Absolutely excellent. Only used a couple of times so far therefore cannot comment on longevity, but wish that I had one of these years ago. So useful in cramped places where a pole or nomal size chain saw is difficult to use. With this your in/out job done!

Fantastic little 'chainsaw'! Ergonomic and comfortable in the hand. I would recommend (at you own risk of course) removing the flappy 'safety' guard. Easily done by removing a few screws. I actually believe removing this makes it a much safer tool. When it is in place you cannot see/follow the blade/chain cutting, as it is obscured by it. When it is not there you can see clearly the depth of your cut and when the branch might start to pinch. The oil tank could be bigger - drains very quickly with not a lot of use.

Very well designed. Was concerned the branch being cut would damage the machine, but there's a metal 'slider' to stop this. I suppose the 325 chain was used as the smaller 3/8P type may have the cutters too far apart, pity it's 1.4mm and not a more normal/expected 3/8P x 1.1 as that would cut quicker (and I don't have a reel of 325x1.4). 'Automatic' chain adjustment is new to me - be interesting to see how well this works.'horses for courses', certainally not as brutal as the 395 with a 24'' .404 chain, but does what I want it to do well.

Good service from Federated Tool, fast shipping.Makita Pruner is a great addition to my Makita tools.Easy to use & service, does a good job on 4" & less branches.Cut a slice from a 6-7" log with a little work back & forth. (will use my gas saw on the remainder, much faster of course)Great saw for what it is meant to do. My wife should be able to use this saw without being intimidated by it.

This tool follows normal Makita standards with excellent functionality and quality. I've used it for some autumn pruning and I'm very satisfied but with one exception and that is the chain cut is very aggressive and I think would benefit from a finer cut which would make it more controllable.

Luckily I had only used it briefly before realising that there was no chain oil in it. It had been delivered empty which, with hindsight, is understandable.Yes!, I had read the instruction booklet beforehand and after I'd discovered it was empty but it certainly, on first reading and the second, doesn't make it obvious that it needs to be filled with oil before first use. The small lubrication section reads more as routine maintenance to check the oil level after each use and top up, if needed.All that said, it's a neat, handy little tool, just what I wanted and I should get years of use out it....... but........My customer feedback is - It needs to be made obvious ...... ITS EMPTY, FILL IT UP, BEFORE FIRST USE.

Excellent gizmo, should have got one years ago. Bridges the gap between the 'big' hedge trimmer (has 25mm cut) and the 12" chainsaw, which is a bit OTT and heavy to swing around when buried in the hedge.
