This is the second brother laser printer that I have purchased and upon unboxing everything look good. After getting all the toner cartridges in and packing materials removed and hooked up, we started to use it and it started emitting a very bad burnt smell and then threw a code and shut off for 15 minutes for restart. I did this process twice with the same results. After investigation I decided there was something wrapped around the fuser unit roller. Upon finding this I assumed that I had missed removing something upon startup and I had caused the problem and decided to try and rectify the issue. The pictures will show what I removed, the 2 sheets of paper wrapped around the fuser roller was nothing I had seen, it seemed to be plastic coated paper with some ... MoreThis is the second brother laser printer that I have purchased and upon unboxing everything look good. I believe it is very lucky that it did not catch fire, the paper is brown and crispy from the heat. At the moment it does still work but I'm sure the fuser units life span has been shortened from the excess heat

To all those looking at buying a Brother Canada product: beware and read this first!I replaced my cheap disposable HP OfficeJet multi-function for a Brother MFC-L3770CDW multi-function supposedly made for professionals. I thought I would spoil myself a little - now I feel like I made a very dumb move. This scanner does not scan an area of 5mm (they say 3mm but it's more like 5mm) on top and on the left side of documents. While it certainly doesn't matter for typical 8.5 x 11 pages that have a white margin all around, it's a real pain when trying to scan other common things such as photos, business cards, flyers, or really anything else than a typical letter. What a disastrous design. This was really not worth the money if you intend to use the scanner frequently.Oh and also note that Brother Canada offers no way to talk to a human by phone - at all.The only way to get support is by online chat/e-mail form on their website and if your request does not fit in one of the standard templates answers then they are of no help. You've been warned!

Firmware updated literally in minutes with a simple click on the touch screen. That's where the praise ends. I bought this printer to replace a 14 year old HP Color LaserJet which is still working but often misprints and jams despite replacing the pinch roller. I figured after 14 years I got my money's worth so I was ready to move on.Using the L3770 I printed a document I had printed earlier in the day on the old HP. Instantly it was clearly noticeable that the text on the HP popped on the page where the same doc on the brother there was less weight in the fonts. The contrast was less and the font size looked smaller. Also it is a color doc with a logo on the top and blue notes in 8pt next to the 11pt main text (Calibri Font). The Blue notes on the Brother Doc seem washed out and both my wife and I noted we needed to strain to really focus in on them whereas on the OLD HP, everything was crisp, clear and highly contrasted. Next we printed a photo that we also printed on the OLD HP - the HP, although being a business printer, the image was detailed and vibrant, the Brother's image is "washed out" and even pixelated whereas this was not the case on the HP. I'm super bummed about this. I was excited to get a new printer and to get out of the HP ecosystem. Their pricing and practices for data collect and penalties for 3rd party supplies use has become greedy, invasive and predatory. I suppose if I didn't have the old printer to compare with I might be happy but I expected that newer equipment would perform better than older. It does not, not for the purpose for which it was bought, namely to print crisp clear clean documents. The Brother L3770 is quicker, quieter and more functional. Sadly it output performance lags behind technology that's 14 years older and was acquired for a less $$ I would have given this 3.5 stars but it wasn't an option.
After using inkjet printers in my home office for years, I was tired of wasting ink while unclogging jets, high ink prices, and other hassles that went with the "economy" of inkjet printing. I don't do high volume printing, but needed all multifunction features. I discovered the MFC-L3770CDW printer while shopping and decided to give it a try. I have not been disappointed so far. The print quality is very good, it is easy to use, and it handles the volume of work I do. It's not the fastest printer on the market, but at this price point it is quite good. While replacing consumables such as toner will be more expensive when purchasing, I will at least be getting the full expected print volume from each replacement. The reliability of knowing that the printer is ready to go when I am means a lot to me as well, if I have been away for a week, I don't have to worry clogged jets!
