The Psychology of Money Timeless Lessons On Wealth Greed and Happiness

(1,670 reviews)

Doing well with money isn't necessarily about what you know. It's about how you behave. And behaviour is hard to teach, even to really smart people. Money - investing, personal finance, and business decisions - is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don't make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money and teaches you how to make better sense of one of life's most important topics.

I absolutely enjoyed this book and took so much away from it. It's a great read if you want to understand the idea of money historically and now. Understand why you are the way you are with money. As a mother of 3 and a financial advisor, I found this a very interesting read . Well worth it!

Engaging and an easy read!
22 July 2021

Morgan Housel strips the complex topic of money down into it's bare essences and presents key principles in a way that is extremely easy and engaging to read. This book is relevant to anyone interested in money, from an economist to someone who is just looking to get their finances under control. 10/10!

Great money prospective
21 June 2023

This book really opened my eyes to the psychology of money. Does this book provide ways on how to save or investing strategies? No. But this book does provide a great prospective of just saving in general and how wealth is what you don’t see. This is a book I will definitely pick up to reference from time to time.

Just ok

Well, here is a book largely about financial anecdotes and truisms. Easy reading style, and a few interesting points, but hard to recommend as the depth of research vs opinion is missing. Very USA centric too, so misses a global perspective.Buy the Ulysses Contract by Mike Kemp instead.

One of the best books about personal finance and investments
8 July 2022

...I have ever read. And I read a few. Well put, easily digestible and not in a form factor of a doorstopper brick. One thing, that surprised me, was that I was able to give this book to a young man of about 17 knowing he would get it. That it is not too difficult and complicated for teens, but also complex enough for adults with financing experience.

Probably the best finance book I ever read

Superb book, the best I ever read about finance. It just shows that your own behaviour has a massive influence on your financial well-being, no matter how much you earn.
