I LOVE CeraVe products and when I recently developed eczema on my face, I sought out treatment with CeraVe. I bought this product in hopes of calming my eczema however it has only made it worse. I used it two days (this is the only product that has changed in my skin care routine) and I’ve woken up to a horrible, red, itchy rash all over my face. Apparently there is something in the product I’m having a reaction to. I’m absolutely bummed as again, I love CeraVe products but this is a $15 tube, that I’ve only used twice and won’t be able to use again. Now I’m being treated with Benadryl and a topical steroid.

I suffer from excoriation (skin-picking) mainly around my cuticles. It’s rooted by my skin constantly being dry and I hate that feeling. I have spent a ridiculous amount of money on finding a lotion that works. I’ve tried it all- I get excited when people suggest a new product that “Is the only thing that worked for them” But then I go buy it only to find that nothing is different about it. FINALLY there is something that works for me. A lot of times I draw blood from skin picking so bad - especially if I’m up late and can’t fall asleep. If I put this on after doing some damage, by the next day the skin looks incredibly healed.

If you have eczema, I can't explain enough how crucial a product like this is! Lotions are good, but this being a "creamy oil" is so much better because it's more deeply moisturizing. This does take a bit longer to soak into the skin but for those really dry patches, that's a good thing! I feel like I have to re-apply this much less than other eczema lotions. It definitely does less than a steroid cream for the itch, but the dryness is more immediately soothed and the itch stops soon after. I have layered this with cortisone too and it helps lock that steroid in for better healing. My biggest gripe with this is the price... CeraVe is more expensive than most drugstore options but it works, so I can't say I'm too pressed about it.

This new formula is yuck. It is not creamy or oily anymore. It’s like every other lotion out there and does not keep my legs and arms hydrated like the old formula did. Please please please please please please bring back the ORIGINAL FORMULA!!! I have Uticaria and this is the ONLY formula of lotion that calmed my skin and moisturized…but did it in a different way than any other lotion out there. It was unique and it has been changed to just average. It WAS awesome. Please bring old formula back, PLEASE. It never needed to be improved. And it wasn’t improved.
Holy moly this stuff has given me brand new skin. I've dealt with eczema on my face and upper torso since puberty, and it's only gotten worse as I've gotten older. I've tried literally every product on the market in an attempt to soothe it. I picked this up yesterday and kid you not, within hours I saw an improvement. No more itching, burning or tightness; red bumps were going down and flaky rashy bits were smoothed over and far less angry. Barring any crazy delayed reaction, I think I've found my Holy Grail skincare product.Cerave, I appreciate the large size because it's cost effective to use everywhere, but a travel size to keep in my truck would be amazing for random flare ups!
I used to love this product. I have super sensitive dry skin and love in a desert. This was the only lotion that I could use on my face without breaking out. But they changed it. The old formula's consistency was a bit odd. It was like smearing Elmer's glue into your skin. I would look very greasy right after application. But after a few minutes, it would absorb or dry or whatever and my skin would look and feel amazingly soft and dewy. The new formula with the oatmeal has a more lotiony appearance but in every other way, it is just not special. It is not as moisturizing and it makes me break out. I'm so disappointed.
I USED to LOVE this "creamy oil" lotion. It was the ONLY thing I found that actually absorbed into my skin and helped my extremely dry, flaky, and scaly skin that followed my eczema flare ups and/or dermatitis AS WELL AS soothe and calm the itching and redness of it. It was amazing! Well as you can see nobody seems to like your new, but definitely not improved product you have out now. Reviews everywhere on it are terrible, with people begging for the original formula back. You need to face the facts that the previous worked great and the new stuff just doesn't or at least not as well - it's just like every other lotion out there now. Also when comparing ingredients on the new and old - there are several differences other than just the added colloidal oatmeal. ... MoreI USED to LOVE this "creamy oil" lotion. If you have ever suffered eczema, dermatitis, extreme dryness, itching and burning skin, then you'd understand how miserable it can be, and for many, your previous product actually worked and provided relief. Kind of crazy you thought it was a good idea to change it...
I'm extremely disappointed and feel misled because the ingredients listed on Ulta's website here and the ingredients on the product's actual packaging do not match. I am allergic to alcohol and found this listed under the National Eczema associations list of alcohol free moisturizers. I double checked the ingredients list on Ulta's website here. Then I drove across town, spent the $20 to buy the product to use on my hands, applied it and immediately felt a terrible burning sensation. I then read the ingredients as they were printed on the product, and it was completely different from what Ulta has listed here on its website. Alcohol was the 2nd and 4th ingredient listed!!! Deceptive, negligent and frustrating
The original creamy oil formula was liquid gold! Unlike any other product on the market. Unfortunately the new formula - with the addition of the oatmeal ingredient - makes this product much like many other eczema lotions on the market. This new formula is not nearly as effective on my skin and it sounds like many others have experienced this as well. To the kind person who reads these customer reviews… would you please consider escalating this consumer feedback to your product development team to see if there’s any chance they’d consider bringing your original creamy oil formula back? It was a savior as it was the only product that’s ever worked for me. Is there any leftover in the warehouse that we can purchase? Please help! Thank you!
Eczema Creamy Oil formula new is NOT AT ALL A CREAMY OIL. As a serious eczema sufferer, my docs turned me on to the original formula 3 years ago and it's the only thing that works on my Black dry eczema skin. I also think that discontinuing the original version without giving people a heads up was unfortunate. We are now out of luck and this is about a medical condition, not about achieving softer skin or less wrinkles or whatever surface thing that would have not mattered as much. The new formula is so different as to be the question, why keep the name at all? I could have save my money (and none of it is cheap) and started my search early for a better product from a different brand. Very disappointing.
