Excellent graphics, good lighting. Great and convenient. I love my little kindle it's so good and weighs the same as a Cadbury chocolate bar 🍫 I think it's a lovely purchase. I read at night and adjustable light is great! No glare, no issues. It's great if you love reading multiple books but don't want to carry them around with you.

Getting the cons out of the way first, this base model does have a low resolution screen that is not really suited for books like comics and manga on top of obviously not having color due to it being a low-end e-ink display. The user interface can be a bit clunky and not the smoothest to navigate, especially with the display being not exactly the quickest horse in the race due to it being (once again) a low-end e-ink display as well as having a low-end processor. It doesn't have most of the benefits the paperwhite models have such as better front-lighting, water-proofing, and a higher resolution screen, so I would say that's your best option if you can get one cheap enough. I happen to read a lot of light novels and this works completely fine for basic text. I've also yet to charge it since the first night I got it in the mail (over a week now) and it just hit 40% battery last night after using it a few hours every day during car rides so absolutely no complaints there. I managed to get pick this up for only $60 and I would say that for me personally, this model is well worth getting at the $40-$60 range if you plan on reading text-only books on it but I myself might actually upgrade to a paperwhite if I manage to find one around $80 or less for manga consumption. TL;DR - Get the basic model cheap for basic text-based books, get a paperwhite for books with a lot of images and for water-proofing.

I've always been an avid book reader so was hesitant to buy the Kindle, however, I had a holiday planned with limited luggage room and this was the best solution. I'll never look back, it's so easy, lightweight and versatile. Battery life is great, lasts for days on a single charge with constant use. I love the small and compact size, easily fits into my small handbags. Best purchase of the year for me!

This is an absolutely fantastic product for the first couple of years. However, the back is made from one of those cheap plastics that deteriorates and becomes sticky after two and a half years, which makes it very unpleasant to use without a case - and much less pleasant to use than when it was new.I had used my previous Kindle for over six years, and had never experienced such an issue - so it feels like the quality of the materials that are being used is much lower than on previous models.A real shame - as with a case, it doesn't fit so nicely in my hand.
I placed an order for a replacement of my 12 year old Kindle.Initially, it was out of stock but John Lewis have an option in your account to be informed when back in stock. Within the week I received the said email and I ordered on the same day.It was sent to my local Post Office as it was more convenient option for me.On collection I found it to be well packed and it was a tad smaller than my old one. I am loving this smart, compact, lightweight, latest and less expensive Kindle. It is super light and compact, can easily slip in my handbag. It is easy to handle and I can hold it in my hands for longer duration. Its display is anti-glare does not reflect sunlight, it doesn't stress on my eyes while reading. It just has one button at the bottom, no button on the sides which can disturb you while reading. You can quickly and easily change the font type and size as per desire. Brightness can be controlled and has an option of dark mode as well which enables best reading experience at night. This device has a well-organized home screen, you can get back to the book promptly. The keyboard in the display is wide for easy typing and search. My son is enjoying this kindle like me. This is the best gift for my book worm son. Overall, a great experience using this latest kindle. Definitely worth buying. I would recommend it to others as well.
If you’re considering this, and reading this review, you’re probably considering your first foray into Kindle reading. Good choice. A few things to note about this. The ads are not pop ups. I know some dead tree fans would have you believe, right in the middle of a tense scene, an ad will interrupt the page. That’s not how this works. What happens is, when you put the device in sleep mode, rather than say the cover or the portrait of a famous author, you see an ad. If you use the physical cover to turn on and off the device, you won’t see much if any of the ads. And yes, you can dog ear a page.
Screen is very crisp, backlighting has no hot spots and the night/amber feature is a good tint even in daytime. The only desirable feature would be if the battery lasted a bit longer, although I also absolutely love having actual tactile buttons - nothing wrong with the touch screen. They even thought to allow to reverse the buttons as to which does next and which does back. Once in awhile (like one out of every couple hundred page turns) the buttons seem to stop responding. One swipe on the touchscreen restores it; I do not find it particularly annoying or troublesome and I'm guessing eventually a firmware update will come along. Bottom line: This is an awesome product and it's already provided a lot of reading enjoyment and will continue to do so.
So excited to use this new 11th generation (2022) Kindle. I ripped open the package and immediately started the set up. I used the process recommended with my Kindle app and my new Kindle was set up in less than 5 minutes. The Kindle arrived with a 54% charge so I have ample time to set up and play immediately without having to charge. This newest version is short lightweight and will be great for travel. I’m looking forward to many hours of book reading at my fingertips. I enjoy the lack of pop-ups, etc that have become a daily distraction on other devices. The display is glare free and feels like paper/matte photo; very calming.
