The last time we saw the colonial marines in a game it was underwhelming and I was not expecting a huge amount from this, but have been pleasantly surprised with how it has turned out. The core gameplay loop is rewarding and the challenge cards give a nice twist for subsequent play-throughs. The atmosphere and sound design is really engaging and its great to fire off your pulse rifle in the tight corridors. If you have friends to play with, are a fan of team shooters like Left 4 dead, or you are an Aliens fan this is a must buy/play

AFE: Pathogen reminds me of the old console game Aliens vs Predator Extinction; particularly a part in the Alien campaign where the original Alien hive has to face off against a human engineered Alien hive. While Pathogen is ofcourse its own thing, this got me really excited about the new story content for AFE as there is this new species that is making trouble for the Aliens, and we get to unravel the mystery. While the content wasnt mind blowing, (for me at least), i am pleased to say that the story wasnt disappointing either.Pathogen is absolutely worth getting, (on sale preferably), but if nothing else it adds more great content to AFE, which is already in my opinion, a good and fun game to play, especially with friends. My only real complaint, and just like ... MoreAFE: Pathogen reminds me of the old console game Aliens vs Predator Extinction; particularly a part in the Alien campaign where the original Alien hive has to face off against a human engineered Alien hive. While Pathogen is ofcourse its own thing, this got me really excited about the new story content for AFE as there is this new species that is making trouble for the Aliens, and we get to unravel the mystery. I really like the game as a whole, and i want more content for it...MUCH more.Furthermore, and this may just be me, but I was also hoping that Pathogen would come with more of the ship being explorable; perhaps a secret mini game and or easter eggs, and things to interact with that you have to unlcock or discover somehow or something like that.Sadly that isnt the case, but maybe this will be something to come in the future! So if AFE has a problem, its that there is simply not enough of it to offer to the player, and Pathogen does little to quench the desire for more AFE. On the contrary, Pathogen just makes you want more bigger content sooner, rather than later. Not necessarily a bad thing, but also not quite a good thing either if you know what i mean. With all that said, i can certainly recommend Pathogen if you like the game and want to add more to it, or if you are thinking about getting into it for the first time. Just wait for a good sale.

Alien Isolation was one of my favourite first-person games ever. It was so atmospheric, frightening and authentic that it really felt like I was playing in Ridley Scott's Alien world.I was disappointed that there was never a follow-up to Isolation and I was even more disappointed when Aliens Fireteam was announced. On the surface, this title looked like a nother naff blaster like the God-awful 'Colonial Marines' and the massively-dated 'Alien Trilogy'. Whereas Isolation tried to emulate the original 1979 Alien atmosphere, these other titles all try to recreate the excitement of James Cameron's 1986 sequel. In the past, the results have usually been disappointing. So what about Fireteam Elite? In my opinion, Fireteam Elite is a good game. In the past, the results have usually been disappointing. So what about Fireteam Elite? In my opinion, Fireteam Elite is a good game. It's not fantastic, but it's an enjoyable title for fans of the series. Non-Alien enthusiasts would probably enjoy other first-person shooters instead, but for fans I would certainly recommend this. It doesn't grip you or scare the living hell out of you like Isolation did; it is pretty repetitive and it only takes 5-6 hours to complate the main campaign. However, it's still fun and addictive. I had to play it on Easy mode because it's so frenetic and challenging. I might give the regular difficulty setting a go at some point, but I wouldn't even attempt to play it on difficult, unless I was accompanied by two much stronger players. You can form teams with other players online, complete a number of quick-play games or just finish the campaign on your own, offline. Either way, you're in for 6 frantic hours or hell-for-leather blasting against increasingly challenging opponents.Enjoy
As a big fan of the movie Aliens I was eagerly anticipating this release. It certainly has a “feel” of the movies with good visuals that look authentic and decent, atmospheric sounds that add to the experience. However, unless you have a team of regular playing friends the gameplay sucks. It is boring, uninteresting and totally uninspired. It is also annoying- I shot an alien warrior at point blank range with almost 200 rounds from a smart gun before it went down and all the while it just stood there occasionally swiping it’s claws at one of my Teammates!Sadly this game is an enormous missed opportunity…
As a single player game Aliens Fireteam Elite is average at best, but that's not what it designed to be. Play with two friends (or random humans) and it wakes up from hypersleep. Great graphics and sound immerse you in an ALIENS type experience as you progress through four campaigns against overwhelming odds. The available classes are well balanced with a useful progression system. There are some rough edges, this isn't a full price game: the story is delivered through static dialogue scenes between missions; there are some clipping issues; some bugs mean collectible items sometimes aren't recorded. But it's minor gripes.
Could've been an excellent game, apart from the frustration of having to restart the mission from the beginning when you die.Playing on single player you're assigned with 2 AI androids, Alpha and Beta ,whose actions frustrate you at times by aimlessly running around. Also the lack of levelling up weapons ,etc isn't explained was a case of more luck than management that I managed to work it out.Apart from the niggles there is a good game, with plenty of references to the films, visually and aurally spot on..Shame it suffers from the niggles.
Big fan of the (first two) movies, so I was really looking forward to this. Mainly purchased for the single player but I got as far as the third mission before trading it back in. It felt off when you enter the "hub" and there is absolutely no effort made to make the models talk - you end up with a blank staring model and a voiceover, in 2021 this just feels... weird. Then the gameplay is just so bland and repetitive - I love Left 4 Dead and have played that with mods to replace the zombies with Xenomorphs and had a good time, but this just doesn't have soul. Get Back 4 Blood instead or better yet, L4D2 is still the king
Game was delivered very fast. New condition and zero issues on my PS5. Didn't play the game yet, but it is on the list. English on screen included and if you want another languages on screen you will need to download them due they are not included.
