Ace has the knowledge to go with the product

The great thing about buying at my local Ace is knowing the knowledge for the products I need is available beyond the information on the product bag. A fellow named Tom is my man for cooking at the grill or griddle. This product was his recommendation and my guests loved the smoke flavor it produced. To goes beyond the product itself to bring other needs to one's attention that may add to the experience. This personal relationship can't be found in the big box stores and I'm so grateful to live where Ace is the place.

Auger Fire and Almost Hopper Too

First time to use Traeger apple pellets. Usually use hickory. Cleaned Traeger thoroughly pre-smoke which I always do. Fire pot was completely empty of ash and clean. After a few hours I noticed a little bit of smoke coming out of the hopper, but it was sporadic. After a couple of more hours, the Traeger was eating a lot of pellets and was having a hard time with big temp swings. Then the hopper started billowing smoke. I took the pork butt off and took everything apart down to the fire pot. It was full of what looked like ground up pellets and the fire was clearly being maintained back inside the auger several inches. No fire was in the firebox. I've never owned a pellet grill until I bought the low-end Traeger. The pellets burned cleanly and, at the right temperature, produced sufficient, but not overwhelming, smoke. Not sure I could really taste much difference in the apple versus the cherry that I also bought. I'm going to try some hickory, which should give a stronger smoke flavor. I guess the price is ok on these. I haven't compared prices between Traeger branded pellets and others.

Great Option In My Traeger
24 August 2023

High quality pellets for your smoker. Most of the pellets are in one piece and are not broken into small pieces or smashed to dust like some pellet brands often are. Burn good and added a nice flavor to the meat. I use these in a Traeger Ranger pellet grill.

Great for ribs and beef

Have to admit I'm new to pellet grills (have a Weber Summit 620 with a smoker section), but my wife insisted I get a smoker she can use so we got the Traeger Jr Elite. I bought Traeger hickory and apple pellets as well and have had the system for just 1 week and love it.The Traegar pellets give a good taste and provide good smoke. Just be sure you get a smoker with a digital temperature thermostat and not the cheaper Low-Med-High ones. They are a few $ more, but being able to set the exact temp you want is essential. As to my Weber, I am not giving it up, but for smoking meats, will first look to the Traager

Lack of smoke profile with Salmon
20 March 2023

Be careful not to use this with seafood I did the smoked salmon recipe from the app which suggested cherry so I said apple also a fruit wood I will try that. Big mistake no smoke flavour. Also the cherry pellets which are recommended in the recipe should not be used with salmon either. Use alder for a better smoke profile.

Pricey but great taste
16 August 2022

Pellets tasted great. The brisket I did went so quickly I barely got the chance to take a photo haha. A little pricey but definitely looked nice. Low and slow with a 2kg brisket. Would recommend, but maybe wait for them to have deals on.

Will Never buy apple pellets again.
19 September 2021

First time using Apple pellets. I have used oak and hickory multiple times and never had any issue. I clean my Traeger after every use. I started to see smoke coming out of my hopper so I shut off the Traeger waited for it to cool down and checked the fire pot. The fire pot was full with a baseball sized hunk of burnt pellets melted together the clump was hard as a rock. I cleaned the grill emptied the hopper and used another bag of Traeger apple pellets and the same thing happened. What a mess.

lots of ash
30 May 2021

First time using Apple so went through the usual procedure. Cleaned grill with vac, put pellets in colander and shook out any loose dust. Smoked ribs using the 3-2-1 method. all went well until the end of the 2. Foil was covered with ash so did not finish on the Traeger. After the grill cooled I started to clean out, there was at least a quarter inch of ash in bottom of the grill and the fire box was almost full. I tried a second time with the same results. Will never buy Traeger apple pellets again.
