I was hesitant when ordering the guitar, but after I received it worry washed away from a single glance. I'm not good at instruments, I never played anything than doing ukulele club when I was a kid so I didn't expect myself to buy a guitar. It's delicate and beautiful, feels great to hold and sounds just as good. I do not regret buying this guitar at all, in fact I'm greatful that I'm able to own it. I strive to become great at playing it, little by little . Thank you!

After getting flooded out in a freak rainstorm at a Farmers Market I decided I needed an inexpensive guitar to play at outside venues. (Also at some gear unfriendly open mic's I could name.) Something I could play - yet not greive if it got damaged. After reviewing the usual suspects I settled on the Pacifica either 112V (not available) or the 112DLX - Straight out of the box, the DLX was set up to spec, no adjustments needed (but I still liked to fuss over it a bit), surprising good looks, and a good variety of sounds and plays nicely - what more could you ask for?

Kit gets you entry level guitar, tuner, amplifier, gig bag and amplifier. Instrument cable probably needs to be replaced right away. Even with pricing in a quality replacement cable, I believe this is a good value. Amplifier is fine at low volumes and fine for 'bedroom' practice. Buzz reported in amp is just strings on guitar slightly vibrating. Mute strings with hand and buzz disappears.Yamaha app on Android is a bit confusing for registration of the kit. It's best to register guitar and amplifier separately. Pacifica012 and GA15II. This gets you access to downloadable PDF manuals. GA15II manual not online at Yamaha website, only the older GA15 model.

Great Guitar
28 November 2020

Bought this for my son who wanted to have a decent electric after playing acoustic for the last 2 years. Thought this was a good buy on sale. When it arrived we were both pleasantly surprised by the quality. It is a stunning looking instrument. Beautiful finish, much better than we expected for the incredibly low MF price. Then we plugged it into a standard 15W Marshal and it sounded great! The chords rang beautifully and soloing sounded crisp and raw all at once. And the sustain was impressive. My son used to sneak my old Yamaha AES 620 into his room to practice, but now he won't let me sneak away with his "cheapo" Yamaha. I have to say, this is just another great find on the MF site. I haven't been disappointed with any purchase big or small ever over the years. ... MoreBought this for my son who wanted to have a decent electric after playing acoustic for the last 2 years. Great Value, Good Guitar.

I am a singer song writer and mostly play acoustic. However I have been using an Electric more and more and wanted something affordable but quality. So far I have been extremely happy with the Yamaha. I did the set up myself, and it feels great, didn't take too much work from out of the box to feeling fine. The pickups could be hotter, they are fairly quiet, but the great thing is, it's a cheap guitar, so I'm not too worried about upgrading it piece by piece. I think it makes a great foundation piece, for what will be an awesome sounding guitar. However, it is still very playable and fun, in the mean time. The only issue I have had, even after I did the set up, is after a few hours, it starts to go a few degrees sharp, not too bad, but noticeable. It doesn't bother me too much cause I keep a headstock tuner handy. But, I don't know if I have the skill to do the work, and don't want to pay someone, so it probably won't be fixed soon. Other than that, very good guitar.

Great for the price - very good quality

I have bought several guitars in the 100 to 300 range. I was surprised on the quality of this guitar and felt it was superior to many other brands in this range. From neck joint to fret polish & leveling and finish this guitar is quality except the tuners, however the guitar stays in tune and rarely goes out. The neck is not a Fender Strat or Tele neck so don't expect it to play like one, Its its own thing. It is not wide at the nut so if you need a wide neck at the nut it may not be for you. I find it fine and would not consider it narrow. The neck is slightly fatter than a Squire neck but it is still a C shape and a bit thicker as you go up the neck to higher frets. It plays great. Its set up well for Rock and Blues playing, neck adjusted with a light bow and strings set low (but not to low to buzz). Bridge saddles are stainless steel and this make the strings ring out bright and loud even when not plugged in. Intonation was spot on. Frets are tall enough to allow for string bending (there not super low). As regards pickups this is a personal thing. Pickups are very basic and do okay, one may want to upgrade them to ones own liking other wise there fine.

