Buffet never, I mean never, dissapoints.The E12F came out a couple of years ago and has been a staple intermediate/ semi-profession clarinet. Made in France and the keys are made in Germany, made with 100% grenadilla wood, sealed for consistency and beauty. The keys are finished well and don't tarnish. The tone is great accross the full spectrum, it's repsonsive, edgy if needed or warm depending on your emboucher. If you've outgrown your current clarinet, or you just feel that it can't keep up, it may be time to trade your old one in. I would strongly suggest Buffet, escpecially the E11 or E12 as your first consideration as an upgrade from your student model.Hands on reviewer, Sam Ash #41

Everybody knows Buffet for quality. The E12F does not disappoint. For anyone looking for a pro-level sound for an amazing price, this is for you. Grenadilla always has the best tone to my ear. Smooth and rich. The key action is very fast and responsive and the pads seal tightly. The intonation is spot on. Comes with a cool case. The step-up E12 is the latest and greatest from the French - German instrument company, featuring a lovely full granadilla wood body. The wood delivers an incredibly soothing warm tone that joined with the exceptional craftsmanship makes an instrument that not only sounds great, but is easy to play! The Buffet E12F Step-Up Clarinet Outfit is literally a step up from your student model clarinet for not too much of a wallet drain. If you are tired of your plastic or carbon clarinet, then this is the next step for you with a grenadilla body. The action is very smooth and consistant throughout the instrument. Great tone, a little more difficult to play than my old Selmer, especially with the right pinky positions. The wood on the top section did expand after a bit of playing causing the barrel to get stuck on the top section. Almost couldn't get it apart. If this happens, I was able to get it apart by putting it in the fridge for about 15 minutes. (Hey, it worked.) After that, it wouldn't go back together, so I did have to take it into the repair shop (Only $10) to get the top section shaved down. My teacher tells me its normal for the wood to expand a bit with playing, so this really wasn't that big a deal. I use the Buffet E12F in Symphonic Band. This clarinet has provided me with rich tone that my previous plastic clarinet couldn't even dream of. The only issue was the cork on the upper tenon fell apart and a key started leaking but after a $38 repair, i was back up and running.
Made from the choicest, all-natural grenadilla wood this clarinet sings to stars and back. Not only does it play like a queen, this instrument is stunning to gaze upon. Adjustable thumb rest helps let every player feel comfortable regardless of their approach. Backpack style case is included making transport safe and easy. Leather pads, coppered and silvered keys...
