Excellent sound quality and design. I'm giving it 1 star because the cord is ridiculously short. I'm appalled at all you guys who left 5 star reviews. This cord is like 3 feet long. My computer is not that far away, and the cord hangs in front of my face the entire time. Turtle Beach, can you guys send me an extension cord, then I'll bump up my review to 5 stars, because everything else about this headset is perfect. What were you thinking my dudes. I say this with respect, but this cord is extremely short. I'm so shocked. I've never seen this before with any headset. This is insanity.

I've had this headset for about 5 years now and it's just now starting to fail me. Used for thousands upon thousands of hours in many different games, including games where sound quality is important. I took great care of this headset, for the most part (it was thrown only a few times but nothing ever broke). What's finally starting to give is only the wire connection at the controller side. It seems to have dried up and split, but it still works (for now). There is no mic echo, the mute function works fine, and the volume control works fine. I definitely got my money's worth out of this headset, and I'm thinking about getting the same one again once this one finally gives out completely. I'd recommend this to anyone that casually games or to someone looking for a ... MoreI've had this headset for about 5 years now and it's just now starting to fail me. The Recons usually retail in stores anywhere from $40-60, with the basic console colors, or white/white camo. I was surprised to find these on the Turtle Beach website, and discover that they offered a military discount. I saved more money buying from the company directly, with the color I wanted and received free shipping. They’re a great buy, and do the job, with crisp clear sound and audio. You can’t go wrong for the price and quality. It’s a great starter headset, with a simple 3.5mm headphone jack so they will work with any controller. They are comfortable and easy to use with a dial to control volume and flip the mic up to mute. The Green Recons look great (just like the picture), and are so light weight you forget that you are wearing them.

The Turtle Beach Recon 70 is a stylish set of gaming headphones. They’re made completely out of plastic, and the build quality is fairly solid (for plastic). My set is primarily black with red accents along the upper pad, extendable frame, and cable. It coordinates very well with my black and red gaming laptop. The cable is firmly attached to the headphones and can’t be removed as these headphones don’t have any wireless capabilities, and it can’t be replaced should it get damaged. The cable is also fairly short, so don’t expect to use these while gaming on the TV (unless you’re sitting two feet away from your television). This is unfortunate as a removable aux cable that could be swapped out for a longer cable when working with the Switch in docked mode would have ... The cable is also fairly short, so don’t expect to use these while gaming on the TV (unless you’re sitting two feet away from your television). This is unfortunate as a removable aux cable that could be swapped out for a longer cable when working with the Switch in docked mode would have been appreciated. That being said, there are cable extenders on the market that can fill this gap as well. The headphones are fairly comfortable to wear, but it did take several days for me to break them in. When I first got them, they pinched my head uncomfortably; and I was all set to toss in the towel and declare that I hated them. They seemed to loosen up with repeated use though, and they now fit my head quite comfortably for extended gaming sessions. The headphones plug in via a standard aux cable connection. This means that they can function as headphones for any device with a standard headphone port (i.e. laptops, desktops, [some] phones, handheld consoles . . . etc.). In order to use the integrated microphone, you have to have either a microphone / headphone combo port (standard on the Nintendo Switch but inconsistently available on other devices – alas, my gaming laptop doesn’t have a combo port; but my desktop does for some reason) or a special splitter cable to connect to both the microphone and headphone port to a single input. Sound quality is good. It’s not the best I’ve ever head, and hardcore audiophiles will probably want something better, but it’s perfectly adequate for gaming or casual media consumption. The headphones do a good job of blocking out ambient noise by simple dint of completely covering your ears with large amounts of padding. With the headphones on, but no sound playing, I was able to make out only a dull murmur from the people sitting next to me at the coffee shop. One feature that I really liked about these headphones is the physical volume dial on the left ear cup. The dial feels good for making fine adjustments to the volume. It’s much preferable to touchscreen volume controls or a volume rocker. In summary, The Recon 70 headphones are solid headphones with a good “gamer aesthetic” and some bonus perks in the form of an integrated microphone and physical volume dial. I would recommend these to a friend.
