This chain is perfect. It's relatively light, very easy to use, very high quality. I can sling it over my shoulder/neck and wear it while i ride.I have the shorter one, which reaches arond my back wheel and frame then a solid bar easily, but would recommend the longer one as well which may give more convenience.The lock it self is really well designed. It has a plastic housing block which the whole end of the chain goes into, and feels very very solid. To unlock it is easy as well, and the main key comes with a light for those times when you cant really see the lock too well.

We bought this lock to protect our recent purchase of a bike with pedal-assist motor. This lock is the perfect length to be able to lock up to anything, whilst having the highest security rating from Abus. It's definitely heavy, but not nearly as heavy as we expected, and it's worth it for the security.

Bought this after reading other reviews and deciding to not bother with cycle insurance but trust to this lock. Most good insurance policies for expensive bikes insist on gold standard locks anyway.The quality is very good, mechanism smooth and easy, lighted key is a nice touch and length is adequate. It is heavy but thats the compromise for the security. I bought it using Evans price match guarantee ensuring I only paid £86 instead of £120.Evans service was very good with money back guarantee HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ++

This is probably about as heavy as you want to go with a bicycle chain.I don't want anyone tempted to take my bike so I figure this kind of security is worthwhile. If I am planning to leave my bike more than a few minutes this piece of kit gives peace of mind. It is just about long enough to sling over my shoulder and also to go round most cycle parking stands.Good price from Evans.
It's heavy, No denying that but I got it to stop with the bike not walk about with it !Gold Secure Rated and ABUS standard so I hope anybody who likes my bike looks and then moves along leaving me to ride home !I've had one guy standing waiting for something ??? when parking my bike . . . Got the Chain Lock out of the Rear Bag, Waved it about a bit so it was on show, Locked the bike around Rear Wheel, Frame & Street Furniture and walked off a bit, to watch the Individual suddenly realise he was walking home without a bike, or certainly NOT mine !Saved me smacking him a few minutes later & the Police some Paperwork ! ! !
I have owned this lock for 4 years, living in Amsterdam as well as Portland, Oregon. My $2k electric bike has never been stolen. It’s is burly and very heavy & a pain sometimes to carry around with you (I used it on my fixed gear bike a few times but it weighed more than the bike & I couldn’t find a comfortable way to store it) - this chain is well worth it!
I already own some heavy duty chain which is pretty big, but wanted something a little lighter and less expensive.Checked out this bad boy, and for the prince deal it is well worth it. Although it is short than i hoped (i wanted it for more than one bike) and while i think it is pretty light, i can see some people thinking it's heavy (as i saw on other reviews).At the end of the day, i would rather carry a heavy chain about and NOT have my bike stolen, than compromise on a sub-standard chain just to save a bit of weight.
Quality chain. Just the right size to go through the rear wheel and over the seat of my Honda SH125i.
I also have an older version of this with a padlock, but this lock mechanism is much more convenient and safer. The chain is long enough to make use of trees and lamp posts, but massive enough to deter thieves. The chain isn't light, but that's a compromise for the safety, just wrap it around the seat post.
