I've never used a framing nailer, but I have several upcoming projects around the house that allowed me to justify this purchase. The refurb I ordered was basically pristine (as is pretty much the case with all the many tools I've purchased refurbished from CPO). Required a $2 adapter from my local, orange home improvement center in order to attach to my incredibly inexpensive 6-gal air compressor. Manual and bump fire trigger were included. While I have no basis for comparison, I thought this nailer was comfortable to use, nicely balanced, and the tip bit with tenacity into 2x4s I nailed together for some basement shelves.I set my cheapo compressor to somewhere between 70-80 psi and got reliable, consistent performance with 3" Bostitch fasteners. No double fires ... MoreI've never used a framing nailer, but I have several upcoming projects around the house that allowed me to justify this purchase. I''ve used this nailer to rebuild our deck. It''s so much easier to shoot a couple of 3-1-2" nails rather than hand pound 3-1-2" ardox spikes. Also, the risk of splitting lumber near the cut end is much lower with the nailer. This nailer is the only way to go, it looks large and heavy but it is much easier to use than pounding with a 20 ounce hammer. The hammer has more kick back than the nailer. Do yourself a favour, put away the hammer, this baby rocks. It won''t put half moon bruises on the wood surface that the hammer does. Makes a duffer hammerer into a pro. Make sure the depth is set just to the surface of the wood, too deep doesn''t look like a professional job. Counter sunk screws look really bush in my opinion. This nailer offers the best finished look. Buy ... MoreI''ve used this nailer to rebuild our deck. It''s so much easier to shoot a couple of 3-1-2" nails rather than hand pound 3-1-2" ardox spikes. This is an insanely strong fast nailer. I had originally set it up for bump nailing and found that I did not have the skill level to deal with this setup so after putting a nail through a window I switched it back to just the regular trigger setup. It's actually surprising how fast a guy can fly through 100 nails. Anyhow I used this nailer for framing (3 1/2 inch nails) and building my own trusses. There are a good variety of nail sizes but they range from 2 1/2 inches to 3 1/2 inches to be exact. Spiral nails are also available. The down side is the price of these nails should be compared with the competing nailers as in some cases they seem to be twice the price. But with that being said, the price of these nails should not really be the main deciding factor ... MoreThis is an insanely strong fast nailer. Also check for nail availability locally before buying this tool, my local shops really were limited on stock. Still a fantastic tool and not a glitch, well except that plastic nose opiece does tend to fall off on occasion. Another note, don't use clipped nails for construction that will be inspected, most areas won't allow them but for some funny reason the nails are widely available.

This gun holds way more nails than the cordless options. The wire welded nails jam way less than the other alternatives and hold up good in your tool belg and bag. Is very sturdy, many different features, such as; adjustable depth gauge, tool less operation, diferent trigger (bumperfire and single fire), rafter hook, large magazine, stud layout, measuring guide, adjustable air release angle. With the good comes the bad. It doesn't come with the male aire hose connector, you will need to buy one and thread tape. It is louder than other guns. It is big and pretty heavy, you will want to use 2 hands as much as possible. you need a decent sized air compressor. I would highly recommend it. But it may not be for the DIY people out there, this is an industrial grade tool.
I purchased this Bostitch F28WW nail gun after using the identical model my neighbor has. The ability to use 2 inch to 3 1/2 inch nails makes this a very versatile tool. My neighbor's F28WW only came with the sequential trigger, while mine came with the sequential trigger aa well as the black trip trigger included in a bag if desired. I like the option of having the CNTK5 trip trigger included should I later decide to use it for increased speed. The aggressive teeth on the tip also make toe-nailing a breeze. Being this model is industrial quality should mean it will last me a long time - and it is for sure easier to use than hammering nails. The tool light weight for one hand use makes it easy for to use one arm to hold onto overhead beams, joists, and rafters as I ... MoreI purchased this Bostitch F28WW nail gun after using the identical model my neighbor has. At my age, I especially need the added support of using one arm while working some 12 feet and higher above the ground. This product makes that easy.
I’ve had a compressor and some othe pneumatic tools for a while and been eyeballing and researching a framer. Quite happy with this tool. Make sure you wear eye protection with the wire weld nails. There are little bits that fly off as you are nailing. I should have been using ear protection. The percussion is pretty intense. Toenailing was a bit tricky at first, but overall I blasted off several thousand nails in my project and only had one misfire. The nail only went half way in and bent. It was probably the last nail in a string. Easy to pull out and move on. Really easy to load nails and adjust the depth.I also like how easy it is to adjust the exhaust direction. The tool is powerful and I would not recommend bump mode when you are firing big nails. It does ... MoreI’ve had a compressor and some othe pneumatic tools for a while and been eyeballing and researching a framer. I purchased this nailer refurbished and it appears to be in good working order. All original paperwork and accessories were included. There are light scuffs on the nailer from prior use, however I use my tools so cosmetic flaws don't bother me. I have not used the nailer I purchased yet, however my father-in-law has the same model and I have used his during countless home improvement/remodeling projects around my house. The nailer's weight and balance makes using it a breeze. I have had no jams or other issues while using my father-in-law's nailer which led me to purchase this nailer. Providing I have no issues with this refurbished nailer, I will continue to buy factory refurbished tools.
long story short, stopped working after using it for half a deck, was over a month old so couldnt take back to home depot. 7 year warranty so took it in, tech said it most likely wouldnt be covered because TOO much oil was used, which is rediculous, and that if it wasnt covered i would have to pay a service fee to get the tool back. One thing i did not know is that Bostitch is the same company as Black and decker?Dewalt which ive always known made garbage tools, had i known that before i would have never bought it. Basically warranty wont cover anything, i will never buy Bostitch again nore will i ever recomend it, correction, i will recommend NOT buying Bostitch
I always wanted one, but never had a good reason to buy one. However, I wanted add a walk way through my atick and the thought of trying to balance on the top of those trusses while I held the board and tried to either drive a screw or swing a hammer was daunting. I already had everything I needed but the gun. It made everything go a lot easier, I love using it. If you noticed I said it was too safe I meant it. If the trigger is evenly slight depressed before the nose is depressed you will have to start over with you finger far away from the trigger. It's annoying because I just struggled to get the board in place and hold it level with one hand while reaching for the nail gun with the other and then having to start over...err! But I've also pulled many nails from hands, fingers, toes, feet, and legs. I also now own a saw stop secondary to a mishap with a table saw and my thumb. Don't worry I still have it.. the thumb that is. I still think this thing should fire after recycle the trigger, not having to reposition the whole nose. Still beats the fire out of hammer nails by hand while trying to hold the board in place with other hand.
Framing my basement has been a snap with this. I used a pancake compressor and works just fine at 90-100 psi. No jams through 1000 3-1/2 inch nails (Bostitch brand). 1 drop of oil before each use. I didn't install the rapid trigger as I am OK doing it one at a time and is more accurate and less dangerous. When roofing I like the tap and go... I have some tendentious in my arm and didn't weigh enough to bother it during use. Great tool. Hanger is a plus. A bag/case would have been nice with it. Almost don't want to be done framing....