I wasn't sure if my pc was a green pink one that needs the splitter but if you have a mic & headset pic on your pc you need a splitter else you can only get the headphones to work. After got the splitter it worked well both the mic & the headphones. I'm just to use these from time to time so can only comment on the setup & first use. Blocks out some noise. Easy to wear altho I started to get a sore left ear not sure if that is because I wear glasses as a reviewer said that may cause it & happen. But I won't be wearing them full on so for me i'll put up with that & thats why I didn't do 5 star. I got them on a really good special so quite happy with the purchase as I did watch reviewers & read reviews before buying so did know to some extent what they would be. For ... These seem to be a quality product, however it doesn't work for some reason. It could be a setting on my tv, however, I have followed all of the instructions that came with the headset, still with no luck. I hate to return it so I just use it as another set of headphones however it's disappointing because I wanted to use the chat feature. The sound just will not go through the headphones even if my tv is no longer sending sound out through the speakers. I just gave up until perhaps we can call a geek squad technician to come diagnose the problem. Annoying since these should be so simple, just plug and play. Even without using the online chat, it would be so nice to have a surround sound effect through the headphones since we didn't invest in a speaker set, thinking ... The Turtle Beach Recon 70 is an entry level gaming headset and has versions for xbox, PS4, Switch/PC platforms. This review will focus on the Switch/PC version. First, the Recon 70 comes in a variety of colors wherein the Switch version has a black and red version and a midnight red version which maroon like. (The xbox version has green and presumably the PS4 version has the blue color. Overall, the headset is made of plastic which is expected for this model. Yet build quality is very decent and unlike the rickety plastic feeling of other headsets in class. Yet build quality is very decent and unlike the rickety plastic feeling of other headsets in class. The faux leather cushions are nicely made and the headset is quite comfortable to wear even for extended periods of time. The headset jack is the single jack type which is commonly found in phones which makes it compatible for laptops and of course the Nintendo Switch. The downside here this the length of the cable is only roughly one meter long. And now for the audio quality. It seems it’s kind of a mixed bag for me. When I tested the headset on the Switch running Fortnite, spatial sound was decent but somehow there was some noticeable distortion in the audio output. At first I thought it was the headset not really being good. But since it had the single jack, I decided to try it on an Eluktronics gaming laptop and clarity was greater and there was no distortion whatsoever when I tried Fortnite. But of course that’s a laptop setup for gaming. I then tried the headset on a 10.1” Insignia tablet and audio from Youtube was pretty much ok. Tweaking audio settings on both computers also helped. And still no distortion. So I suspect it may be the Switch is causing the distortion. And I am not aware of any equalizer setting for the Switch. The foldable mic is cool which is similar to other models and is better than the ones found in other models. It also has a volume control too. Overall, this is a good headset for a gamer who wants a no frills headset. And lastly, in the looks department it looks any other stereo over-the-ear headset which is fine by me since I prefer that compared futuristic designed headsets for dedicated gamers. That said this gaming headset is still a recommended buy. Not the best but definitely still far worse.
Very cool, great headset for the money. Replacing my STILL working X31's and finally entering the 21st century! LOL! A little tight on the ears, but comfortable even with my glasses on. Color is great, and the material is solid yet flexible. Use them with Windows Sonic on XBOX One and they work great. Immersive sound and distinguishable direction of other players and gunfire. Very good buy, for the money unbeatable and would recommend for anyone...
As a gamer for about 40 years I've had my fair share of headsets for various gaming systems. And as a new Switch owner I wanted something simple, easy to use, high quality and that has multiple ways to use it. Sort of like the actual Nintendo Switch itself now that I think about it. Enter the new Turtle Beach RECON 70 wired stereo headset. At a very affordable price I was sort of skeptical but since I had already had several Turtle Beach headsets in the past so I knew that Turtle Beach had quite a few pretty quality headdsets for folks on a budget. When the RECON 70's arrived I immediately opened them up and tried them on. They are very comfortable, a nice snug fit but not too smug and light enough that you won't have issue with wearing them for long gaming ... MoreAs a gamer for about 40 years I've had my fair share of headsets for various gaming systems. They are very comfortable, a nice snug fit but not too smug and light enough that you won't have issue with wearing them for long gaming sessions. The 3.5" simple jack makes them compatible with any PC, Xbox One or PS4 in addition to the Nintendo Switch, which is great. In fact, the first time using these I grabbed them to use on the Xbox One as I was in a Division 2 session with party chat and didn't want to go get my official Xbox One headphones. These worked great, just plugged them into the controller and they came on. The volume defaults to max and it was pretty loud, so loud in fact that I turned it to about 80%. The audio is clear, the bass is there but not booming and overall it's a good, but not out-of-this-world sound. I asked three different teammates after our 2 hour gaming session how they could hear me and they all said crystal clear. The headset mutes when you push up the radio mic so that is nice so that you can mute yourself when the dogs are barking or such. One thing to note, you cannot hear yourself through your mic when you talk so that may bother some folks (or other folks may find that a plus as I've heard some do not like that). That is one thing that I did not really care for as I prefer to hear when I speak through the headset like my Astro A50's do. And yes I did check the option in the Xbox One to ensure it was setup right but this headset must not support that feature. Using these on the Nintendo Switch yielded the same results in regards to listening but I did not use them to communicate in any games because I don't really play the Switch online using voice chat. These are also portable and do not require anything but the headset (no dongles or extras) so that'll make taking them on the road with your Switch a nice option. All in all I'd recommend these as they are quality and the fact that they can be used on multiple systems is a huge plus. They aren't going to blow you away with how fantastic they sound but they sound good enough that you won't notice any issues or feel like your sound is subpar. The mic is crystal clear and the fact that they are wired means no charging which is nice considering that the vast majority of everything needs constant charging nowadays. For the price that these retail at, and considering you can likely find them cheaper online, they yield an incredible value for not just Nintendo Switch owners but anyone just looking for a quality, economical headset for their PC, Xbox One, PS4 or Nintendo Switch. I WOULD RECOMMEND
I recently purchased the Turtle Beach Recon 70 Wired Stereo Gaming Headset and I am extremely happy with my purchase. The headset is comfortable to wear and produces clear, crisp sound. The mic is also of good quality and my friends have no trouble hearing me when we communicate during gameplay. The headset is also lightweight and the ear cups are adjustable, making it easy to find a comfortable fit. The price of the headset is also very reasonable. I highly recommend the Turtle Beach Recon 70 to any gamer in need of a high-quality headset at an affordable price. It's a great value for the price!
