Breville - The Soft Top Luxe Kettle - Black Stainless Steel

I got this kettle sight unseen when my old kettle gave up the ghost at the start of level 4 lockdown. I'm english so the drinking of tea is more important to sustain life than the breathing of oxygen.And so it does what I needed, in that it turns cold water to hot water. So 100% top marks for it's key function.But that's where it stops. There are tinted windows to see the water level, but the tinting means you can't actually see that water level and unlike the old one there's no light inside (admittedly that did explode in flames so perhaps a design flaw there...). Add in that the kettle isn't that quiet, and aside from the nice mechanical bell that indicates it's boiled then the only thing going for it is that it achieves it's main purpose. Breville Soft Top Luxe Kettle

The kettle has a elegant luxurious quality, the comfortable handle feels balance and lightweight with a solid grip and feels secure. The lid opens easily with a soft elegant opening, has a light touch control with audible alert that the water has boiled which is handy. The wide spout pours easily and looks great, the base is non slip and allows the kettle to be placed on any position 360 degrees. Highly recommend this kettle to purchase.

Breville does it again!

We really like this kettle. Its good looking with a comfortable handle. Love the side window as opposed to it being under the handle. Pours well and sits nicely in its cradle. Keeps water hot for a long time. We like the gentle 'ding' it makes when kettle has boiled! Also like the push button to open lid, very smooth. It has a long cord which can be shortened by winding it under the cradle. Would buy again!

Excellent quality and much quieter than other brands

We were looking for a new kettle for our new home. As soon as we saw the Breville Soft Top Luxe we were immediately drawn to its elegant style, it stood out from other kettles on display and the satin black finish looks brilliant in our predominantly white kitchen. The other feature we were looking for in the kettle was quiet operation, but as we couldn't test that, we bought it on looks and perceived quality of the Breville brand. We were delighted to find, when we first used it, that it was considerably quieter than any previous electric kettle we have owned, so we are extremely happy with our new purchase.

Goodbye Old Friend

My Breville kettle has been through so many happy times, sad times and special moments.For probably 20 years it’s been my constant go to and has never let me down, quick and efficient exactly there when I need it. Reliable and constant!Having to say goodbye was like saying goodbye to a dear old friend, so very hard to do.So without hesitation I’ve got myself a new version of my old faithful to continue with the amazing level of service I have been given by my old friend. I’m sure it too will shine to the level of service and reliability I’m used too for a very long time. Thank you Breville

Gorgeous but it won’t last a year!

I bought this kettle and matching toaster (silver finish) less than a year ago. I had read some reviews about the kettle lid not staying down so have been so careful with it, really careful and yet in the last week I noticed steam escaping around the perimeter of the lid. It definitely isn’t sitting flat like it used to and now steam spots the silver so even though it’s still working now I just know it’s not going to last a year. I can’t believe how gorgeous this kettle is, how cared for and yet how it has disappointed me. As for the toaster, tell me please how on earth do I keep the top clean. It’s impossible!

Great kettle

This kettles looks and feels high quality. It boils water quickly and will no doubt add to any kitchen. I originally had my eyes on a different white kettle from another reputable brand, but, after heading in store to check them out, this Breville was the only I was happy with. It has a sturdy construction and has a nice weight to it. A little pricey, but I’m very happy with the purchase. I can only hope it lasts as long as it should, especially considering the price.

Plastic taste

This kettle caused water to taste like what I can only describe as plastic. This taste was present for two months after which I tried to return it. The retailer, HN, refused to give me a refund or provide me with an alternative. The item is is advertised as 'BPA free' but it does have a plastic window for checking the water level inside the chamber.The kettle is heavy, loud, and over boils water for at least a few seconds. I am very surprised by all the good reviews. This is the worst kettle I've used for a long time. I'd recommend getting one that is all glass or steel with no plastic inside the water chamber.

Outstanding product, perfect build quality, form fit and function. Worth the price and it matches my other kitchen products color wise. Highly recommended for your kettle needs. I have used breville toasters before and knew when I upgraded my kettle I needed to buy Breville this time around. I made the right decision, I'm a happy customer.

Very stylish & easy to use

Really liking my new Breville kettle. Love the blue colour. It was a little pricy but that was my choice. It boils quickly and the soft touch lid and handle are very safe as well. This kettle will not cause any hot water damage to you or your kitchen bench. My only suggestion for improvement is that I was used to one of the all glass Brevilles before this and the little water windows on this model easily get condensation on the inside and can make it more tricky to see the water level. This is a minor issue only. We use this kettle multiple times per day and it is fantastic and stylish.
