After logging more than 300 miles in the Novablast 3 and hearing everyone's rave reviews about the Superblast, I had high hopes for this shoe. However, after making four orders to find the right size and fit, this shoe was meant for someone else. First off, the shoe is long. I usually wear a size 12.5 in casual shoes, so I initially ordered a size 13 based on ASIC's recommendation. However, I quickly realized size 13 was too big for me, so much so that I went down to a size 12 when making my second order. Of course, size 12 was too small for me; my toes were cramped in the toe box, and the shoe was too narrow for my right foot. For my third order, I thought I would find the sweet spot by ordering size 12.5, thinking the shoes were true to size. At first, all seemed ... Unfortunately, I began to experience rubbing in my right pinky toe and heel bite in my left ankle, both of which I never seem to experience with running shoes. In fairness, I did find the most success with size 12.5 in terms of size, but the fit in all three sizes I tried was never there. Also, I experienced trouble locking down my heels and the laces in all three sizes. After driving myself mad, I ordered size 13 again, thinking this would solve my issues with the fit, but size 13 was still too big for me. It might be just me because I haven't heard of anyone with these issues. Still, based on my experience with three different sizes of this shoe, something has to give. Hopefully, Asics will improve on these issues in the second iteration of the shoe because I still would like to experience all the hype everyone has expressed for this shoe.

I’ve run a little over 29 miles in these shoes, and so far there are many positive and only a few if any negative aspects. The shoes fit exactly to size. I typically wear a 10.5, that’s what I ordered and they feel great. They offer great support, cushion, but still have a good deal of return. My legs and feet feel great after each run. I would highly recommend these shoes. The only downside I could mention, and I feel it’s very minor, is that sometimes the construction of the mid and outer sole create a bit of a slap on contact with the ground. Normally I wouldn’t even mention this, but at times I’ve felt my toes start to pound the inside of the shoe a bit. Nothing major and I definitely wouldn’t let that dissuade you from trying these shoes.

