How can you rate an L lens as anything less than excellent? Well, call me picky but I'm disappointed that this lens isn't a huge improvement on the optical performance of the Canon EF 28-135mm IS, but more than this, I'm amazed at the barrel distortion at 24mm. And it will hold its value very well too, always nice to know when times get hard! Nine years on, and a mark 2 version of this lens has been released. Having read the in-depth reviews of the new lens, I can see that some improvements have been made (it's slightly sharper and the IS is better) but the price seems to have almost doubled. On a whim a few years ago, I sold my 24-105 to get a 24-70 f2.8 L, and actually regretted doing so. Okay, the barrel distortion at the 24mm end was less, but I really missed the bit from 70mm to 105mm. I made the decision to sell the 24-70, and bought another (new, white box) 24-105 - the mark 1 version. The reviews I've read of the mark 2 didn't indicateto me that the improvements justified the huge jump in the price. I reckoned therefore that 500 for a brand new mark 1 lens was, on balance, a bargain. I'm very happy with the 24-105!

The lens was as described and in excellent condition and in original box and packing, I would say hardly used. I carried out tests throughout the social range using my 5D mk 4 and had excellent results the weather in the N of E Scotland has been atrocious and I have really not been out and about. I am very satisfied with my purchase.

This lens has been a great value. Fixed aperture throughout the full range. L series glass! Excellent range either for a full frame camera or a crop sensor. This copy has worked flawlessly with both my 5D classic and my SL3.

I usually do shooting sports photography. Lots of movement and weather to contend with. There is also the fact that I'm I'm photographing people shooting guns with live ammo so I need to stay at a safe distance. I've tried a few different lenses over the past couple years from 18-70 f2.8 to 70-200 f4. There's always that one shot that "almost" works but falls in the "sweet spot" gap between the two main lenses. This one is a beast! It checks all the right boxes with a nice overlap of my other workhorses. Color is pretty good so my post work is less. The autofocus is fast and quiet and tracks pretty nicely and the zoom is nice and smooth to boot This is now my walk about lens. I recommend it!
this lens is a great adition to a 6d i just got. lens is in superb condition, no dings or scratches. delivery was next day so super fast and it was well packed.It came in its original canon box and had both lens cap and lens hood all with it. i wouldve liked the bag that it was supposed to come with but this is cex, the great lottery bingo shop. as soon as i bought it for 285 they pushed the price to 300 so did i get lucky there? I am over the moon with this lens, it takes such sharp photos and it can stay at f4 all the way through the zoom range, its the greatest everyday lens for everyday shots.
I have rented a lens from Lensrentals and it was such a great experience that I am still happy by the service they provide. First of all the price was pretty affordable and the process of renting was very easy. You receive a lens via FedEx well packed and secured and then you have to drop the same box in any FedEx. That’s it. Here is a picture I took with this lens and Canon 5D classic and the picture is cropped of course. The lens is very sharp even on f4.0 and AF is pretty fast. I tried the lens on cropped Canon XSI and on Canon 5D classic and on Canon 6D. The results were beyond my expectations. I’ll definitely come back.
Very expensive for what it is, if you don't snap up a bargain second hand. I had to calibrate it to my camera as the auto focus was off at wide angles. Fortunately the Canon 6D allows you to micro adjust each lens you attach to get it tack sharp. I had the STM version of this lens at half the price and I have to say I was hard pushed to see the difference between them. It's only when you zoom in 100% you can tell and at certain apertures, the STM one is better, it's lighter and shorter (meaning at wide indoors you get more in the shot if you are up against a wall). I think L lenses have a reputation for being Pro, and it is, it has nice bokeh even at f4 but if you are on a budget, Canon's cheaper STM lenses come close enough if you are just a weekend hobbyist.
I bought this lens to go on my brand new R5 body and sadly i did not test it out at the shop as i assumed it was tested alredy as advertised as refurbished. the lens would not connect to the camera and gave the infamous Error01 code. This is a know fact on this lens. I just wish they had checked this before advertising it. I returned it and they gave me a full refund after they tested it also. But they wasted my time completely selling something that is advertised as Refurbished but was never tested. So test it at the shop if you can or order online for a 14 day no quibble money back guarantee. Lesson learnt.

Includes Lens carrying protective bag and Cleaner! No dust or debris. Shows very slight sign of use but everything works 100%." What it DIDN'T say is that there is a hairline scratch on the outer surface of the lens, in the upper right quadrant, about 3/8" of an inch long. When I first saw it I was disappointed, but thought I'd give it a try. Canon makes good lenses! I really love this 24-105mm f/4 lens. The internal stablization is an excellent feature. This lens seems slightly softer (less sharp) than other Canon "L" lenses that I've used. That's not necessarily good or badjust something to take into account if you are considering purchasing this lens. These are super durable lenses and last for many years (I had one for many years, gave to a friend and now own a second one), so buying one used is often a great way to save some $$ and still get an amazing lens with many years of life left. Just make sure you purchase from a reputable seller! If I was to mention one complaint about this lens is that the zoom extension is really loose. And similarly, if I sling the camera over my shoulder, it slowly zooms in until it is fully extended at 105mm. I think this is partly due to heavy, high-quality glass. But still, I wish it stayed put and was stiff enough not to be affected by gravity. Having owned two of these lenses, I can say that the newer the lens, the less of a problem it is. It seems to "loosen" up over time.
