Abu Garcia Revo 3 SX Spinning Reel SX20

I normally use Shimano Stradic products. I saw the sale and decided to give this reel a try. Great "out of the box". Reel feels good in the hand, is sturdy with good craftsmanship and appears to be very good quality. My first Abu Garcia. I used 6lb mono, 3' Rapala count down. Great casting, very smooth retrieve. Effortlessly landed a 3.5lb bass first time out with it.

I bought this reel at the beginning of last season. The first couple of times I used it I found it not to be as smooth as the cheaper reels that my wife uses. At the end of the first season after a cast and clicking the bail while reeling the bail spring broke. Sent in for repair which was free of charge which was nice. This season I brought it out to use again and found the real to bind once in awhile as though your line is wrapped around the tip of the rod. Seems a bit noisey and tough to reel in fish but does work. I would like to try another to see if maybe I just got a bad one. Abu Garcia is a leader in the fishing industry but may have dropped the ball with the Revo SX.

I had fished an elite max for a few years and finally pulled the trigger on a higher end model and it didn’t disappoint. It handles the rive smallmouth great and the drag system is amazing.
