Dyson - Corrale Hair Straightener - Nickel/Fuchsia

I received the Dyson Corrale from Influenster and Dyson I wasn't expecting this so it definitely came as a surprise. I've been using this hair straightener for about a month now and I have to say I really love this hair straightener. I did notice that this hair straightener is a bit heavier than some of the other hair straighteners that I've used but it doesn't weigh enough to hurt your hand when you're straightening it, and I have really long hair. I feel like the charge does last enough to straighten your hair I charged my Dyson and it took me about 45 minutes to straighten all of my hair which I have a lot of and I feel with the Dyson the hair time was way shorter compared to some of the other hair straighteners that I've used. I also love that the Dyson Corrale protects your hair from heat damage when you straighten it. You can keep it at a low temperature and it will straighten. You can also make curls with this hair straightener. Another thing that worked well is that you can get close to your scalp with this hair straightener and it doesn't burn you. I like the fact that you can take it with you anywhere and use it without a plug as long as it's charged. The charging cord is also cool it's magnetic and connects quickly. I also noticed that with the Dyson Corrale it didn't leave my hair frizzy like some other straighteners I have used. The Dyson Corrale also has flexing plates on it to shape and gather your hair and it adjusts to your hair type and in turn it needs less heat. So you can get your hair straight with less damage. I'm in love with this hair straightener and I definitely recommend trying it and you will fall in love. If you look at the photos you can notice no frizz no fly aways and you can see the difference

It’s crazy to me to see so many negative reviews, but reading several gave me some insight into how I’d like to break down my own review:First, I have short, mostly gray (wirey) hair. I’m very strong and have no issue, but my oldest daughter struggled with it after just two sections of hair.If this lasts as long as the little $200 crappy straightener I had, I’ll be happy. But one of the biggest selling features to me was the ability to use it wirelessly, and if the battery depletes to a point where it’s wireless use is defunct, I’ll likely regret this purchase…

Completely disappointing

I wanted to love it. And, after buying the legitimately life-changing Dyson hair dryer, I assumed I'd love it. I should have read the reviews first, because I sure was wrong. I've used A LOT of different straighteners in my life, and this was the worst one in a long, long time. It's not all bad...but it was mostly bad. Pros: - The product itself is beautiful and comes with a really nice, soft velvet travel pouch. - There was noticeably less steam coming from the tool as I used it; I assume this was indicative that less heat damage was being caused, since I used the same amount of product I always do - Loved the cordless feature, docking station, and not being stuck near the electrical outlet - Heats up very quickly Cons: - I had more hairs pulled out and broken than ... MoreI wanted to love it. I followed all of Dyson's recommendations - my hair was completely dry, I applied some tension (but not so much that I was just pulling on my hair), and divided my hair into at least 3 sections (in some areas it was 4 or 5). I also passed much smaller sections of those sub-sections through the straightener at any given time. No matter what I did, the straightener did not glide easily and either felt like or was actually pulling my hair. - Definitely heavier than the average straightener, but not so much that your arm will get tired or sore as some other reviews have indicated - The battery life isn't the greatest...but you can always just plug the (very lengthy) cord directly into the device - It didn't outperform other, less expensive straighteners in terms of results. It almost always took more than one pass to fully straighten my hair, and it didn't look any better or smoother than it would otherwise - Difficult to straighten the roots In summary: don't waste your money on this. If you're going to splurge on a hair tool, get the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer. Because for all the heat damage the Corrale may be sparing you from, it more than makes up for in the physical breakage it causes, and the hairs that remain won't look any more spectacular than after using a less expensive straightener. Does what it promises!

I was so excited to finally get to try one of the infamous Dyson hair styling tools! The Dyson Corrale is a flat iron that has the option to be used without a cord and is also rechargeable. After waiting on hold they finally agreed, but the agent I dealt with continually made me feel like I was asking for a lot. She kept saying that the issue I was facing was only cosmetic. I would expect a lower priced straightener to peel or chip, but I think for the cost of the Dyson Corrale it should be made of better quality. I did receive the model I wanted after sending my Corrale back. I would be giving a 5 star review if the customer service agent had been a bit more helpful and less negative. It felt like she was doing me a favour instead of actually honouring the warranty that Dyson offers.

