Zojirushi Micom Rice Cooker & Warmer NS-TSC18XJ Up to 10 cups / 1.8 liters / Stainless Brown (-XJ)

Pricey, but high quality and lasts a long time. My partner had this rice cooker before he met me and it still works despite being over half a decade old. The rice is always perfect and goes to warm after it's done. This rice cooker even alerts you with a little song after it's done. I've cooked not only rice, but shrimp teriyaki rice, shumai and pork dumplings for the two of us. He made the right call getting this product from such a reputable brand even though it was pricey. It has never broken down and when I lived with my family, they got the cheapest rice cooker and had to replace it every couple years.

For a family that needs rice on a daily basis, I would say this rice cooker is a fantastic product. Its compact design blends in wonderfully with all of my other items. It is so easy to use and the rice comes out perfectly every time (both on the quick setting and the regular setting) - fluffy and sticky and not too mushy and not too hard. Rice warmer setting is a very nice addition as well. I left it to keep the rice warm for 12(ish) hours and the rice was still perfect inside - not dry. It is also versatile; it makes cake and other recipes, and doubles as a steamer. The non-stick inner pot makes cleaning a breeze, The retractable cords keeps things nice and tidy. Best rice cooker I've owned.

Every grain was worth the splurge!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this rice cooker! Not one regret on this splurge. My 8 year old rice cooker finally decided to kick the bucket and so it was time to do some research. I had a cheap rice cooker before but it did the job. Toward the end the quality of the rice was just not the same and I really didn't enjoy it. I was SOOOO excited when the Zojirushi arrived and got right to cooking. I cleaned it and followed the super easy step by step instructions and we were ready to roll! The results were heavenly! Great Features but Flimsy Construction

The 10-cup model is the perfect size for our family. The functions are easy to understand and use. The unit and the accessories are easy to clean. For a big unit, it is actually quite light and easy to move around in the kitchen. The retractable cord is awesome too, but it requires a few perfect tugs to retract it because it gets stuck if you pull it the wrong way.On the second year of using the rice cooker, however, the plastic surrounding the hinge of the lid started to crack. Right now, the crack has gotten much bigger. We feel that the plastic material used is too thin/flimsy and it definitely couldn’t handle the constant opening and closing of the lid. We invested in this rice cooker thinking that it would last us a long time (our cheaper, old rice cooker we’ve had for 8 years).We don’t know what the long-term effect of the cracked lid is going to be on the cook, but so far the rice still comes out great - and that’s the most important thing.We have no idea how to fix it or if this is even part of the warranty. We hope Zojirushi takes this into account for the future to help improve their products.We will probably try another brand after this - did not meet expectations.

It would be perfect if we ate more.

Our long-serving smaller Zojirushi rice cooker quit -- and we wanted to replace it. We are a two-person family and the cooker turned out a perfect small quantity of brown rice several times a week. We liked the Zojirushi quality and thought the "small" 51/2 cup would work. It does do a pretty decent job for us, but we have to cook a larger amount -- resulting in waste. Also, it takes up a lot of room on the counter of our small kitchen. Friends purchased another brand of a smaller cooker, but we passed up that solution because we so loved our old one. Did we goof?

Learning curve

The rice cooker was highly recommended and hopefully it would help me include rice in our meals.I was disappointed that Williams & Sonoma charged me postage and handling. I went in the store and they did not have it in stock. That translated to a $10.00 charge for me. They did not mention this charge btw. I found it on the receipt email. I will be unlikely to shop in the local store again.The instructions were a not how a typical recipe would proceed so I struggled a bit to understand what to do. I wanted to cook long grain brown rice (what my local store had on the shelf) and there was instructions for long grain white rice and brown rice. I went to youtube and found a kind person showing me what to do with what I had. Rice cooker with steamer function is great

I always like Zojirushi's rice cooker and have been using it for many years.I used to have the smallest, 3 cups one, because it's portable and easier store away. But the smallest model doesn't have steam function. This time, I picked the the 5.5 cups rice cooker with steamer function. Zojirushi always cook rice great! I have used steamer function few times already, and really enjoy the convenience of steamer too. 5.5 cups rice cooker is not very big, so it's also easy to be put away when I am not using it.I wish the steamer part can be a bit deeper. Otherwise, a great produce and always very nice designed

BUYER BEWARE! This is not the Zojirushi rice cooker that is made in Japan. I bought this rice cooker March 4, 2024. Used it 3 times. April 2, it began giving me a H 20 error. I researched and learned that the error means the top of the cooker is over heating and that I needed to wait for the cooker to resume. 10 minutes later I look at the machine and it is in the "off" setting. I pressed the setting for brown rice and it started over, 110 minutes to cook completion. My dinner was nearly done and the rice restarted and wouldn't be done for over an hour and half thereafter. Best Buy only gives a 15 day warranty, so I was beyond the window of return. To this very day I've never been able to cook my white rice just like she did until I got this really nice Micom Rice Cooker that has fuzzy logic technology.
