These are great! Texture is like a cross between rolled and steel cut oats.Taste is fresh and flavourful. Love use these in oatmeal cookies. The extra protein a great benefit. The package is easy to use. Wish they'd switch from plastic packaging.Great quality and terrific natural ingredients free of additives.Wonderful for overnight oats for a quick healthy breakfast.

These oats are different than the usual old fashioned rolled oats that are steam rolled. The grains are smaller, as if they have not been rolled as hard/flat. I'd guess they've been more lightly steamed to retain more nutrition. The description on the package is not explicit but makes it clear less processing was applied. They require a bit longer cooking time. We like them better than usual rolled oats, mostly for the added protein. Once cooked, they seem more like a cross between usual rolled and steel cut oats in both flavor and texture. Highly recommend.

I really like the products from Bob's Red Mill. Unfortunately they have become very expensive (due to many worldly factors) when purchasing from Australia. I didn't hesitate when these oats were offered at a heavily reduced trial price. They are yummy. Makes a creamy porridge with individual oat flakes having a slight, delicious chew. Recommend.
Love BRM Protein Oats. My husband makes our morning porridge most days. He mixes rolled oats, Protein Oats, and either rolled barley or white whole wheat flakes, along with a couple tablespoons each of lecithin and soya granules (both by Fearn's, purchased from Vitacost.) We top w/ berries and hemp seeds + roasted walnuts. He uses about a 3-4:1 blend of liquid to grain, w/ 1 cup of the liquid being soy milk. We often have this with miso vegetable soup or steamed broccoli as well, topped w/ nutritional yeast, lemon and a little flax oil. Great way to start the day!
Time will tell whether I feel / see any effect from this extra bit of protein, but I love the idea of having a bit more protein as part of my savory oats in the morning. The texture is lovely. (4/5 stars because of packaging. Love BRM products but I continue to seek bulk food stores near me where I can get these items; since these bags are apparently not recyclable in regular recycling programs, I'd better find alternatives.)
These oats have a great taste and texture. They are smaller/flatter than regular wholegrain oats but I enjoy that. I love that it's organic because I think that means it is unlikely to be sprayed with glyphosate. It's got 9g of protein per serve compared to regular oats with 6g which is great too. Package is quite large so you can get many servings, although it is pretty expensive compared to regular oats.

I am a huge fan of Bob's Red Mill Products and oatmeal in general as a healthy breakfast and snack for myself and my children. I purchased this product at an excellent price and it is quite a large quantity. I am looking for ways to increase my protein intake so I thought I would give this a try. A big plus that they taste great and are organic too! I can use these oats in a variety of baked goods and you could likely ground this into a healthy oat flour for muffins and breads. Very versatile and yummy product!
I'm a first time user of anything but regular rolled oats (4 minutes in the microwave). It took a little getting used with Bob's Red Mill protein oats. First, they have a chewy center that regular rolled oats don't have. Second, they take longer to cook. But, I really like the taste and the chewy center, and I love knowing that I'm getting more protein per serving (as much as one and a half eggs). Suggestion for cooking: I used my ricer machine, on the white rice setting, cooked several servings and kept in the fridge as I would with rice. This ensures the oats are fully cooked and doesn't require stirring.
