Bought as a Christmas gift for myself. Finally got time to attach it on my kayak, after drilling four holes on my beloved kayak and found that the item 10 which is the most important part to attach the motor on the frame, is way too short to reach the nut. Have to buy a longer bolt to replace it, otherwise it’s just a bunch of crap. As they said on the user’s manual, they have changed the design for the frame, but they forgot to renew the parts!

As soon as I was in the water and gave it try, it twisted on the mounts and propeller me on an angle. I stopped and corrected the angles, and tightened the clamps as much as I could without tools (they’re handles not screws, so meant to be hand tight) but it twisted again second try. I spent the remainder of the trip up river fighting against the bracket twisting constantly. About halfway into a 4 hour fish, the nut on the handle stripped the plastic away due to the adjustments I was having to make, and is now useless. The motor is great for the price, but the kayak bracket can't handle the motor's thrust when you turn it on. It is difficult to tighten the bracket nuts. The tiller snapped off on the 2nd day of use; the built in tiller saved the day, but it is too short. The tiller and bracket parts are not very good quality. I will have to make my own tiller. Replacing it under warranty is fine but if the replacement tiller is of the same quality, it won't last! I should have purchased a transom mount version and paid the extra to for a mount.

The motor is great, I would recommend but the kayak mount is the most useless piece of equipment I've ever bought. The screws that are supposed to hold the motor steady simply don't. Would suggest maybe a G clamp for side mounting on a kayak. If you want to rear mount you will need to create an adaptor plate as the holes on the mount don't line up with the holes on the transom mount of any kayak I could find. The steering arm came with a crack in it and broke before any use. As stated the motor is brilliant but the kayak mount that comes with it is utterly worthless
Im sure its a great product.But i purchased this as the bracket in Anaconda pictured version is the original bracket which just fits high enough in the seak kayak to actually be able to fit the rest of the mechanism onto.But Anaconda send out a new version when buying online with a shorter bracket so now i need to buy another bracket set for $80 to actually get what i intended to purchase. Way over budget so still havent got to use it yet cause i need to buy another bracket.If you dont care about the size of the bracket, probably great.Thanks for asking me to comment Anaconda.
Awsome watersnake kayak electric motor glides me through the water with ease. I can do all the exploring without having tired arms.Product is of very high quality, reliable and very portable. It was so easy to fit to my kayak with the supplied mounting bracket and so simple to use. I had one before this one. It did not hold up long. I could not return it as it was a second purchase even though it was brand new. The handle broke day one. The motor casing seal leaked and its ruined motor.I am hoping this one fares better. It is the only motor to fit a kayak. Price is fair.
I brought this combo for the bracket system and am extremely disappointed, The bracket simply does not function, I mounted as per instructions on to a FINN Castaway it weighs 15kg the water snake motor which is excellent seems to have too much thrust for this single anchor point system. there are 3 issues with the current set up1. The Watersnake 24 is extremely light and quiet. We used it to assist with a heavily loaded 14 foot pirogue. It ran for 5 and one half hours half at low rate and half high on 20% of the capacity of an 100 AH battery. 28 kilometres approximately in all.Pretty good so far.The stainless bolt heads in the fitting for holding the motor on are too small for the captive spaces in the plastic frame so some of the bolts turn when tightening.
Motor seems good but couldn't use it as this new Revolutionary new bracket design is just the worst. Do the brackets as tight as you can but as soon as you turn it on it kicks and spins and doesn't hold. Couldn't use them on my recent camping trip. And bought 2 of them.Got in touch with Watersnake themselves, and they sent us the Transom brackets.Don't get with this revolutionary new bracket design.
