Despite years of performing with synthesizers, I decided it was long past time to focus on piano lessons. I spent nearly a month researching digital pianos from $500 to $1500. I watched many videos here and on YouTube, and did my best to compare the key actions of the usual suspects in this category. To me, the Casio PX-S1000 and PX-S3000 were the clear winners. I decided that the extra features of the 3000 were worth the little extra. I also wish the 3000 had been available in white or red like the 1000. In all, I just couldn't find a better bang for the buck than the PX-S3000, and it left enough funds to get the stand, SP-34 pedal, and an inexpensive subwoofer that really lets the 3000 fill the room. Also recommended: an expression pedal and an additional footswitch, because the 3000 can really take advantage of them. Finally, take into consideration the extra value of the free Chordana Piano app that, with the 3000, makes the $850 Privia feel like a $2000 keyboard. Well done, Casio!

For the price I can't see getting a better board than this. Although the dynamic range is a bit narrow the piano sound is still controllable. It Only bothered me a bit on a Bill Evans transcription of I loves you porgy ( still doable). Most players will never have an issue with this or even notice. Bluetooth nice touch. After three weeks I'm happy with this board. As piano only, I think it covers a lot ground. Some Boleros, Bebop, Salsa, Ballads, R&B yes. Do I wish it did this or that, yes. But for 650.us I think this baby punches way above it's weight class. Extremely Portable and Battery operated, just extra gravy baby. Very Nice Casio.

I bought this as a backup piano since my upright is thunderous and I can't practice at night. I didn't need 700 tones and 200 beat tracks. I just wanted a default grand piano that sounded good, and they nailed it! It sounds and feels like an acoustic piano. I read some negative reviews about the PX-S1100 having black keys that were slightly lighter (GASP!) than the white keys. I've been playing the piano for 35+ years, and I can't feel the difference. Sure, it's not identical to my acoustic piano, but it's about as close as could be. I have no problem switching between the two of them. The keys feel so realistic. The hammer action is topnotch. The ivory texturing on the keys makes a huge difference. They feel and play like acoustic keys and are far superior to the slick plastic keys found on other digital pianos in this price bracket (I'm looking at you, Yamaha and Roland). This piano also comes with Bluetooth which makes it super easy to control through my iPhone. On that note, if I had one negative thing to say, it would be that the onboard controls might be too minimal for some folks. It's really meant to be controlled through a phone. But I'm fine with that because it makes for a sleek, uncluttered design--like what Apple might build if they made keyboards. If you're on the fence, don't overthink it. You get a lot of piano for the price. It's perfect for practicing. It feels realistic. The sound is superb. It's easy to use. It looks awesome. My only regret is not buying something like this decades ago! (One caveat: I'm only reviewing this as someone who plays on it at home when I don't want to disturb the family; I can't vouch for it's portability or stage-worthiness.)

When my piano tuner told me the bad news that it would cost well over $7000 to make my 1898 A.B.Chase 6.5 foot grand piano working at, or about where it should be, my heart sank but at that point I was looking for solutions, as it a digital keyboard to put in to substitute for the old action. After contacting Sweetwater and speaking with AJ and finding what would not work, he suggested the Casio Privia due to its low profile. That way once the old action was removed which had a height of 3 inches, the Previa, which had a height of 4" (the lowest profile available in keyboards), might work. I selected the 3100 model and it fit in to the cavity with only 1/4 inch on each side. Basically, my idea was perfect! My process was too simple and took about 45 minutes to accomplish. 1) remove action, measure space for height, length and depth. 2) check Priva measurements to see if it fits as pianos can vary but not that much. 3) Call AJ and buy one. 4) Start having fun and not have to junk your old piano Lastly, if you don't have a piano and want one for its esthetics in your home but want one for little or nothing, use this method and you will be recycling someone's old treasure and keeping it out of the landfill and having the gift of music for the household. By the way, no more need for expensive tuners to come by and give you the bad news.

Much better with headphones.Slight static click every so often in my headphones, not loud but noticable, not sure what causes that?. Didn't have it with my previous keyboard, just happens now and then.The piano sounds are reasonable, I use midi mostly but these are good enough for practising without needing my computer switched on.Navigation pretty simple once used to it.Volume knob a bit scratchy in places. What is Casio thinking about? and not only that Casio has removed the Aux-in on all there newest keyboards except the PX-S3100. No Aux-in on the PX-S1100. No Aux-in on the PX-S5000, S6000 or S7000 which mean no more DAW sounds where you send midi data from your keyboard to a DAW and the DAW sends back the sound of the note to your AUX-In so your keyboard speakers will make the note sound. With the S3100 you can still use USB Midi to send the note and the Aux-In to hear the sound on your keyboard speakers. So basically the WU-BT10 is useless which makes the S3100 the same as the S3000 as this was really the only main new feature that they added. I think the speakers have better sounds. Oh well I had to upgrade now to the S3100 to fully utilize my S3000 accessories. If you are just getting into the world of electronic Music Keyboards, the cheaper Casio keyboards with less sounds might be a better choice as yes 700 sounds is wonderful but this whole keyboard is really hard to learn especially for a 62 year old man. While yes you will eventually learn the most of the needed keyboard combinations, this keyboard is daunting to use. I did hear that you can now turn off stretch tuning. This is a nice keyboard but not worth the price but if you have the money and you want the newer version of the S3000, then by all means do what I did and swap in the new s3100 and I will be giving my old S3000 to my daughter. Don't buy the new keyboard as this is the end of line where Casio doesn't make keyboards with Aux-in.
This is a sleek looking piano. The grand piano is great and so are the other sounds but i wish it had the electric bass sound as the split sound instead of the acoustic bass but it's no big deal. I bought it for the piano and the e piano sounds. I love the layout with just the power on and volume knob that's visible while the other functions lights up. The keys feels great for my taste and it's wonderful for playing any type of music. Love the stereo L/R outputs instead of just the headphone output to use with an amp or PA system plus you can use the 3 pedal option or the damper pedal (the one that comes with it is a plastic box pedal). The wood stand that's an option instead of an X stand if you're using this at home or a church would be the best. It will set the ... MoreThis is a sleek looking piano.