Hands down, the Best Value

In the 20+ years that I've been playing electric guitar (over 10 years on stage with different bands) I've owned some great instruments from Fender MIM Strats to American series to a Gibson Custom V and I could go on and on naming the various boutique instruments I've owned over the years. After falling on some difficulties in life and finally picking myself back up I was looking for a low cost but high quality electric guitar that could do everything I needed it to do and the Yamaha Pacifica 012DLX is exactly that. For the price, I really don't think anything else can beat the Yamaha Pacifica. After playing so many and owning so many strats through the years, this Pacifica has me scratching my head at why I ever spent all the money I did when I could have just picked one of these up. The neck is smooth, fast, and fat the way I like. It's kind of in between a Gibson neck feel and a Fender neck feel. With the flattened fretboard radius, fingerpicking is as much a breeze as anything else on this Pacifica sitting next to me. There's something about the way that neck is made and the way Yamaha cuts the contours for the body that make this a simply more comfortable guitar to hang onto and to play on. You know a great guitar by how it plays unplugged, and the Yamaha Pacifica delivers even on that front which fully surprised me at this price. Plugging this thing in made all my dreams come true. The single coils have THAT sound if you know what I mean, and the humbucker on this thing is far above and beyond what I would expect in this range. Clean, reverb, overdrive and dirty, no effects, flanger, everything sounds great with this guitar. It's a versatile workhorse and I can't wait to take mine on stage just to show folks you don't need to spend thousands of dollars on gear. People say this is the best beginner guitar and it is certainly that, but pros need to take a second look at the Yamaha Pacifica.

Pacifca's are all-around workhorses that play well for the $
26 August 2017

Pacificas are all around work horse guitars. These make great beginner guitars as they offer a lot of quality and very good playbility/dexterity of the neck for the price. The only electric guitars I like better are Terry Mcinturffs (I've got a TM Polaris-love that guitar), PRS Custom 24, and the higher end ESP, G&L, Fender, Gibson or Ibanez stuff. My point is you WILL NOT find a better electric guitar than the Pacifica for $300 or less. These things are very smooth playing and decent sounding for all types of music. No they are NOT the best but they are EXTREMELY good for the price and give you a lot of function and playbility for a small amount of money. I think many beginners quit guitar because they have (often a gift) junky starter guitars with TERRIBLE actions and necks on them that play just awful. If you take nothing else from this review just know that this will not be a problem for you as a beginner with a Pacifica- you're not going to quit too early (before having a chance to build some skill) because your guitar plays poorly. I could barely fret a note when I started now I play Queensryche solos. Looking at the Pacifica-you can't find a better/faster playing neck in all the dozens of guitars Ive tried over the years unless you're spending $7-800+. Below that price point these things are great. My guitar instructor has all kinds of gear and guitars in his collection and chooses to teach with the Pacificas as they have great necks and actions for the money and he's not concerned if it gets lost/stolen from his studio or otherwise damaged in some way. If you go jam with some people you don't know or leave it in a car or backstage at some venue you won't cry as much if it gets lost/damaged/stolen. For near beginners (if you've played seriously a few months & know you will stick with the guitar), I highly reccomend letting a professional set up the guitar for you (adjust the neck, action, lube it, etc.)- this is a very good thing to do for any guitar you own.

Very nice HSS guitar
10 September 2022

Good guitar for ALL musicians. As a collector of guitars, the first thing I look at (feel) is the fret work, as this can be the go/no go for ANY priced guitar. The Yamaha PAC012DLX (HSS) comes off as acceptable with Just a slight fret end clip feel with no fret sprout. As compared to the Ibanex GRX20 I got in a couple of days ago that has no fret sprout or clip feel, and did come as a surprise to me. The pickups are not quite as good as the Squire Affinity HSS Strat, but close. The body is MUCH nicer than the Affinity. The paint/finish is amazing. Tuners hold well. Neck is fast. I have never used a whammy bar, so cannot say anything on how well it stays in tune after a few dives. It will be very hard to beat the quality, and price on this PAC012DLX. Yamaha Pacifica 012 great guitar

I bought an older Yamaha Pacifica 012 at a swap meet, the guy had it hanging in his game room for 10 years on the wall. He was not even a guitar player. I paid $100 for it when I saw how worn the neck finish was in the back and how worn the frets were.. Worn frets all the way up the neck and a hand oil stained neck means, someone loved this guitar for years. You cant love a guitar that does not play and sound well. So I bought this very worn guitar. Took it home and took it apart went through it cleaned it, had to replace the input jack with a switch craft for under five dollars, had to clean the pots, because this guitar hung on the wall not in a case. The neck was straight, the intonation was right on, the tuners held it in tune, this guitar has a fast narrow neck. ... MoreI bought an older Yamaha Pacifica 012 at a swap meet, the guy had it hanging in his game room for 10 years on the wall. I ended up putting Wilkinson pick ups at the neck and in the middle but the bridge pick up was fine. Now it is one of my favorite guitars I did some research and found that a team of accomplished musicians and guitar builders got together to design the Yamaha Pacifica guitar for Yamaha. they did a great job. I like these guitars so much, that when another Yamaha Pacifica nearby came up for sale. I bought it also has a spare. Turns out it was played less than an hour. It was a Christmas gift to a child lost interest. Its perfect. I have had many Stratocaster s, telecasters, In my opinion, the Yamaha Pacifica is as good. Yamaha is the largest musical instrument manufacturer in the world. They dont make junk..I now have four Yamaha guitars.
