I just finished building this and I truly enjoyed the experience. The pieces are very well thought out and punched out of the boards with no problem. None of them broke or chipped, which is a very rare occurrence. I didn't have to sand down any of them either. It posed a little bit of a challenge, especially when creating the ring around the horse poles, but it was never frustrating. The directions are very clear and easy to follow. Funny thing, I was constantly testing out the mechanics as I built it and right before the last step, I was noticing that the movement was stuttered and just not working properly. Though a challenging project, was quite rewarding and enjoyable.This was purchased as a gift for our 4 year old granddaughter. When it was done, and was given to her, the smile on her face as it was going around was all the gratification that was needed. My wife did paint the horses and added some costume beads for enhancement for her. (Unfortunately, and I don't know why. I am unable to upload a photo to add).I found it helpful to sand the sides of those items (gears, etc.) that were to be waxed as it made for a smoother operation. Additionally, it was beneficial to check moving functions at every step that new parts were added. That way no surprises at the end and I could troubleshoot as I went along.
This one have many little decorative parts which are delicate but pieces in this box was easy to deattach and very sturdy at the same time. I wished to hold on to this one for little longer but I was having too much fun and ended up completing it. Mechanism in this piece works really well! Very pretty in person!!!!
This was my second ugears project. This one took me about 6 hours. Only 2 hiccups. I didn't realize I needed to use 2 rubber bands for the crank and I broke a piece when adding the ball to the top. Because I couldn't see the piece I was not sure how much pressure I was applying. I will order the broken part per ugears replacement part guarantee. It still functions perfectly even with the broken horse. Can't wait to do many more!
This is one of my favorite projects ever! I build this in less than a day with no issues. I love playing with it and watching the horses go round and round. Definitely worth the buy, no matter what the age!
Putting the models together is fun and the designs are excellent This model, as all others I bought, have movement restrictions and the elastics eventually break.
