About 5 years ago I discovered Carhartt clothing - outdoor work pants and long sleeve shirts. I am impressed with quality and durability. I'm a retired 'office worker' living on a small farm. Carhartt is perfect. I've been hoping to buy a winter coat. We found the Carhartt store in Keizer Station - near Salem, Oregon. The store people were most helpful and patient with an old fella - I like the brown color and a coat with a wool-like lining. The coat was not in stock - but the clerk made an order - accepted my payment and a few days later the coat arrived. The price was affordable and materials top quality. During my browsing process the clerk explained the coat I had in mind is not waterproof. I thought and said '...not a problem I won't be wearing it in the ... The first time I wore the coat was during an Oregon torrential downpour, The gutter above our flower bed was plugged with fir needles and maple leaf. The coat got soaked, but no complaint from me....I love the coat and look forward to wearing it this winter.

Easily the worst jacket ever ! Purchased this about a year ago and nothing stays in the pockets. If you aren't using the breast or inside pockets anything you have will be lost. This coat has easily cost me well over $1000 in items lost from not staying in the pocket. Phones, money, wallets, keys etc. This item alone has been a major factor as to why I gave up on carhartt items. Unfortunately after a life time of wearing carhart I will no longer purchase their items again due to this product and what I've lost over time. Quality/feel is not bad but something about how the pockets are made will cost you more in the long run. If you work or do a lot of movement this isn't for you.

I have heavy Carhartt parka for bitterly cold weather and i was looking for something that would be comfortable in near freezing temps and breezy days. The knit cuffs block wind from crawling up the sleeves and there are two drawstrings to snug the bottom hem to your hips, which makes this an ideal jacket for watching a fall football game. I like having the two inner pockets, and the hood lays pretty flat, which is nice while driving. The overall styling is typical Carhartt. Never fussy and always functional. Sizing is true, and Tractor Supply shipped my jacket well within the timeframe stated. I am more pleased with this jacket than I thought I would be. i definitely can recommend buying this.
I have had this coat for 6.5 years and is HANDS DOWN the best coat I've ever owned! I am buying a new one soon and will continue to buy this exact coat for as long as it's manufactured. I work construction outdoors and door everything from welding to climbing 100' ladders and this coat has never felt constricting or uncomfortable in any way. I put this coat through the ringer throughout it's life and I still feel confident that it will do its job. The only thing I don't like about this coat is the weather rating of 2, not because it doesn't keep me warm but because it DOES! I've worn this coat on -30° days and as long as you're not naked underneath it will keep you warm. We recently had -40° windchill in Iowa, I was outside for several hours clearing snow and not ... This coat is worth a try!
Really happy with this jacket. I was worried about sizing and about whether it would be too warm/hot, and am really pleased with how things turned out. First - Fitment. I'm 6'2", 220# and was worried that a Large - Tall was going to be too large or too tall. It fits almost perfectly. There's a bit of extra room around the chest/belly, but not enough to make me want to return it. Sleeves - OMG, this could be the first coat I have with sleeves that don't pull up when I stretch my arms out in ANY direction! The coat length of the Tall is perfect. It hits me about mid-butt which works great so I don't get cold air blasting me if I crouch down. Regarding warmth - this should be perfect for the milder winters of Atlanta. Maybe not so good for the arctic midwest, but I ... MoreReally happy with this jacket. Maybe not so good for the arctic midwest, but I find it quite comfortable to wear in the 30's - 50's.The ONLY issue I have with this jacket that keeps me at 4 stars instead of 5 are the comically small pockets.. Seriously, the reviews that mention pocket size are no joke. These pockets had to have been designed by a woman seeking revenge for their tiny pockets. I've seen bigger pockets on toddler jeans! Just don't plan on putting anything but most of your cold hands in the side pockets and you'll be fine. No keys/phone/hopes or dreams - not in this baby. You might get by with a crumpled up McDonald's receipt but that's pushing it. Thankfully there are ample interior pockets which are phone sized. All in all, I wouldn't hesitate in buying this jacket again or recommending it. I really do like it. Plus, HUGE thanks to Carhartt for the generous military discount!
We live in the Northern Rockies where winter lasts 5-6 months & temperatures can drop to -25° for several weeks. Majority of our lives are spent outside whether it's fixing fence line, blocking & splitting firewood or fly-fishing the stream through the place. Carhartt has been our main source of outerwear going on a 4th generation now.I wanted something durable for that shoulder season, as winter heads toward spring. A lot of times, need more warmth in the morning & less by noon. Got tired of packing 2-3 different jackets for the day. Purchased this jacket in Tall Large & fit is perfect. Have tested it out while swinging an axe, driving the ATV & snowshoeing to the river. Like all my Carhartt gear, from pants, coats to insulated overalls, this jacket performs ... Now, as we head toward March/April, when the weather doesn't know what it's going to do from morning to night, one jacket for the day will work. And, as always, just gets better with use, wear & washings. Thanks again, Carhartt. Please keep making solid clothing for people who truly depend on & use your gear for day-to-day life in real world situations.
I love the jacket. It works extremely well in the winter if you are looking for a nice winter jacket. Its super durable and comfortable. This jacket is also stylish and can be dressed casual and a little dressed up for a sales job per-say. I work as a sales specialist and I usually wear khaki's and a polo shirt and it looks great. It is very versatile and has many pockets for pretty much anything you need. It synches in the hood and the bottom of the jacket for the waits. Medium fits well on a build for a person that is 160 lb and fit people. If I was over 180 lb I would say go for a large, because of the arm length. You might be able to get away with a medium, but try it out and if it doesn't work, then return it. It is easy to do so at Lowe's. I have no negative ... MoreI love the jacket. I bought this jacket for standing out in the weather at farmers' markets and also for wearing out and about during normal daily activities. I wanted something weather resistant but also stylish enough to wear to informal and even semi-formal events. This jacket fits the bill for me, serving double-duty for both work and casual wear. The jacket itself seems well made (I've only worn lightly for a couple months) and has a nice number of pockets suitable for a variety of uses. I also like the sleeve ends that wrap around the wrists to keep the sleeves from sliding over the hands during work. The hood is also nice and warm.Overall very versatile and, in my opinion, a good value for the money.Note: I only gave four stars for durability simply because I haven't worn ... love this jacket. never had any intent to purchase a new jacket, but wife wanted one so i figured i'd grab one. love the look of the jacket. but the quality and warmth was pleasantly surprising. the fabric is tough and extremely wind resistant, but flexible and soft. i felt one at basspro and it was super stiff, not sure why the difference. i originally got a large, and it fit perfect as a fitted jacket. sleeves were good but waste was just below belt, felt weird being that high and it was akward to put hands in pockets. so i got large tall, much better. sleeves are a hair long, but perfectly fine, but waste is much better, and pocket placement is good. i wore it in low 50s for couple hrs with just a tshirt under and was perfectly warm. wore in low 40s also with ...
