Wow! Sharper than I expected it to be. Removed it from the packaging and was hand washing it when it bit me. Not that it was the knife's fault, we hadn't been introduced. A small injury that only took over a weak to heal. Be careful these are good knives.
Only gave this 4 stars as it just arrived yesterday so I haven’t used it much. I did buy other Wüsthof knives and have been pleased with them, would rate those a 5! After years of mediocre knives I finally decided to splurge and get ‘proper’ kitchen knives. Crate and Barrel offered competitive pricing.
Extremely sharp and really makes food prep faster. I feel like a professional (until I cut my finger :)). The weight and shape is perfect. You need the right tools to do the best job. This utility knife is my favorite!
My husband is super impressed with this knife. He wanted something that would slice his favorite multigrained, seeded loaf and yet be smaller than a breadbox (hee hee). This compact utility knife was the perfect solution. In his words, it cuts like "just whoosh." I'm sure it will work equally well on other food items but, for now, it's totally 'ingrained' to bread slicing duties.
We have loved our Wusthof knives we received as a generous wedding gift for over 17 years. Several weeks ago a chunk of the handle on a smaller utility knife fell off without dropping or damaging it beforehand. Wusthof customer service was easy to reach and very understanding. They had us send in our knives and determined the handles had a problem covered by their lifetime warranty - and replaced them all with new knives!!! So yes, these knives might be more expensive than some, but I see it as an investment as their quality is exceptional and guaranteed for life, and good knives make cooking so much more enjoyable! This serrated utility knife replaced our old straight edged one. It is even more useful—still has a slight point at tip for piercing when needed and ... This is an excellent, everyday, everything knife. I use it for cutting veggies, slicing smaller loaves of bread and even trimming chicken or steak before cooking. This is the second one I’ve purchased; the first is about 20 years old. The serrated edge is more difficult to sharpen, so I finally decided to replace the first, but I use it daily; it is my go-to.
This little kitchen workhorse is well worth the price tag. It cuts everything from tomatoes to crusty bread well and without great force. A great addition to our Wusthof Classic collection!