Great convenience, results are good but not wow

This is a tough product to rate - on the one hand there are several features that I really like and that I have not seen on many or even any other straighteners. I love the cordless functionality and how quickly the tool heats up. This combined with being able to plug the charging cord into the stand means that instead of putting everything away after each use, I now just leave the Corrale sitting in its dock most of the time, ready to use for quick touch ups. The convenience is superb, and even better because the dual voltage and airplane mode features mean I can literally take this anywhere, even overseas where the Dyson Supersonic and Airwrap can’t go…. Another big positive is that there is no singed smell when using the Corrale, which I have to believe is due to the technology. It also works, for me anyway, on even the lowest heat setting. The Corrale leaves my hair frizz free with a nice shine, and it usually takes minimal passes. I find the battery lasts plenty for me and that the cordless feature is well worth it. In all, the Corrale does a good job of straightening and curling, at least the loser types of waves I like to give my hair some body and bounce. But that’s where I run into trouble with the rating - the Corrale does a “good” job - the results don’t blow me away, they are just “good”. In fairness, they are achieved with all the convenience I just described, and with less heat and presumably less damage, but I don’t know that all justifies the incredibly high price. Ironically, part of my less than 100% satisfaction is influenced by my overwhelmingly positive experience with the Dyson Supersonic, which I consider a true game changer and worth every penny with respect to the results and the speed with which they can be achieved. Maybe the true advantages of the Corrale over other straighteners are the speed, convenience and lower heat with which good results can be achieved rather than the more obvious superior results you can get with the Dyson Supersonic over any other hair dryer I have tired. I don’t regret buying the Corrale but it is not a game changer for me the way the Supersonic is. I do like the Corrale, but If it broke tomorrow I would not necessarily miss the product, I would mostly be mad about the money I spent. If I broke the Supersonic, however, I would have to find a way to replace it right away - that’s just how much difference it has made to how I am able to dry and style my hair.

How do I create curls in mixed heritage hair?

Lots of positives, small amounts of negatives that Dyson has still not sorted.Positives: straightens my thick candy floss/nylon hair mixed heritage long hair into a chic straight style with lots and lots of shine. It does it quite quickly with only a few passes. I do need more than one pass for my hair. The shape of it means that I do not have frizzy rat tail ends to my hair as I can shape them under - something that just did not work with my old straighteners by a well-known brand. My hair never feels scorched or gets a burning smell that I got with my old straighteners. My hair is down my back but I can still do it within 30 – 40 mins. It’s easy to understand how to use - once you’ve figured out that you need to take out the Flight Mode Button and turn it the opposite way – lining the green House icon up with the green arrow – and put it back in. The flight mode feature allows you in theory to take it in your hand luggage (but they advise that you still check with your Airline). The good news is that on these latest models, they have made the Flight Mode button so that you remove and put back in, in reverse– whereas in the old one, you just pulled it out and left it hanging out, which was crazy as it was destined to get broken off. It charges up pretty quickly. It has three heat settings meaning that my mum with her much thinner hair in her 70s can use it but I can also use it on my very, thick long hair. And of course, it can be used cordless (but let’s come back to that bit). Abby Horne does a superb job of demonstrating this excellent product and what she tells you is the truth – it’s a game changer. I no longer have to go to the Hairdressers for expensive blow-dries. I also own a Dyson hairdryer. The two together cost about the same as my second hand car. It’s a considered purchase and one I do not regret. The instalment plans and 60 day return, if you are unhappy, really is as good as you get. At first, as they are different from your standard straighteners and dryers, you might think you cannot handle them. Keep going for at least 2 weeks. You will then never turn back!Negatives: 1) It’s nice that it’s cordless for freedom of styling in the home but it’s heavy and big and they still haven’t sorted that out. So, in reality, it’s not something you would really want to carry with you unless absolutely necessary. 2) For those with thick, long hair, straightening it means that the battery runs out before you’ve finished so you end up putting it back In the dock to charge for quite a while. I’ve tried putting the cord on when it starts to sound its beep that the battery is low but it carries on beeping even with the cord in and more importantly struggles to keep the straightener charged. It’s not broken – a relative has the same one and the same challenge. My tip: keep the cord in right at the start whilst it is fully charged and it seems to keep its charge better that way. I’ve still not solved the problem though. 3) I’ve watched beautiful curls being created by Abby and the models on QVC and YouTube but no matter how hard I try, I cannot create them with this straightener. My mixed heritage hair does not slip through traditional straighteners and I think that might be the issue. I think my mixed heritage hair does not need the corrale part of the plates fitting so closely together. I cannot pull the product down the hair – it will not slide – so I cannot create the ribbon-like curls that sadly everyone else can. This is the one thing that Abby hasn't yet covered in her superb presentation - ABBY - HOW CAN I GET IT TO SLIDE TO CREATE CURLS IN MY MIXED RACE HAIR? I DON'T HAVE INSTAGRAM! MANY THANKSIt was also difficult to register the product for its guarantee with Dyson online and we had to telephone them in the end, to do so.We downloaded the manual for the straightener and looked for the registration information - that gave a Dyson website address based in India. We visited that website and put in the serial number but it said it was ‘invalid’. We then looked on Google for the registration website and found one. We put in the serial number but it wouldn’t accept it. Luckily we had a telephone number for Dyson customer service and the lady took the serial number and registered it. We got a confirmation email OK.Overall, a must gadget. A considered purchase but over time, it pays for itself through the vastly reduced visits to the hairdressers. Finally, we can all create our best looks, at home!

