Casio G-Shock Classic GM-2100WS-7AER Watch

Finally got my 'Casio grail' - I already own (and love!) the resin version of this but wanted the luxury feel of the full metal model. Managed to try one on in H Samuel and the very patient sales lady spent ages with me ensuring I was happy with the fit. In fact, despite being a large watch, it's actually more comfortable on the wrist than my resin version (which surprised me). The fit and finish is superb as is the high quality bracelet with a milled clasp and plenty of micro adjustment. The only (slight) negative is it can be hard to read in certain lights but it does have decent lume (including the indices on this model) and a good double LED light. I am a watch collector with everything from watches associated with my phone to many classic automatics. I just buy what I like and always on the lookout for something different have looked at G-Shock in general and this watch in particular. I have never seen this one in the flesh. Just on photographs and it looks as good as the photographs but with one issue. Then on to setting it up.I am a firm believer in "if all else fails read the instructions" and with this watch hit that point very quickly and the instructions were the normal complicated Casio large sheet of very tiny text. Now to a tip. Download the phone app. Then you just need to pair the watch with your phone and read the instructions from there. Once paired with the app it is great but note that the instructions for the first part of pairing is to hold button "B" for st least three seconds. After that repeatedly fails you discover that it takes at least five or six seconds before the little indicator hand you can't see moves to the right place for Bluetooth.Cut to an hour or so later and the watch is up and running. The only problem then is that it looks really good in the pictures and it is a very smart watch on the wrist but in anything other than bright light it is very hard to see the hands. That is the only reason for giving it three stars.If the watch had a more practical colour scheme it would easily be five stars. It looks good and is well made. The case and strap is as good as some of my watches which cost thousands and the extra functions (in watch talk, complications) over telling the time are very good. As a traveller I love being able to pick my destination by clicking on a map in the app and then tell the app to change my watch to the selected time zone. Then watch the hands spin to the required time zone. I have a Casio Red Arrows watch that adjusts to world time but it is such a complicated process to change the time I never use it for travel. This watch will get used as it is far more straightforward.Final point is that the watch comes with a very long bracelet which will fir just about any wrist. It is very easy to remove links but I will leave it to DIYers to check how.

Great watch, love the Bluetooth feature. It doesn't do calls etc but once connected to your phone, you can adjust time etc from the app which is good. The weight and materials are as expected, nothing special but usually durable. Expected more as it was a deadpool edition ie a little engraved logo or any other logo on the watch but it doesn't have any distinguishing features related to deadpool. Usual functions as expected. All round good watch but not a stand out version.
