Continuing the most ambitious and imaginative epic fantasy since 'The Lord of the Rings'. The Lannisters are in power on the Iron Throne. The war in the Seven Kingdoms has burned itself out, but in its bitter aftermath new conflicts spark to life. The Martells of Dorne and the Starks of Winterfell seek vengeance for their dead. Euron Crow's Eye, as black a pirate as ever raised a sail, returns from the smoking ruins of Valyria to claim the Iron Isles. From the icy north, where Others threaten the Wall, apprentice Maester Samwell Tarly brings a mysterious babe in arms to the Citadel. As plots, intrigue and battle threaten to engulf Westeros, victory will go to the men and women possessed of the coldest steel and the coldest hearts.

There are 1000 characters, and you sometimes get a little lost on who belongs to you, but it doesn't distract from the story. Even though he writes about a fictional world, he doesn't make up words just to make them up. He makes those 1000 pages fly by.I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next. If you haven't tried this series yet, I highly recommend it.

What can I say about Folio Society? Their books are gorgeous. They pay close attention to every detail - art, binding, paper, font, slipcase - and the result is unequalled in the industry. I find Folio Society books easier to read because their typesetting and printing are so clear! I can't recommend this company highly enough. They're helping to keep the art of bookmaking alive in the 21st century.

I have the first edition hard cover copies of the series; however, I cannot go past these editions. The quality of the books are, as with all Folio Society books, superb. The art work is magnificent. Every detail is perfect.

The exceptional Game of Thrones series from Folio continues with A Feast for Crows. Beauty and attention to detail has been the basis of this series and this release is no exception. Stunning illustrations combined with exceptional print and binding quality. They’re a joy to hold and behold. Value for money is hard to quantify. It’s easy to buy the same book for $20, but it’s not just the story you’re purchasing but the book itself. As with all my Folio purchases I consider these two separate entities and in that regard, this is a heirloom quality product that brings me joy, so the value is very high.
A premium quality collector's edition from FS which complements the series beautifully. What makes these editions so special is that FS take their time with the finest details and really care to make each edition special. The illustrator does not attempt to replace the reader's imagination and the level of attention given to every single chapter heading is outstanding.Looking forward to A Dance with Dragons, which, I expect, will be even more impressive considering the number of POVs and their varying 'identities'.These are simply the ultimate editions of George R. R. Martin's magnum opus to be read and admired again and again.
This is great, I think the Song of Ice and Fire books are the best value for money books from Folio. I've bought all of them so far, and this one is even better than the last one. The art, including the little vignettes at the beginning of chapters and those accompanying the list of the various houses, is wonderful.
Love the book of course, but unfortunately I need to score the review down because the book wasn’t wrapped. It arrived in the box dirty, which is really surprising because this order (which also included Dracula) is the only order I’ve received with the books not cellophane wrapped - Dracula was fine, but this one’s box is just outright dirty and when placed on the shelf the dirt gets on the other books in the series which I also purchased (were wrapped). If this was just any old book, I wouldn’t really mind - but this book cost £160! Especially annoying because this is my favourite book in the series!
This version of the series is obviously for those who are very into 'A Song of Ice and Fire' already, but for those of us who are, this is easily the best edition I've seen. Every new chapter heading, all the appendices, the cover and the protective case, they all breathe new life into a series I dearly hope will actually be finished one day. But even if it isn't, these special editions will feature most prominently in my bookcase.
GRRM is such a poetic storyteller. He writes so descriptively, you can visualize Winterfell, hear the snow crunching, the sword flying through the air...Reading this epic saga has filled my time with visions of dragons and direwolves, Starks and Lannisters. I have many copies of this series and I treasure each one. I have several notes in the margins and I @read these over and over, perhaps until there is one true ending...
This is a "trade" paperback instead of the more squat, smaller "mass market" paperbacks that I am used to. It won't line up on a bookshelf with the other books I have in the series. Not that big of deal, but might bother some people.
