Overall:In my opinion this microphone will hold it's against the Shure SM58 easily. It is just as rugged and delivers at least as good a response. It would be hard to live off the difference. It actually sounded pretty good compared to the Shure Baeta 58. Definetly worthy of the already excellent price. Hats off to Audix.

Jacked one into the board, set channel EQ to flat, and set the input gain to about 50%. Vocal checked, set channel fader to 0 dB. No channel clip, so adjusted the input gain higher, to about 75%- still no clipping! AND still had channel fader at 0 dB. Brought up the main faders to 0 dB- and got on it hard. The damn thing STILL didn't clip! They're pumping vocs out WAY loud and WAY clear! Aside from a slight touch of midrange feedback which easily adjusted out, these mics are the BOMB! Passed it over to our vocalist, told her to get on it like she meant to... And the vocalist immediately stole my mic... LOLNext thing we tried was their ability to handle SPL in front of Yeller Cab (4x10 custom-built cab). This time, we jacked one into an M-Audio box and set it up to run through Logic Studio, while I fired up Yeller Cab and stuck a wah in between the amp and a Strat. Tonewise, using nothing more than the amp, wah, and that mic, the result was INCREDIBLE! VERY nice, crisp and clear- the "perfect" tone, right out of the box!We even tried this on a kick drum. Of course, this is NOT a recommended thing to do (but, when you're in a pinch...), once again, the results were just phenominal! And this is a vocal mic!Yeah, these could very well be what they claim- a SM58 killer. Hey, I'm sold on 'em!

I've used my SM58 for 30 years and it's been very reliable. I needed another mic and decided to try the F50-S after reading the reviews. 5 star by the way. I can see why others have given it a 5 star rating. I can honestly say that a new F50-S sounds better than a 30 year old SM58.
Clean, clear response with articulate highs, easy mids and smooth lows. NOT boomy. Slight proximity effect. Well made. Easy to use.
I've used this mic for numerous competition events with an emcee talking the whole night. He sounds great, and the on/off switch is really nifty (and silent). Really clear and sharp vocals, never any feedback. Great mic for our purposes. Super reliable, too. Three years, 30+ gigs, and still no problems with it.
Nice clear sound like other Audix mics I've used. The proximity effect is more pronounced than I had expected, which isn't ideal for my application -- I'll have to crank the bass equalization down quite a bit. Would be great for some things (miking a bass drum, maybe? However, the mic still appears to be an excellent value. Feels solid and durable.
Great mic for musicians on a budget. This microphone will definetly hold it's own against the Shure SM58 at nearly half the price. Give it a try! It is also very durable, and can handle a few drops etc. Excellent gain before feedback and is built for the stage. Peace, Michael Angelo
This mic has a nice feel about it. The weight feels good in your hand. Not much handling noise like some mics. Gain used is for mic is less than most. The Shure SM58 might be a little warmer but this mic holds a close 2nd Place. Feedback is similar to SM58, very little unless you push the overall gain up. I use it for DJ and Karaoke. Well worth it!
Was just what we were looking for. Great price and ship time. Went straight on stage and did a show.
