I decided to try this when I saw it on sale and I’m glad I didn’t pay full price. We have and love three of the original Marpac Dohm machines in all bedrooms as well as a travel Rohm.This machine doesn’t compare. The sounds are all very synthetic/electronic sounding. The white noise buttons sound nothing like the Dohm. The others are awful compared to the options on the (much cheaper) red rooster sound machine in our guest room. Also, the plug for this thing is ridiculous. A micro usb plugs into the machine itself and the wall plug has a GIANT usb-to-wall base that sticks out about two inches from the wall. Add in the usb itself and this is an obscenely large obstruction sticking out of your wall. Will not fit behind anything so you’ll be looking at this eyesore.

I bought one of these several months ago and use it every night. I absolutely love it! I bought my friend one for Christmas after he said he had trouble sleeping after moving from a house to an apartment. I gave him ample time to test it before I asked if it was helpful. He told me he loved it and especially since it had lots of options. Now I’m thinking of buying another one for when I stay at a hotel to drown out the noise from the hallway and the traffic.

I can't tell how they're so special, nor what makes them different to the white noises. I feel like saying that there are 16 different noises is a bit of an over-exaggeration. The signature dohm sounds really just seem like generic white noise variations. The ocean noise is also very similar to a white noise. (you can find examples of all these noises on their website before you buy it) However, on a good note: the chimes, meditate, relax, restore and calm noises are all very different and all very very lovely. I sometimes use these while I'm working for background noise and really enjoy them. I also enjoy the 'rain' noise for sleeping and this seems to be the one my toddler prefers too.My only other issue is that there is a 'timer 1' and 'timer 2' button which I believe are timers for 6 & 8 hours respectively, but there is no light on the machine (probably good for night-use I guess) but that means I can't tell which button has been selected nor when it was selected. So if I put our son to bed, and I push the 'timer 1' button, then I can look at my clock and know what time it will turn off. But if someone else turns on the sound machine and makes a selection then I will have no idea of knowing if it was set to 6 or 8 hours nor when it was set. This is slightly annoying to be honest.So, one of the features of this explains: "Compact, sleek design fits in anywhere. You can even take your sleep environment with you to get a better rest on the road."... but I'm really not sure how someone could take this on the road. You'd have to make sure that while you're on the road you have a viable electric source, or could plug it into your laptop while you sleep.So I gave this 3-stars. It's very pretty, some of the sounds are just lovely, and it does it's job - but it's also very inconvenient and you have no way of knowing which button you've selected after you've selected it. In hindsight, if I'd done a bit more research I don't think I would have bought this one. But, it does it's job and we're stuck with it now :)

The power button doesn’t always want to work, which is very frustrating since it’s only a couple months old. Has a variety of sounds to choose from. However, I prefer the original dohm that you can twist to make the pitch of the white noise change instead of the preprogrammed buttons. Was also disappointed to find that the cord is a removable USB cord that you have to find a plug in for, versus a standard cord (which our original dohm has). All in all, it does the job (as long as the button wants to work) but it’s not as great as the original style Dohm sound machine. I wouldn’t buy this style again.
I’ve used it a couple times since I got it within the last month. It worked fine then. Last night it seemed to quit working. It wouldn’t turn on or sound. Today I unplugged the USB then plugged it back in—it started working. The USB wasn’t loose. Not sure what’s happening with it. Would prefer more sounds & less dohm. I understand the need for variety.
I have bought two of these sound machines for my kids and both of them stopped working just after a year of having them. In both cases it was the plug that failed. The micro USB feature is a massive design flaw. After about a year it started to constantly disconnect and then eventually it stopped working entirely. When it was new we loved it and the sounds worked well for the kids. However, I am disappointed with the longevity of the sound machine and unfortunately it's not under warranty anymore.
We have been playing white noise sound on our mobile phone YouTube app during sleep. But this one is certainly much better and pleasant sound, also now I will hopefully have less screen time counted on phone. Decent # of sound variation but we have been mostly using the relevant ones for sleep. Wish this also had battery options so that we don’t need another one for travel. But we needed much at home and are extremely happy with this purchase.
USB plug and cord are too short than what I need for placement near bed.I have used a Dohm classic / original sound machine with long cord for over 30 years and actually don't need the many sound selections. I also think more could go wrong with the system. A bit smaller than the Dohn is a plus, as is volume control.I just need the basics white noise sound. But thought I would try this machine since I got a good price.
I’ve bought 3 now- one lasted four years and the charge port somehow became loose and it didn’t always work. I replaced that one. Our second one now doesn’t work at all and it’s because of the same problem. The charge ports are cheap, and it’s disappointing. They sit on dressers and play noise- there should be no reason that the charge ports are so weak.I don’t think they are under warranty anymore, either.