I've only used the printer at home to print a couple of pages and haven't used the scanner or copy functions so can't speak for all the functions. I noticed that the color's printer can't compare to that of a Lexmark all-in-one. I work in a school and had to print some worksheets when I noticed the color of one worksheet come out missing (see below for what at the worksheet should look like). I tried printing one in economic function to see what it was like, returned it to regular settings and there was no difference. The mountain on the left of the alpaca was missing. In all, I printed 3 sheets- all with the same problem. Again, instead of the mountain to the left of the alpaca, there was white space. So, I had to go back to school to print from the school's Lexmark printer which while old, was still more reliable than the one I bought. For a printer that costs about $500 before tax, you would think the quality would be better but I guess nowadays, the price means nothing. I don't know if I want to return it because it's a lot of work to have to carry this bulky machine (which was also a shock!) back to the store.
Yes, I love it. So many features for the money. Imagine having single-pass, double-sided printing AND scanning from the ADF or glass. Easy setup out of the box. Working well with all my Apple devices - iMac, iPad, and iPhone. It's fast, makes great copies, easy scan setup. I may never use the fax feature, but it's there if I want it. It takes the place of my previous 2 printers: 1) an ancient Xerox color laser printer, which weighed a ton and could churn out color copies like crazy, but could do little else. Replacement toner cost a fortune, and 2) a good Epson inkjet all-in-one, which did well, very slowly, never a paper jam, and was finally brought down by a software update install which misfired, from which it never recovered. This Brother printer is not light or small, but is somewhat lighter and takes up less space than the old Xerox, and the toner is somewhat less expensive. For the money, it makes other manufacturers' printers seem like toys! Note it is not really a printer from which to make photo quality prints. I think its description and the reviews and comments say that. If that's what you want, you probably should look at a different model. It's just right for me.
I purchased this printer 1 month ago and have printed 578 pages to date.I am happy with the quality of prints, print speed, quietness of the machine, and I am happy with the ADF for copying. Overall, it has been a solid machine and I haven't had any difficulties with it. Set up was simple.I am less happy with the limited amount of toner in the "starter" pack. The color toner is already low after 500 pages printed (about 300 were in color). And I purchased this Brother Lazer Printer with the hope of cutting my printing costs..... It's a bit disappointing to be low on toner already and Brother toner is pricey. As cost of printing is my main objective, this is my main factor for not giving a higher rating. I have replacement Brother Toner and will have to see if they last as long as the packaging claims.I am also not thrilled with the curve in the paper after printing. The pages are curved when they come out and need to lay flat for a while after. It is large and heavy- took two of us to lift onto the desk. The manual feeder is on the back which is a hassle if I were to need to use it.All things considered, if the replacement toner lasts as long as the packaging claims, then I will be very happy with my purchase.
I have had a couple of Brother printers previously. I had an older Black/White MFC that would probably be about 20 years old now. I was using that printer up until the end of 2022 and it still worked great. I moved and left that printer and a Brother color laser behind. I was always very pleased with the Brother B/W MFC but I was not that pleased with the Brother color laser printer. It generally worked but it would occasionally error with a very strange error that could never be resolved but a power off and power on fixed it. I found that it would also not come out of sleep all of the time. While I have not done much printing, it has worked flawlessly from Windows, macOS, and Linux. I have also used the scanner a few times. Scanning to USB works great also. The only reason that I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is that I have not had the printer that long and have not printed more than, at most, a couple of dozen pages.
I’m finding this printer more than sufficient. It is used in a casual office environment printing primarily black and white, and color documents ( not many photos and rarely on photo paper) and I have zero complaints. It’s responsive, that is, doesn’t need much time to wake up. It’s whisper quiet which is such a change from the previous model we had (epson artisan 837). Fast printing and much better suited to our needs than the epson was. No fault of the retired printer, other than being noisy and slow, we are just much happier with our new Brother, and feel that we have a higher quality product now. So very quiet, fast, and responsive, not to mention how pleased I am to be free of ink cartridges- loving the toner!
