The Victorinox RescueTool was developed and perfected in cooperation with emergency medical and rescue services in a five-year project. The key functions of this new pocket tool can be opened in seconds and are ready for use immediately. All parts have been subject to stringent tests; particularly the new window breaker and disc saw tools. The rounded belt cutter can be used to cut through seatbelts safely. The tool includes the most important functions for freeing someone trapped in a car. All tools that have to be available quickly can be opened wearing gloves and are suitable for both right-handed and left-handed users. I like to keep the car prepped, so I bought this one to complement my roadside emergency kit. It's a cool knife for sure, and I think it would be great to have in the event of a major accident. Yet as a multi-tool to keep in your car for everyday needs, I'm not sure it's the right choice. It lacks some basics, like scissors. When I gifted my brother a knife for his car, I decided the Hercules was the better model because the scissors and pliers seemed more useful for normal everyday needs.

I'm not a first responder - just an ordinary business person and member of the public. I ordered two of these tools - one for my wife and one for myself - as:1. Personal vehicle emergency escape tools.2. The means to help others escape a vehicle if we see the need.We are both impressed with the quality of the utility tool and with the range of tools and features available. The fluoro is a nice touch. The belt pouches are excellent also.

Great knive with all relevant functions incl. Window breaker and window saw. Stays in my car in case of an emergency!
Got this knife for my birthday slightly over a year ago.I can't say much about all the tools (luckily), but the knife is extremely sharp and cuts with ease.The screwdriver is in a good position.Holster is good with a big loop for all belt sizes. I've also seen people adding zip ties to have a tighter fit, or to hold it horizontally.It's a classic in the first responder domain; you won't see ten of them without at least one wearing this tool (in Switzerland, at least).It has the tools for saving people, but also the basics you can need on a daily base.

I have owned this knife for almost 10 years and it has come with me on hundreds of adventures locally and around the world. I use it as a paramedic working in the city, in the wilderness and at a race track. I also use it for skiing, climbing, biking, boating, and all my other adventures.As an everyday knife, the blade is very durable and and the unique serration/straight blade design is highly effective for all uses. I have cleaned fish, carved wood, cut rope, and even used it to split logs once in a pinch. The one handed opening is fantastic as it allows for opening with either hand ,and with thick gloves on. The glass saw can also be used for other materials (like wood) if you are careful with it. The reamer is a bit hard to get out, but works very well for drilling holes in things.As a rescue knife, I have not yet needed it to save myself, but I have broken many windows and cut many seat belts with its as a paramedic. The glass saw has also worked very well when I've tested it during training. The seat belt cutter really is the star of this knife, as it works for so much; cutting seat belts, removing clothing, opening boxes, cutting lines- and all without risking cutting what is underneath. The glass punch does take a fair bit of force- it is not spring loaded like many other devices- but I have yet to encounter a vehicle window it could not break.The glow in the dark exterior works just as well today as it did when I bought it, though when it spends all day in its case it doesn't really get charged that much. Speaking of the case, it looks fairly worn out, but is still going strong and I don't expect to have to replace for at least a few more years.The only real con is that the serrations are quite small and difficult to sharpen. This makes it great for cutting, but I have yet to find a good file that fits the serrations. Going to a professional is a good work-around, especially since I have found it does not need to be sharpened very often at all.The key to this knife is that it performs as both a rescue knife and an everyday knife- so when you need it most it will be right there at your side and you will be very comfortable using it.
Well designed and built bag. I purchased it for my wife as she's always running around with scripts and a laptop placing a high demand on her bag - this one will certainly stand up to these demands, plus lots of the compartments are lined with a very soft fabric, protecting the exterior of you laptop, phone etc. Zips are high quality and shoulder strap and handles have good stiching. All in all a very good bag, with a good simple lasting design.
Excellent delivery rescue tool looks very good but as it's a Xmas present for a young man training to be an advanced paramedic there's no feedback from prospective user. I think he will be thrilled with it.
A friend of mine survived an accident in her car, not in the last place because she had the gear to get him out of it quickly enough...Realising I didn't really have anything in my car to help me I went on a search...which ended when I got my hands on this one. A very sturdy, very purposeful instrument that perfectly does what it was made to do.Another big plus is the exchangeable parts, when in doubt, take them out and you'll end up with an as good as new kit.Apart from that, it turned out to be a very handy tool to have in reach...even just for that apple or thoroughly packed package that won't open:-)
