact foot print, solid build qualityCons: When it clogs after a lot of use it is a bit fiddly to clean. No big drama but you need to work out a good routine.Dialling in to get the right grind can be a tricky too. The dial to change the grind settings is sensitive and small. But one set up its a pleasure and a definite improvement on automatic grinders at cheaper price points.Ill keep this grinder for a while but my next upgrade would probably be a single dose grinder. Happy with the brand, the aesthetic is nice.
A bit difficult to understand the dial for grind settings. You're never 100% positive on where you're going with the knobs the way they are. Important to understand but the other features make it worth it. At this price point (got our machine from C C's on sale) it has been a blessing. It's a workhorse, we have not had a single hiccup in the two years that it has been used for grinding our beans. It has a small footprint and a little on the heavy side but incredibly efficient and easy to use. I would recommend this grinder to anyone interested in saving some money. Just be warned, the adjustment knobs make zero sense to use. You might figure it out no problem, if you do, post it so the rest of the world will too.
Chris Coffee has great service. Period! I paired my Mignon Specialita with a Quick Mill Alexia. I drink straight espresso and I'm the only one in my family who drinks Coffee. This combination gives me great espresso at a price that I can nor worry about spending. This machine is quiet. You can talk over it without screaming. Not like the Baratza Sette which is just plain loud. It disrupts my kitchen. The mess? Coffee shops are always cleaning and wiping, but you don't notice. What works for me is to have a drawer full of small kitchen towels. I place the towel under the grinder spout. Any spilled grounds stick to the terry cloth to be easily disposed of. If you have a static problem, it's where you live, not the machine. Once I get my grind calibrate, I keep it ... MoreChris Coffee has great service. Period! If you have a static problem, it's where you live, not the machine. Once I get my grind calibrate, I keep it simple, I measure my beans with my porta filter. No weighing no obsessing. I have single dosed for man years now. The retention is minimal. I love my machine and feel pride of ownership. Looking at how its made i can tell that it's nice quality. However, please consider that you might need service one day. Somehow a small stone was in a bag of beans. I took my Mignon apart and cleaned the upper and lower burrs (it's not too difficult). Unfortunately it's still giving me problems. Who knows it may be simple? Maybe the board, the motor? Though I bought my grinder before I found out about Chris Coffee, my Specialita is probably going to then for repair. I'm not mad at Eureka. Stuff happens. In the meantime maybe I'll upgrade with the Eureka single dose machine? Maybe go the next step up? Whatever Chris Coffee recommends. My existing Solis grinder, which I use for drip coffee, could use an upgrade. Plan B is using my repaired Mignon to replace my ancient Solis grinder. BTW, trust Chris Coffee, don't obsess and believe 90% of the stuff you read online. Quality products pay for themselves many times over. Gimmicks, fads, magic, the latest greatest does nor great Coffee make. The Italians cracked the code in espresso many years ago. All the best. Thanks for Reading. Chris H. ....not Chris Coffee.
The Mignon Specialita is an excellent companion grinder to my Ascaso set up at the home brew bar. One of the standout features is the grind consistency and limited static build up. I can see the use of the interface if I was using the large hopper and how grind time would be an excellent consistency tool. However, I’ve taken a stricter approach with single dosing. A few mods I’ve added was a bellow set and single hopper. I also added a numeric dial from Etsy to help mark the grind setting. The absence of a quantifiable grind setting instead of more or less is the only down side I can see for this beauty of a grinder! With my set up I routinely am within 0.1grams of the dose weight!
Purchased Red Mignon Zero 9/5. The ordering was very easy, the grinder arrived in less than a week. This was a pleasure to buy from Comiso.I just love the grinder. It is well built and operates smoothly without any significant noise. It is very easy to use. After I dialed the grind it stays very consistent. There is very small amount of coffee retained in the machine thanks to the blower. The adjustment for the grind is continuous and very fine. A couple of things I would improve: the markings on adjustment knob are hard to read, and the holder for the supplied dosing cup is just too flimsy. But these are nitpicks really, I could live with what I got.