After willing to restart running, I made a few research about what would be the best shoes for me. On almost every forum/article, the Superblast was mentioned. A pair with massive expectations that could apparently almost do it all. Used to run with only Ahari 7 and oh boy it was a change. At first, I felt a weird feeling when running and my feet were hurting a lot. Went from a quick plantar fasciitis to shin splints with them while nothing with the Hoka. Trust me, it was no fun at all… But after almost a month, some good stretch and exercices, this is now my favorite pair! The cushion might feel stiff at first but it goes softer after a few time out. I’d still recommend another pair for max cushion tho…The Superblast are incredibly light, very responsive and ... I have run with Asics - the Gel Nimbus type shoes for over a decade now. Recently, I bought a pair of the Novoblasts and thought them to be a significant improvement, very stable with good cushioning. I knew the Superblasts were hard to get hold of, so l kept an eye on the internet until a pair in my size and choice of colour came up. I have never spent 200USD on running shoes before.Initially l did not like them, the Superblasts are higher than the Novoblasts, they are wider in the front - which is why everyone says pick a size half a size smaller than you normally do. I had bought the Superblasts in my usual size but l have a slightly wide foot, so this worked out okay. I use a special orthotic insert and a small gel pad over my toes, thereafter the fit was ... The Superblasts need time for your foot to bed in to it, l initially used my Supers for short runs and the Novoblasts for longer runs. Now l have swapped them over and l did my first 20 miler in the Supers, massive difference, feet hurt less as l rack up the miles, Less concussion up through the lower leg/knee etc.Are they worth the money - yes.
I ended up buying a pair after reading all the rave reviews. And after a couple runs in them I just don’t get it.I am an older (upper 40’s) fairly new runner. But have put in over 2500 miles over the past couple years on over 20 different shoes across a broad range of categories (daily trainers, super trainers, super shoes, speed shoes and even some trail shoes) and manufacturers (adidas, NB, Nike, Saucony, ON, NNormal, …). And these are easily the worst shoes I own in terms of performance vs value. My first run was particularly bad in that I experienced burning sensations in the outer portion of my forefoot on both feet. I did not experience this on the second run but still was not overly impressed with the performance vs price. And the burning sensation is something I never felt in any other running shoes, ever. I’ve read other reviewers say they need a break in period. Sorry, but all other modern shoes I’ve used don’t need a break in period. So suggesting one is needed is not acceptable. In terms of shoes I use in a similar category (super trainer), I own and regularly run in two pairs of Endorphin Speed 3’s and there is no comparison. ES3 is hands down better in every way I can think of - and can often be found on discount for under $150. I also have a pair of NB SC trainer’s with over 200 miles on them, which are cheaper and much more enjoyable.Even ASICS own NovaBlast 3, which I was able to pick up for less than $100 is a better shoe for me. Feels and performs similarly with the added bonuses that I’ve never felt any pain in them and were half the price. And super shoes, forget about it - they blow these out of the water. Have done long runs and races in the VaporFly 3, Endorphin Pro 3 and adidas pro 3 and there is nothing I can say that is better about the Superblast vs these shoes. I understand these are technically in a “different category”, but for performance vs value comparison purposes it’s fair game. I got all those mentioned super shoes at discounts so they were about the same price as the Superblast or cheaper (even picked up my adidas pro 3 for under $150). Possibly the Superblast wins on durability? I just don’t have enough miles in any of these shoes to make that assessment. Although I can say I’m around 100 miles in my Endorphin Pro 3’s and they still look and feel like new. There are just too many shoes out there that are at least as good or better at a much cheaper price. So do yourself a favor - save your money and get something else instead.
Overpriced bulky unresponsive boots.Purchased these based on the hype. Well, its far from being a supertrainer. Initial feeling is good, lots of support and cushioning but this is when you walk around your house. For me - not suitable for any type of running or even walking. First - the drop feels like a 10 mm. LOTS(!!) of foam on the hill (why, why?) at the same time I can't feel any proper cushioning when running at the front of the shoe, no responsiveness either. My right feet feels numb after a while - never happened using other shoes. They feel much heavier than they are probably because they are too bulky. Not true to size - way bigger and wider at the front. Even when the laces are supertight the heel is still loose. So - really really not impressed at all. ... Well I would like to start with I'm 6ft 198lbs. I bought these as an upgrade to the nimbus 25 which almost blew my middle toe nail off after 18 miles long run. I broke these in before my long run I did about 50 miles before doing a whole 19 miles run in them. Now here is where the problem starts. If you're not doing over a 8:15 miles pace these shoes start to hurt. They are made for faster longer runs. I did use them in a 4 mile race at 7:56 mile pace and they worked well. I did 4 miles to the race no problem, I did the race no problem. When I got to mile 15 that day my pace dropped to a 9:17 mile pace I still had 4 miles to go and these started to feel like bricks Styrofoam bricks. I'm currently a Road runner in Nyc. These shoes were exposed to just that the road. The streets of the south bronx, manhattan, central park and randall's island as well as van courtland tortoise and hare track along with the back road type trails with hills. Never ever exposed to trails with dirt and mud or sticks. With that said. I'm so upset that this shoe makes you run fast without you noticing but the pain that comes after more than a half marathon is unacceptable. I didn't get paid to review the shoe and also I'm just irritated that these were marketed to me as a mataron shoe. 200 plus bucks down the drain.
The Superblast definitely lived up to the hype. I found that the insole for my 7 was the same as the insole for my nimbus 25 7.5 and 7.5 in other brands, so would recommend sizing down by half a size. When I originally tried a 7.5 I found the heel uncomfortable and the ball of my foot wasn’t aligning correctly with the “trampoline” pattern underfoot and as a result didn’t feel good underfoot. The upper is very comfortable and light. The tongue has adequate, well placed padding that aligns perfectly on my ankle and the outer sole has had no grip issues. My only critique is that the small areas of exposed FF Turbo foam are prone to picking up dirt and stones after most runs. The midsole is slightly firmer than expected, but broke in quite a bit over the first 30 miles and gives great response and energy return and feels great underfoot.I have found the shoe most beneficial for tempo, threshold and long runs. The shoe can be used for easy runs, but I would prefer the Novablast or Nimbus for this purpose as the foam is slightly less firm underfoot and I haven’t found that the high energy return is utilised as well under these conditions. I also find myself more inclined to pick up the pace in the Superblast as it is too fun not too! I found it a challenge to keep my cadence high as the Superblast make me more inclined to run like a gazelle due to the amazing bounce and energy return.Overall I highly recommend investing in the Superblast due to its amazing versatility and performance. I was very happy to finally make the decision to purchase it.
I bought the superblast on account of the positive reviews and what I was looking for in a shoe. I am a heel striker with pronounced wear on the outer edges of all of my running shoes to date. Various shops and analysis have given conflicting advice so I'm back to trial and error. I'm about 50km into the superblast with a mix of 5-10km mixed tempo runs, no longer stuff just now. I rotate them with endorphin speed 3s which has the outer heel wear issue (but I am 300km+ on those). Initial feedback is the superblast doesn't have anywhere close to same softer landing and roll off as the endorphins but makes up for that in the rebound and energy return. The rebound isn't in the same trampoline league as Nike Tempo2% which are insanely bouncy but don't give the same platform support when the foot lands as the superblast. I was expecting more of a trampoline effect from the ASICS but so far I can say they provide a wide toe box so comfort is great, platform is stable, rebound is very good, compression cushioning is so so. However, something must be working as these have consistently been faster than both endorphins and Nike's. Early days but so far so good. Bit expensive though, hence the 4 stars.

The all-time low was on 26 June 2025. That's the lowest price we've ever tracked — a great time to buy.
