If you hate the original try this! I hate the OG black opium it smells like old ladies and just really awful in general. This one however has a fruity green twist to it it's a lot more fresh and young compared to the original. It doesn't have the same bite and bitterness of the original. You can really smell the coffee but also a fruity sweetness to it. I usually stick to more fruity floral perfumes like Burberry Her Blossom, Idôle Aura, Ari by Ariana Grande, or anything fruity fresh. Illicit green is really out of my comfort zone but I think if you’re wanting to try something gourmand this might be a good try! I love it, it smells like a sexy date night perfume!

I never liked the OG. But this, thus right here, is beautiful. Fragrance is subjective to each individual. So while some say it smells the same, that’s to that person. I HATED the OG. I ADORE this one and will be buying a full size. The fig is beautiful, there’s a creamy richness, the scent is gourmand without being sickly sweet and the coffee comes out in the dry down. It’s gorgeous.

Dear Allergy Suffers,Buy this!I have worn the same perfume for 15 years because of my allergies. I have broken out in hives and ended up in the ER because of the smell of perfumes. Not this beauty! It smells like heaven, home, coffee and warmth. You have to try this! It's a must have!!!

Smells like a faint copy of the original; I honestly can’t tell any difference at all. If you like a scent that has less lasting power than a body spray from bath and body works circa 1997, this is the one for you. Zero lasting power. Zero. Even spraying over a thin layer of moisturizer of Vaseline. Thankful I got the 10mL version as a blind buy so as to not waste even more money on the bottle of hot swap water
This was a blind buy based on my love for the original. A lot of the reviews I saw said it smells the exact same as the original. I think when you first spray this, it definitely smells almost identical. However, on dry down, it smells like the original but a fruity, sweet, light, fresh scent. The original is a more dark and heavy dry down. Very similar but different! I will say it doesn’t stick around as well or project as well as the original - but I’ve found that using Vaseline under it does help with longevity.

It’s hard to review perfume on smell so I will review it on longevity and scent throw. Obviously I think the smell is delectable.Longevity is great. I smell myself all day long.Scent throw is maybe a 3/5 unless you spray yourself like 10+ times. I prefer like 3-5 spritzes.Packaging on the travel spray is meh but who cares lol. At least it’s not a rollerball.
I am a die-hard OG YSL black opium fan. It’s been my near daily fragrance since it came out. I always purchase travel sizes of the new varieties whenever they’re released just to try them out and see if any of them are even better than the original. So far, this one smells almost exactly the same as the original. If anything, the only difference I can tell is that it isn’t quite as long lasting. If you already have the original, skip this one. By no means is this a bad fragrance, but you aren’t missing anything new or noteworthy.
