The Specialita is well worth the money spent! It's so silent, precise, and quick! Anyone who has owned (or still owns) a Baratza sette 270 won't miss that godawful noise that will burst an eardrum.Big mention to Georgia from the customer service team for providing excellent responsiveness and professional service delivery. Its such a refreshing change from the lazy, automated responses we get sometimes!!!

Love the look and feel of the Specialita. I was surprised when it arrived at how heavy it was. It feels really solid and well built, only the hopper let's it down unfortunately. The workload is smooth, and it does really have low retention. I single dose with it as it comes, and use the trap door on the hopper to stop popcorning. I find it usually retains about 0.1 grams if anything (from a 22g dose). The timed dose function is easy to use and I've found it very consistent when I have used it.The black and chrome matches my breville dual boiler black sesame really nicely. Would highly recommend

Upgraded to this from my Compak K3 Touch of about 6 years, which was my first grinder, so I can only speak in comparison to this. Much better consistency with the grind and I found better clarity with the flavour. The noise is also much quieter so it's good for morning coffees while everyone else is asleep. The build quality is superb and it's surprisingly heavy and robust given its small footprint. The touchscreen is also a fantastic user-friendly touch. You can manually set a "single shot" or "double shot" timer and there's a stopwatch timer up to a minute so that you can determine how long to set the timer. My ***** portafilter with a funnel attached doesn't fit on top of the holder beneath the grinder outlet, so I had to remove the holder. But otherwise I have ... Purchased the specialita 4 months ago and have given it plenty of use grinding for espresso. Overall it does really well and good flavours in the cup - but its actual performance doesn’t match with some of the marketing. FIrstly, grind time is slower - approx. 17-19 seconds for a 21g double shot - versus 12-13sec advertised. Secondly, it’s not too loud, but it’s also not that quiet - very similar to my Breville smart grinder pro. To achieve good distribution you really need to distribute carefully into the basket - placing in circles/arcs. Grind adjustment mechanism is quick and easy, but very small turns result in relatively large adjustment in grind. For reference I run espresso between about 0.8 to 1.5 on the scale. Grind adjustment mechanism is quick and easy, but very small turns result in relatively large adjustment in grind. For reference I run espresso between about 0.8 to 1.5 on the scale. I have gotten used to this, but I feel could be improved. Have run blind tests against my Breville and over five tests the outcome was that they couldn’t be discerned from one another. So, hopefully the specialita lasts 5 times longer (because it cost 5 times more...).The positives - it looks great and feels very sturdy. The grind start-stop button works great, and grind time adjustment is quick and easy. Keeps track of key stats incl. total shots etc. (refer user manual to access these stats). Small compact footprint. Clump reduction feature works sufficiently well - but the slower grind time does still produce some static/minor clumping at espresso settings. If sound and aesthetics are important - it’s a reasonably good choice. If these criteria aren’t important, maybe consider a Beratza Sette 270W or Wi?
Pro's:Relatively quiet.Minimal retention.Great quality grinding.Very compact, v.similar size to my Breville smart grinder pro.Very stable.Cons:Square hopper not for everyone, and it's completely clear so no protection for beans from lightHopper attaches with a screw, so if you intend to take it off regularly you'll need a screwdriver handy. The portafilter holder, whilst functional is not beautiful. Can be a little messy.
After a year of hand grinding with my fab Commandante, it was time to go electric. I briefly considered the La Pavoni to match, but decided to go to the source mechanism of Eureka. It is super easy to tweak the grind for whichever beans I'm using on the day, and clump free grinds are a dream. Thanks to AB for answering all my questions before buying and only regret is rhat I didn't get a dosing cup, as I still need way more practise to get all the grinds directly into the basket ;)
I use it several times per day. It's paired with a Cafelat Robot. I've owned for a couple of months. No idea how I managed with my old Chestnut C2 hand grinder. I don't have any experience with other electric grinders.I weigh beans in and out and the difference is maximum 0.2g loss or gain. Typically though, it's about the same.I can see why people may want a zero retention device but not sure that it's worth the extra coin. For single dosing it does popcorn a little - I usually push in the little black handle to prevent that from happening.I don't use the timing feature but I can see that it would be useful if you're filling the hopper.I enjoy using it - it's great!
This grinder is fantastic! I had a decent grinder already, but had heard good things about the Eureka and since it arrived, I am so happy that I decided to get it. Quick, quiet and incredibly consistent - not to mention how great it looks! You will not be disappointed with this grinder - and if there are any issues the team at Alternative Brewing are exceptional!
I'm very happy with the Specialita. The coffee dosing timer seems fairly consistent and the micro grind adjuster is easy to use. It grinds relatively quietly, which is important given I have people sleeping near our kitchen. I find it frustrating to have coffee spill all over the bench when grinding straight to a group handle, so I have purchased a dosing ring. Otherwise, Im pretty happy.
The grinder itself is very good and a solid unit.It did not produce any grounds to begin with as the burrs were set too close, I suggest starting with the burrs further apart to produce grounds, then adjust from there. The hopper should be smoked plastic to stop uv light affecting the coffee beans and the portafilter holder has very sharp edges and is of poor quality. You will definitely need a plastic cover for it or grind into a dosing cup if you don’t want to scratch your portafilter. If these mods were mage it would be a great grinder.
