I bought this then decided to float the tremolo but after a few days pretty much put everything back to how it came out of the box. I did some minor changes to pickup heights to suit me. This guitar really sounds and plays nice. Iβm blown away particularly when considering the price.I highly recommend the Yamaha Pacifica 612 range. The Fire Red really makes it look good.

I started playing at 6, which means I've been playing close to 50 years, and like many guitarists, have owned many of the "iconic" makes/models. Gibsons, Fenders, Ibanez, etc. I can say that this Pacifica, and in equal measure the Revstar 502, are what I've been looking for all that time. The build quality, value for price, choice of components, and amazing engineering make this a home run. First Yamaha's I've ever owned are these two, and together I spent less than one of the "Iconic" brands. No matter what I throw at them, country, rock, metal, blues, they just deliver. Very happy customer. Bought the Pacifica from Sweetwater as they had a gorgeous exclusive color.

Absolutely love the guitar. Color is a lot more subtle in person than in pictures online. Plays smooth right out the box, looks and feels amazing. Neck is quite similar to a strat but gets flatter near the neck. Only reason I didn't give a 5 star review is because when I unboxed it and inspected it there was a scuff on the headstock. It isn't noticeable from a distance but definitely something I'm not happy about. Other than that it plays great, looks great, feels great :)

I agree with all the reviews I read online from guitar magazines. There is no better guitar for two or three times this price. It arrived with zero flaws, needed no setup, and plays beautifully. And with the three switchable pickups (and you can split 'em), you can get any tone you can think of. I use it for recording only, and it cuts right through the mix.I understand now why Guitar Center has these out-of-stock so often! Worth the wait!
I am not overly impressed with the Yamaha PAC612VllFM. I expected more from a 650.00 dollar guitar. Athstetically in was flawless. The setup was terrible (or non existent) After setting the neck relief to about .008 and the Action to about .060 on the low E and resetting the intonation it was considerably better but still not impressive. I have a 129.00 squire bullet that with the upgrade of Fender deluxe locking tuners and a steel tremolo block and Fender custom shop Texas Special pickups Prices out to around 350.00 Pluse what ever you want to add on for my labor and It's a better sounding and better playing guitar than the pacifica. The strat with the texas specials seems way more versitile. The Pacifica to me seems more like a one trick pony and the neck on that 129 dollar Squire seemed far more playable and accurate than the Yamaha. It might just be the luck of the draw but I'm betting that I wouldn't be any happier with a different Pacifica. I've got a Epiphone Joe Pass Emperor ll Pro for 650 bucks that puts them both to shame. That guitar was so perfect right out of box that I will never part with it. The only guitar I have ever seen with perfect intonation!!! Like I said, maybe it's just the luck of the draw. All this said, I don't really think that Sam Ash sold me a lemon but rather, I'm just not that impressed with the yamaha product. (and I am seriously doubting that those Semour Duncan pickups are the real deal. I'm betting that Duncan has somebody else whiping those together for them on the cheap. They simply don't have the clarity or the depth of the Fender custom shop texas specials. All in all, a very nice looking guitar but not one that makes me want to pick it up and play it. UPDATE 9-11-16: I stripped the Yamaha down again and changed the strings. I installed a set of 10 to 50 Ernie Ball Extra Light Nickel Wound with a .020 Wound G. I reset the relief to .006 at the 9th fret and set the action to .060 at Low E and .050 at High E. I am happy to report that it made a huge difference! After reseting the intonation it was not perfect but it was much better and actually very close to spot on! I have updated my rating to 4 stars. I am still not sure that I like it as much as the Stratocaster but it is worlds better than it was and I now consider it a prettly good guitar! (A Keeper!)
This is an incredible value in a guitar. Fit and finish, build quality, selection of hardware and electronics is all second to none.Love the fact that all the hardware is stuff you would buy and have installed, but it's already there! The neck and frets are perfect and feel great to the hand. The color is beautiful as well as the matching headstock. It's very comfortable and hangs right from a strap, is wonderful to play, and the sounds and tones available from the 3 Seymour Duncan pickups is endless. I'm very happy with this guitar and I would rate it as good or better than any of the other brands and types I've owned and still own. No regrets on this purchase at all. Highly recommended.
The guitar comes fully loaded and sounds and feels absolutely amazing. The locking tuners, tusq run, and Wilkinson bridge are all very good and provide amazing tuning stability. The Seymour Duncan pick-ups sound perfect and almost as good as Fender Pickups. The guitar is also pretty comfortable and feels high quality. However, there is one issue that ruins the entire guitar for me. Fret buzz all up and down the neck that just won't go away. It completely ruins the experience of the entire guitar, it's very unfortunate and Originally I thought I could deal with it and lost my return window. The more I play it the more buyers remorse I feel.
This is my second electric guitar. I was choosing between a strat player series and this guitar. I'm very happy with my choice. It feels great in your hands, and the humbucker gives it an awesome sound that the strat cant't match. Yamaha did not dissapoint. I wish I could have tried it in store, but I could not find a store which stocked it.
Locking tuners, Ashmore Duncan pickups, two single coils and a humidifier that you can split. Absolutely kills a start at less money than a player strat. This is the buy of the year although you may have to wait for one because they can't keep them in stock. Well worth the wait and solo much better built than a Fender Strat!!
I play Charvel Friedman and Condor guitars and this is right up there with them. Really great sounding tone. Love a alder body and seymours. So it came already equipped with what i love. Changed the bridge pickup to a jb duncan and now my fav guitar. Gotta buy one. For this price its a no brainer. Check out my band TEN96 and song Moments from the sky for this guitar. Love it...
