I like that it is a DeWalt product. It is a battery powered hammer drill. It does what it is designed to do, i.e.: Makes holes in various materials including cementitious materials such as concrete floors and cement blocks. Like the belt clip, saves me from setting it down. Very powerful, I recommend using the additional handle especially when operating at the lowest speed. (Highest torque)

This is a heavy duty drill that I have yet to find a match for. I've used it to mix large amounts of thinset and grout with no issues. Drilled through structural concrete like and SDS drill. It's also not too big and cumbersome.

Incredibly powerful hammerdrill that will drill through practically anything. Much more than I will ever need as a DYIer. Is quite a bit larger and heavier than the DCD805, especially when coupled with a larger battery, but the extra bulk helps with tougher jobs.

Bought this drill for heavy duty work i was expecting to do. When i began, it was stuck in hammer drill mode and would not come out. Took back to lowes and exchanged for new one. Second one goes in hammer drill mode on it own and will not run full strength continuously on a fully charged battery. This too is a dud and not indicative of my other dewalt tools, although i have friends who have complained they are having same issues with other dewalt drills of theirs. This drill model is a complete dud and i will b returning for refund.
I'm drilling 1/2" through 8" Eucalyptus. My Ryobi cordless struggled and would seize up. This Dewalt goes through it like nothing. If I didn't have to clear the bit every few inches, it would do it in one pass.
I had to buy this because my old one burned up in the middle of a renovation. I was happy that the handle is nicer, but the included belt clip had a manufacturing defect and could not be installed (no groove cut in the top). After owning the previous model for 2.5 years I would say the drill is great. I’m upset my old one died, and I didn’t have the time to stop and call Dewalt to figure out the warranty. Hammer is loud and fast and gets through just about anything. The light is super bright and being able to turn it on as a flashlight in a pinch is a lifesaver.
Sorry but just got this and havent really had a chance to use it. Very satisfied so far, certainly appears to be as represented, very high quality, brand new with belt clip, torque handle and owners manual. Have basically just had a chance to plug it in and run thru the gears. Will be happy to update after I try drilling some 1/8 holes in a few of the granite boulders we have on our property. Just got my Dewalt 20V 8.0AH battery and very much looking forward to NOT having to drag a 200 plus extension cord all over the place!
Dewalt was always my favorite brand. I took pride in my collection of dewalt tools and enjoyed showing off my new toys. I always felt more professional having all dewalt tools, and what I thought was top of the line. But my love for dewalt is over and I'm making the switch to makita. I have 2 makita drills,1 impact and 1 hammer that I've had for almost 3 years now and still work great. But I bought 2 of these dewalt hammer drills for work and the problems immediately begin. My employees first complained that they didn't like the drills. I brushed it off. Then I bought a new dewalt hammer drill for myself only, and it worked great for about 8 months. Then I bought a new dewalt hammer drill for myself only, and it worked great for about 8 months. Then all of a sudden I was at a job last week and while I was drilling into some mortar to run some fiber optics line into a basement, I noticed the drill started to instantly sound weaker. Next thing i know it died. I thought maybe the battery died so I charged it over night. Next day I take it to work and once again I'm drilling mortar at a customer's house and it dies on me again after only using it for 1 minute and with a fresh battery. So I thought maybe my battery is junk. Well i bought a brand new battery from the store and I still had the same issue. The cashier at the store even joked and said it'd actually be cheaper to just buy a whole new drill since the batteries are so expensive for dewalt. Well I should have listened because he was right. I bought dewalts huge expensive $200 flex volt battery thinking I just needed a new battery, and nope that didn't solve the problem. I literally left the jobsite to go buy that battery and it didn't solve the issue and I was in the middle of a job at a customer's house,in the middle of drilling a hole into their basement. So I had to call a coworker to borrow a drill and have them bring it to my jobsite so I could finish the job.It was embarrassing, I felt unprofessional, and I wasted over $200 buying a battery that I didn't even need. I just assumed it had to be the battery since the drill wasn't that old and lightly used. When you pay over $500 for your drill and battery, you expect it to last you atleast more than 1 year. So with all that being said, I think I'd recommend everyone just buy Milwaukee or Makita. Theyre still good brands and they're cheaper. So if you're tools that you depend on to earn a living fail on you, then you can always afford to go buy a new one. Because I know personally after blowing $200 on that battery that I didn't even need, I can't afford to go spend even more money this week on another brand new drill. I'll have to wait until next payday to buy another dewalt drill or I can just go buy a cheaper brand drill today, and I bet that cheaper drill still lasts as long as my dewalt,if not longer. I'm totally let down. I literally can't do my job without my hammer drill either. Tried contacting customer service about my warranty, and they tell me I have to look up a service center. Man I need my drill to earn a living, I can't work without a drill. And I cant afford to wait that long searching for a service center, in hopes they'll repair my drill, and then they'll still charge me. That's just insane. So the warranty is essentially worthless. I have reciept and all,but still no help.
I have always liked DEWALT over other tools. This particular drill is well worth the money. It is my third one to the collection of many DEWALT tools I own. It lives up to the DEWALT name. I have beat on my cordless DEWALT drills and they have always performed better than other name brand drills. This brushless motor drill is quiet and performs better than all of my other drills. I will be adding a few more to my collection.
I bought the DCD998B today. Charged it and tried it out. I needed to drill 8 holes in stone and concrete. I spent 45 min with a drill to get 1/3 the way through stone on the 1st hole. I finished with this drill and spent 3 min to finish the hole and 7 others. It didn't come with a battery. What I thought was expensive to begin with ($249.95) Lowes had a deal going. If you bought a lith battery (DCBP520C) and charger for $279.95 the drill was free. At first I thought I didn't want to pay that much for a drill but I saw all the other tools that it powered so I was like, what the heck. I could not be happier. I also got 5% off with my Lowes card. It is the 1st time in my 70 years I am so happy with a product that actually out performed my expectations. I would give ... MoreI bought the DCD998B today. Charged it and tried it out. I'm going back tomorrow to see what other tools I can buy. Thank you Lowe's.