Not for straightening actually curly hair

I generally LOVE Dyson products but this one is a pass for me. Unless you fairly straight hair already (think wavy or just frizz), this is is not the product for you. The pros: It charges up quickly. It's pretty. It is lightweight. It is made by Dyson. Cons: Battery dies quickly. If you have 3a hair or curlier...it will only survive maybe half your head. You really need to keep it plugged in which makes it not worth the price point. It will straighten some of your hair...but the battery dies too fast to be worth the premium price. If you use it plugged in, works just fine but then there's no point in paying for the wireless capability. Tried to love it

I’ve been using the Dyson Corrale for just over two years now (I’m literally a month post-warranty and my straightener stopped turning on today) and I’ve tried SO hard to love this machine because I love my air wrap and cordless vacuum so much. But, truth is, I feel like this product is designed for a certain hair type — most definitely not mine. I have thick, wavy hair but I’ve never had any issues with a straightener. Not only does the battery only last long enough to do a QUARTER of my hair, it doesn’t even straighten it with multiple passes. Every time I’ve finished going through my head, my hair has remained fuzzy/puffy/wavy and it’s just SO disappointing. Yes, it’s heavy. Yes, the battery has its problems even right out of the box. That cost is the sole reason I’ve forced myself to use the product all this time, it was a gift from my fiancée (he was REALLY excited about it) and I couldnt bear to tell him how truly sub-par this product was. LOVE Dyson, HATE the Corrale.

Let me first say I received my Dyson straightener in April of 2020, so this review is literally based on 3 years of continued almost daily use. I have thick wavy/curly hair that was long, then short, and now somewhere in between. This tool WAS amazing. I always got beautiful results and minimal damage. Even my hairdresser noticed my hair had less heat inflicted damage. All was great until it wasn’t. Flash forward to now March 2023, since late November my iron can NOT come to temperature or maintain temperature unplugged. No big deal, I just continued use while plugged in…now late February early March, even plugged in it will reach temperature but only stay ‘alive’ for 5ish minutes before losing all power and shutting off. Though customer service has been polite, they have not been helpful at solving the issue. I’m incredibly disappointed that such a great (and costly) product has such a short life span. I hope in the future Dyson entertains either a replacement battery, or a corded non battery version of this tool.
