DeWalt Mechanics Tool Set, 247-Piece (DWMT81535) 247 PC

Seem like a very durable set. Many more than I expected. I found it difficult to get some items out of the holder, as they are packed tight. There are some tools that I do not know how to use, and there are no instructions on how to use them and for what purpose they are made.

I use the kit to replace blower belts and fans on HVAC systems. It has all the tools I need in 1 toolcase for that kind of jobs, which is practical when you have to climb on a roof. 1 small disappointment is that the wrenches don't have the release mechanism to take the sockets off. No big deal though. All pieces seem to be secure in individual slots. The case has four metal latches that seem sturdy. Good value for the money

Great for a beginner learning to work on cars, has pretty much everything you need. The ratchets feel good in hand and have a satisfying clicks. Overall I would definitely say this set is one of the best bang for the bucks out there in 2024.

Beware of case

Chose this DeWalt tool set since it included some of the larger socket sizes. However when you open the case, it's 52 card pick up.... of sockets! Tools do not stay secure in the case. I wish I had read the reviews before ordering. Returned the tool set to Home Depot with no issues. Thanks Home Depot!

Decent set

Overall a good basic set. It’s similar to many other tool sets. Would be nice if it had a few larger sockets and more wrenches and ditch the nicnack tools like screw driver bits. My biggest deciding factor was a flat type carry case and not the square box. Fits behind the seat nicely. Overall tool seem good quality.

I must admit - I am a professional automotive technician... So I do use my tools hard.With that being said - after 6 months of use... I have broken BOTH the 1/4" and 3/8" ratchets (mechanism locks and must be jarred to free up).I have broken 4 - 1/2" deep sockets and 5 shallow ones.3/8" sockets... Just a few.1/4" drive - all good stillAll wrenches and miscellaneous torx and other sockets... All have held so for.I would NOT recommended for the professional, but the quality I think is there for the home mechanic.

Incredible Value. Strong tools.

I purchased the big set during a sale. I expected to provide them as my 'borrow' tools for those who visit to work on their projects. On a day when a rusted T40 bolt on a 1989 frame was breaking my tools, I grabbed the Dewalt in desperation. I applied everything I had. Suddenly, there's a firm snap and the wrench went slack. I thought, "Yep, it broke." No, it didn't break. The bolt had snapped loose and I was impressed. I've experienced the same with the sockets; Strong. The Taiwan tools in 2018 are are a complete turn-around from what I have from 15 years ago. This tool-set at the 2018 price is unbelievable. The case is not great. I wish they offered expansion socket-sets. Currently, I'm looking to expand the range of larger 1/2" drive sockets and it appears they will be purchased individually when available.

Nice so far

I like the fact it's well laid out is really what i was looking for. Haven't really been able to test the strength of the set yet but so far its nice. The only thing that bothered me was. It could have came with more smaller size Allen wrench/Hex key bits instead of the manual wrenches. Also it seems like it could have came with a 1/4 to 1/2 driver for a impact

Sockets Spilling Everywhere

The actual tool set is great but the case is terrible. Every time you open the lid many of the sockets fall out. Same thing happens when you try to close the lid. I tried another set and it was worse. When I called Dewalt they informed me that the case was not included in the warranty as it is considered a "shipping case". If you want a good set of tools that you intend on moving to another case buy this. If you are looking for an all inclusive set to use and carry with you in the included case I suggest you buy from another manufacturer.

This is the most complete tool set I could find in this price range. In terms of quality, I’d say these tools are on the same level as husky, kobalt, and craftsman. Ultimately I went with this set due to case design. I had read several reviews of drawer-style cases opening on their own and I didn’t want to play 247pc pick-up. This set slides nicely under the back seat of my truck. The Dewalt hand tools also come with a “Hassel-free warranty”. I don’t think anyone will regret making this purchase at this price point!
