1Zpresso K-Ultra Iron Gray - Coffee Grinder

The K-Max! Wow, first brew I made tasted amazing. I have a good automatic grinder but wanted something for when I’m making coffee away from home. I followed the grinder setting reference and it was spot on. Grinding was effortless and pretty quick and the grinds looked super even and really fluffy. A little bit messier than my bench top grinder but would recommend to any coffee enthusiast.

My first major grinder upgrade in four years. Have always used handgrinders (Hario wooden mill, Porlex) and just after buying my last grinder (a Hario Skerton Pro) the design and technology in the handgrinder market improved almost overnight. Got tired of reading about the improvement in the cup with a better grinder, so finally relented and decided on the K-Ultra. The difference is amazing: from the build quality, the user experience, through to the flavour in the cup. The grind adjustment is so easy now and makes adjusting and dialling in for each brew that much easier. First off, I need to say thank you to the AB team. I had so many questions regarding all the products I purchased, and they were so responsive, patient and thorough. AB are obviously huge in the coffee brewing scene - but with the level of service received, i felt like I was a special guest in a boutique store.The K-ultra hand grinder is unreal. Excellent espresso grinder

This is my first proper hand grinder for espresso. I was looking for well-built grinder that would be a good alternative to my Baratza Sette 270Wi – excellent grinder but very loud – a definite no no in the same house hold as our new born boy.This grinder is excellent companion for espresso lovers seeking grinder that can handle very small adjustments in grind settings with easy setting change and repeatability.I found grind setting to be accurate and consistent even when moving from one coffee type to another and back allowing me to switch between brew methods or coffee types easily without the need to dial the shot again.The build quality and look&feel is very good and I found no issues with the grinder function or form.While grinding darker roasts is fairly ... MoreThis is my first proper hand grinder for espresso. The narrower section is easy to grip even with my smaller hands and it doesn’t slip when grinding rendering the included rubber band unnecessary (at least for me).The calibration and setting the zero position is easy and grinding is fast. The feeding of coffee beans into the conical burrs is good with no need to shake the grinder to grind the last coffee bean like it is the case with some other cheaper hand grinders I used in the past. The magnetic catch cup fits inside 58mm basket allowing for tidy shot preparation.I am making mostly single espresso shots that require high consistency and this grinder fits my bill perfectly – therefore it is highly recommended.

Great results, highlighted aroma and clean flavours

Ergonomically it holds well even though it’s heavy. Easy grinding with long handle. Easy adjustments.The magnet bottom chamber needs to align with the top grinder or it drops….a few near misses with glassware.7.5 to 11.5 is where I have played for cone shaped filter depending on process and roast profile.I was really surprised how much enhancement it gave some coffees in aroma and flavour. Whilst others have choked due to fines.

J-Ultra - better shaped and lighter J-Max.

I've switched from J-Max S, which I bought recently and also sold a few weeks later just because I didn't know that J-Ultra was released. But good thing that occured from that buy/sell play is that now I can compare one to the other.J-Max is heavier and thicker which makes it a little bit inconvenient for grinding. J-Ultra is perfect. Grinding force is comparable. 100 ticks per revolution in Ultra is more intuitive than 90 ticks in Max.I got Flair 58 and coupled with Ultra makes them perfect pair. I make my espresso roughly on 100th tick (one full revolution from zero point) - there is no way you'd run out of scale for espresso grinding and clicks are so small that you may want to skip 2 or 3 clicks not to be overwhelmed by so many possibilities; but once you are ... MoreI've switched from J-Max S, which I bought recently and also sold a few weeks later just because I didn't know that J-Ultra was released. K-Max

After purchasing the Lido3 a few months ago, my grinding experience was still craving "MORE"The K-Max arrived earlier this week and I must admit that it feels in a league of its own in terms of build quality. Whilst physically a lot smaller than the Lido3, it is a solidly built unit of all aluminium construction.Adjustment of the grind settings is super simple (I am running V60's at setting 5 +3clicks) and the grind speed is quick & stall free - note: you will need a good grip on the barrel.I've had no concerns about the magnetic grinds bin falling off during grinding, the fit is really something.If you're a chemex player - this grinder struggles to fit any more than 35g of beans in the hopper. If you need a larger dose, you will need to refill.

Lord of my bean

Grinding with the 1zpresso K-ultra is an ******** experience. It has elevated our morning coffees to the next level. Love that it comes in a travel bag for quickies on the road. You can do it anywhere with the K-ultra! Kudos on the ergonomic design; for something so thick, it's very comfortable to wrap your hand around during vigorous use. I should also take the opportunity to mention the blowy that is included; such a thoughtful touch to an already incredible package. I see you shiver with antici.......pation.

I had struggled through using the Hario Skerton Pro for a few years and I thought it was just the fact of manual hand grinders. Decided to bite the bullet for an upgrade and -- the experience couldn't be more different. Firstly, the body of this is so much more ergonomic to hold while grinding. Secondly, I am not a very strong person but the ease of grinding with this (both the strength required and the time) is leaps and bounds better. Thirdly it is so much easier to calibrate the grind size, and it looks much more uniform than the result I got out of the Hario. Last week I took the K-Ultra apart to clean and got it back together in about 15 minutes. The Hario was much harder to put together right and very tricky to calibrate. If you are looking for a speedy and durable hand grinder for your lever espresso machines (Cafelat Robot & Flair), this is the final match. Quick, strong & reliable, giving perfect particle size distribution. But: forget it for filter coffe... (for V60, Orea, Kalita, etc. buy a ZP6 or Comandante instead!)
