Cake The Curl Whip Whipped Curl Mousse

I love this mousse! Maybe it's the baker in me, but I was absolutely drawn in by the name and packaging alone. It's so feminine and cute and I love it for that. The smell is kind of you love it or you hate it; luckily I'm in the former category. I use this product after getting out of the shower on my soaking wet hair. Since I have straight hair in the front and wavy hair in the back, I only use it on the back to enhance those waves. Unfortunately it does not have enough hold to give the front part waves (I need to use a curl gel for that). I would recommend this product for those with fine, loose wavy hair who want something that won't weigh their hair down while defining their natural waves.

So this is a staple always in my collection. I absolutely love all cake curly hair products, and the curl whip, the mane manager, the curl friend, and the curl shot, amongst many others, are absolutely my all time favorites. The price, and quality and the amazing smell, as well as the curl popping results every time that never fail me! My hair loves every single ingredient in these products. My wavy curly 2c/3a hair, as you can see in my pic, just bounce and are full of volume and definition amd softness. Absolutely in love!❤️🌸🎂🍰

4th mousse is the charm

This mousse quickly became the product that I buy multiples of. I have 2b-3a wavy curls with medium to high porosity, high density medium thickness and I'm sensitive to glycerin. I have the best and longest styles with this mousse using the MGM technique (I use KCK or blueberry curls gels) and microplopping. I can last 4-5 days between washes without accumulating build up. Normally my hair doesn't look so hot with polyquats but PQ-11 seems to love my hair. My wavy curls are shiny and juicy especially if I go easy on the gel step. I'm not in love with the scent but the results were worth it. I use it on dry hair for refreshing and it crushes frizz.

A little goes a long way

I'm not sure how much product everyone else is putting to make their hair feel crunchy. I have 3b hair on the finer side. I only use one or two small pumps and place all over my hair. My hair never gets crunchy or matted when using this product. It make my hair shiny, soft and defined. It's also very light weight which is what I need for my fine hair. I usually put some cream beforehand to add moisture to my hair and then use this product for definition. Bought on a whim and so far so good

I'm a fan of the Bumble and Bumble mouse but it is pretty pricy. I have been giving more low-cost options a try lately and decided to buy this on a whim. It 100% smells like lemon cake. I don't mind that, but I was curious what the whole scent debate was about. When you do start to dispense the product, a lot comes out at once. It is a really light mouse, but it is also kind of thick. For having fine, 3B hair, I was worried. I worked it into my hair and combed it through. My hair was really wet as a note. Then I scrunched it with a microfiber towel and let my hair do its thing. It is really soft and bouncy and is holding its shape without being crunchy. So far so good. Dent in container

I ordered this on line and there was a small dent in the container. I didn't think it would be a problem so I didn't report this issue. It seems that they either added to much propellant or the dent did make a problem. When you touch the button to get the product out it keeps going until your hand is over flowing with the mousse. Then it stops. I have no idea who I should contact so I'm just going to leave my concern in this review. The product is good but if this is how it comes out it would be too wasteful for me to buy again. I have used it twice and both times the container filled my hand until it fell off my hand. I like how the product does on my hair but having to throw away so much is not good.

Don't judge a bottle by it's cute looks

After reading reviews about this product even though I was hesitant I decided to still try it especially because I used their shampoo and conditioner which I really liked and their prices are very economical. However my hair really didn't like this product. As I put it in I could feel my hair being hesitant to it if you know what I mean. I had used a leave in conditioner prior to so my hair was very moisturized and once this mousse hit my hair it turned dry and yucky. I was so disappointed I ended up returning it and now for sure I will never ever buy mousse again unless it's chocolate lol.

Dry AND greasy? No thank you.

First, the positives: This mousse is extremely lightweight. If you have fine hair, this might be worth a try for the price point. Also, I loved the scent. I am a bit sensitive to some scents from curly brands, but this did not bother me and disappeared on my hair once it dried.But oh! That dryness. I have some mixed texture to my hair and found that this made the curlier parts of my hair look extremely dry and wispy/crispy, even with a trusted leave-in layered underneath. By contrast some of my sections with looser ringlets looked sort of dull, greasy, and a bit stringy at the ends (But they were not weighed down! So at least there's that.)Anyway, I have seen this mousse do wonders for other hair, but it clearly was not for me!

Everything I wanted and have been looking for!!!

This mousse is INCREDIBLE!!! When you first apply it can feel drying and a bit sticky, but once it dries you can scrunch out the crunch and it leaves you with soft, defined, and decently held waves/curls. I found that this is THE BEST product I have ever used for air drying my hair. It comes out soft, not stringy or crunchy like other mousses. It also hold my curl all day. The next day I just use a spray water bottle, wet my hair, and scrunch in a little more mousse, let it air dry, and my results are just as good as day one. Best second day results I have ever had. I pair this with the Cake Balm Shell 5-in-1. This is a product I will forever have in my stash. I'm very excited to try more products by Cake.

I spent hundreds on Curlsmith but prefer this 😂

This summer I was unemployed so I decided to stop straightening my hair and finally figure out how to work with my natural waves/curls. I watched hours and hours of YouTube videos and spent $300 on hair products. What I learned is that my hair gets super easily weighed down by products. Leave in conditioners and curl creams have not worked for me. There's more to try and I know how protective and restorative leave ins are so I want to keep looking but the compromise I've been making in the meantime is that I deep condition often. Aaaanyway... back to this product.... even gels weigh my hair down... and I was remembering how in the late 80's when I was 12 and had a perm, mousse was the only product I needed to give it volume and definition. I tried a couple this summer but my hair looked stringy. Today I tried this one and my hair was big and soft and defined, more so than any other day since I began. I do have to say though that at first I started to be disappointed- on the top of my head my hair was starting to form helmet head and I didn't really like the results at all until I decided to flip my head upside down and hit it with the diffuser for a few minutes in an effort to stop helmet head from forming. This did the trick though and the whole thing puffed up in the most flattering way, despite that not sounding flattering at all 😂. Also, I applied it to towel dried hair and used more than I had intended to because I was talking and not paying good attention but it ended up being fine. There was a little bit of a cast in some places but it scrunched out.
