Apple iPhone SE 5G 3rd Gen (64GB) [Grade B]

Well this is my first "iPhone" in a long long while. I had the 6 Plus when it came out and quickly turned over to Android afterwords. After the years kept on passing by the phone screens just kept getting larger and larger. Pretty soon people are going to be carrying around phones with screen sizes of 75 inch TV's. This particular phone has a screen size of 4.7 inches. In some worlds smaller is better. I'm not a fan of "smart" anything on a normal basis but since everyone in society insists on being sheep I'm now forced to live with this mess. Since I'm forced to live with tracking devices in my pocket and computers that are disguised as "phones" I want it to be as small as I can have it with as less on it as possible. I deleted pretty much every app this thing comes with with the exception of the ones you can't delete. I think I have a total of less than 10 apps total on this thing. Battery life on anything lasts as long as how often you keep your big dumb face shoved into it. Me? I can go two weeks without even having to think about charging. I'm not an addict. I make and receive phone calls like phones were intended to be made for. If you're someone who likes a smaller computer in your pocket this is for you. If I had it my way I'd still be using my 2006 Motorola Razr V3xx on a "3G" network. At least it was more like a phone rather than a computer. I gave this 5 stars just because of the size of the thing and because society/Apple wanted me to.

3rd gen Iphone SE is a great phone

Got this to replace my aging 1st generation SE that I purchased 5 years ago. Really pleased with the purchase, and refurbished saved lost of $$$ over new. Battery life is better on the new SE, screen is a fraction bigger but same small footprint. The phone is plenty fast with the new A15 chip. Its rated for 5G but where I live that service is spotty at best. Only got the 64GB version, but I don't use my phone for taking lots of photos or videos and I don't down load games or other memory hogs. Plus 64GB is double what my old SE had and I still had about 10GB open on that, so don't think that will be a problem. All in all really please with my purchase. A good phone

My wife likes to hang onto things and is not one for unnecessary change, so when the battery of her iPhone 6 suddenly failed I looked for a more up-to-date replacement. This pre-owned device has provided a useful and workable replacement, and I am happy with the purchase. This iPhone SE 2020 is a good replacement. The size is the same as the iPhone 6, the battery life has a modest improvement, it fits her previous phone case although the camera lens is not in exactly the same place. There is also the improvement gained from a hardware upgrade. My wife does not push the technology so for her the upgrade appears as an improvement in run-time when looking at TicTok. This iPhone SE 2020 has a small physical size, so if you are looking for a 'phone' without a massive screen this is a good choice. The 'home' button is no longer a physical switch, it has a haptic system which simulates the 'click' and works quite well. Migrating from the old phone was a breeze thanks to Apple's tool which is intended to help you upgrade your phone. The thing you need to know, and I discovered this by trial and error, is that youmust put your SIM into the new phone before you start the migration otherwise things do not happen.

Basically brilliant

I've had Apple stuff since 1993. But I held off getting an iPhone until 5 years ago - too expensive, I thought. That was an SE too and it was so exponentially better than the Sonys and Samsungs I'd been labouring with that when the time came to put it out to pasture/in a drawer, I bought this. A cliché I know, but really, 'it just works'; it probably has bells and whistles about which I know nothing but it does the basic stuff really well, has a truly remarkable battery life, and syncs with other apple suff really seamlessly. Best value mid-price phone

Having owned the 1st gen SE for five years the battery was shot and I was contemplating replacing it for a while, but I'm glad I waited for the 3rd gen SE to come out - with the same A15 chip as the current flagship iPhone 13, and even the upcoming iPhone 14, it has performance to spare and is future proofed as far as any phone can be. It also retains the home button and Touch ID which I appreciate and prefer to Face ID, especially when using banking apps and Apple Pay.The main camera is adequate for most situations and has Apple's latest image processing so the quality of photos and video is high. The front camera is of a lower resolution so selfies are not to the same standard.John Lewis sell at the same price as other retailers, but include a 2 year warranty which no one else does so represent excellent value for money.

Excellent phone - even if bigger than I wanted

I needed to upgrade from my old Iphone SE 1st generation due to it being about to become unsupported. I loved the small form factor of the 1st generation SE and there was nothing as small as that any more. I have very small hands, even for a woman so was not happy about getting anything bigger and some phones are much bigger. I was worried this might be too big and heavy. It's fine. I have to say I was a bit grumpy that it seemed unnecessarily wider and heavier, but I got used to it within a few days and now prefer it. I also like having the touch id still. It might not look as flash as the more expensive iphones but you get a lot for your money. It does the job. Screen is slightly smoother for scrolling. Good value with the functionality

For someone who uses all aspects of an iPhone without obsessing over advanced camera settings/quality, this would seem to be the best iPhone option. Has 5G although that is beyond the scope of my mobile contract so I cannot comment on that, but this phone should hopefully last for a fair few years (6-8 depending upon technological advances). Convenient size for trouser pockets and retains the home button for those who have not yet made the transition to facial recognition and who still are comforted by being able to press something. For those familiar with the 6S or 8, navigation will be very familiar. JL will also set up/transfer data should you wish as did one of my parents who bought one on my recommendation (to replace a 5). Not bad at first, but 1 year of daily use and it's completely failing in several areas.

I ordered this phone because my wife bought me Airpods and an Apple Watch, and I switched from Motorola phones because of that. I wanted things to work seamlessly. Well, at first the SE was pretty good. I don't have a complaint about the performance. It generally does what I need a smartphone to do, browse, download apps, light gaming. The problems crept up less than a year in to daily use. The battery life started dropping precipitously. Now, at about 15 months old, it is unusable. Literally charge it over night, do some light browsing, and half an hour later it's at 70%. By noon, it's in the red with little to no use. The apple lightning port is terrible. I'm going back to android and USB-C. I've cleaned and cleaned the lightning port to no avail. Not only the worst iPhone I ever had, but the WORST phone I ever used (my personal thoughts)

It also uses Touch ID which I actually prefer than FaceID as it's quicker and more convenient.It was a shame to hear that this could be the last time Apple support this smaller size and are moving the next SE to a larger screen, another reason why I wanted to get this version before they do.This phone for me is perfect in every way, and if you are able to, I would go for the larger 256GB memory size to really future proof this device.
