I can't say how long the batteries last as I've not got through a set yet but so far so good. The kit comes with a mains socket plug in Wifi connector which I believe links to the door handle via bluetooth, therefore is needs to be reasonably close. Ours is 4m away and it works fine.My only moan would be that Yale only supply one RFID card and one RFID fob which is the simplest way of connecting activating the lock, but you can BUY more if you wish, my kids prefer the fobs. It would have been great if they had set it up so you can activate the unlock using your phones NFC connection. I believe Apple users can use a feature o their phone to do this.I love the access to google assistant as I can approach my drive in the car and ask Google to unlock the door after saying the passcode. This means laden with heavy shopping bag you can walk straight in.Overall I love this product and am happy to recommend, just needs a bit of patience when setting up.

Awful, poor security, rubbish app.

I hate this lock so much and wish I’d never purchased it. It feels like a real step backwards in security and is a constant source of annoyance. To begin with it was sent with a faulty module, so my house was unsecured for 2 weeks, it doesn’t lock on closing the door as any normal pad-lever lock would (you have to manually lock it everytime), and I am replacing the batteries every 2 weeks. The app is glitchy and half the features (such as ‘auto-lock’) simply don’t exist or don’t work at all (auto-unlock, sending a virtual key). We previously had the keypad version which lasted 10yrs before Yale discontinued, and I seriously don’t know how long I can put up with this lock for.

I will have to call Yale support and check what they say. Maybe I should ask for my money back and just install a normal standard lock! The saga continues.....

Disappointed
16 August 2024

Disappointed. Purchased for my kitchen door opening into my garden. Too many tricks needed to learn to install this lock. Calibration of lock is real hell. Every few times, children play with thumb knob, lock gets out of calibration. Door sense installation was another big problem. Every time, I had to open the lock to get the cylinder aligned. Planning to return it.

Fantastic

This is our second L2 and once again it’s fantastic. I love the all black ( we had the black and silver before ). I love even more that our grandson still hasn’t figured out how to work it keeping him safe from being able to open the door and run down the driveway straight onto the street. My kids haven’t lost a fob compared to a normal key where I’m sure half of the town I live in have probably found a key that belonged to our old house lock. Very easy to register a new fob and deactivate if you need to.

Good lock, app needs development.

I love the lock, the ease of opening and the versatility of different ways to open, phone, tag attached to phone or separate tag.I fitted it myself and I’m fairly useless at DIY, however, if you take your time and follow the instructions to the letter it’s not to difficult, although a second pair of hands is very helpful. However the app is not great and some additional features would make it a lot more user friendly. For example, when registering keys, you have to name the key type as the app doesn’t differentiate, I have a card and a teardrop tag. I lost a teardrop tag but had named both my name. Great Product - Poor instructions and support

Great product, frustrating instructions, the L2 is the revised L1 :) the instructions though haven't really been updated, with all the L2 features well my copy hadn't.The actual install was fine, however despite the measurements of the door, I needed to use the longer door bar into the lock mech (this will become clear on install) its not an issue as all parts are there, I just wanted to flag, it comes with parts for many options which I can't fault. The card and tag are not paired with the lock and the instructions do not tell you how to add them, in the end after 20 mins of searching I found you have to in the app select guest and add the tags. The app is frustrating at the time of install it was called yale access, but connexis L1 is still on the Iphone app store and google and that also works with limited features on the door, as of last week I just and email saying they replaced the latest app with a new one, instead of a normal app update you need to install the other app and then sign in this transfers your details (you must it says get everyone who has access to the door do this or they will loose access) Based on the company making the app it seems Yale have outsourced to a thirdparty which is why its another download (I thought it was a phishing mail at first) I want to be clear I haven't done the app yet and any comments are my issues not advice. There also seemed no way to contact Yale for support as the chat was offline at the time (mid week, during the day) they replied back a few hours later to my enquiry on the tags etc. It also took ages for the Yale hub to pair with my WI-FI about 5 attempts, but this could have been WI-FI issues.I want to be clear it seems a great product, we have placed this on a side door to an outhouse (so maybe limited use to fully test, it is easy to fit if you read the install instructions and watch the one or two videos online and know slightly what you are doing with a lock and handle. It is let down in my mind with the instructions to add a card and app usage (but if they keep changing the app it sort of makes sense why they haven't included these) so they need to point you to a link on their site with the latest information.

No more messing about with keys!

Pretty easy to fit although I did need to drill an extra hole for the bottom connecting bolt. Unfortunately I also managed to shear one of the connecting lugs, I guess because I over tightened it, although I don't believe I used excessive force. One of those things, but no big issue as I was only using 2 of the 3 fixing points, so I used the spare lug. The unlock functionality works really well with phone, fobs and card. Using the thumb turn to unlock from the inside works well too. Just lifting the handle automatically locks the door. A nice feature. However, as you have to lift the handle to lock the door, there’s no way to remotely lock the door if you forget before leaving. You can however unlock the door remotely as the handle doesn't have to be lifted to do that. My only concern is that two days after fitting I got a warning email from yale saying the batteries need replacing. Hopefully this is just down to a dodgy battery and not some kind of power drain issue. All in all a great piece of kit which works as designed.

[Rewarded Review] Worst Product Ive Ever Used

I never write reviews, however this is in contention for not only the worst tech product, but the worst product overall ive ever seen. First of all, there is no manual override, meaning if it runs out of battery, you would have to break a window or use another door to get into your house.Furthermore, it is very temperamental; often, I will come back home to find that the door has unlocked itself or will be jammed requiring some finicky movements to get open. Moreover, I find that the only consistent way to get the door to open is through the use of the fob; the keypad and mobile app rarely work.Again, if there was a manual override to open the door with an actual key, it would not be an issue.
