The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution 30ml/1oz

I bought this a month ago and, because I have slightly sensitive skin, I made sure to do various spot tests and everything seemed on the up and up until I started putting it on my face. Whenever I bring this near my face the area around my eyes gradually goes red over the span of a few hours and at the end I am so red and swollen that it looks like I was stung by a bee on both eyes, and yes I don’t apply it around my eyes as per the instructions. Even if I wash it off right away, the damage is done. I suggest very carefully testing and phasing in strong products like these beforehand to prevent something like this happening to you. When I did my initial google research nothing was mentioned to say this was a possibility so please be careful. It could be that I am allergic to something in this, it could be the product itself, I am on my way to the doctor as I am writing this because my eyes are swollen practically shut. It is probably not the fault of The Ordinary but my relationship with it, but please be careful and ensure you don’t accidentally have the same problem.

I also bought the Salicylic Acid from the Ordinary alongside the Niacinamide and the Hyaluronic Acid to try. You have to read the instructions carefully, make sure you apply it at the relevant time of day and maybe don't use it everyday as it is quite harsh on the skin. Salicylic Acid does have the tendency to cause adverse reactions if over used or not used properly so take great care in reading the instructions and please do a patch test beforehand. Also please be warned if using Salicylic Acid it can heighten the chances of sunburn! My skin absolutely loves this Salicylic acid from the Ordinary and I have finally found an exfoliant that does not cause my skin harm. It is oil based so it is very comfortable to wear on the skin and very lightweight and it does not really have a smell to it unless you are using lots. I use it all over my body as I have received a fair few scars over the years. I am yet to see if they reduced the appearance of them dramatically, but I can see this product is well on it's way to making that happen. It does take a few months of regular use for the product to take full effect.

Ive been getting lots of bumpy texture and closed comedones on my face, also experiencing some singular pimples here and there, these happened probably due to me adding into my routine a moisturizer that was too heavy for my skin. I also experienced some under-skin ones, i don't know what theyre called, but just they don't have anything "poppable" they just hurt and are swollen. And to this day i kept telling myself its the purging phase and i have to just suck it up and keep going. But my skin has gotten so bad ive become insecure about it like ive never been before. I don't think that what i experienced is what the purging phase should look like. Today i decided to stop using this product because it just breaks me out. So sadly i cant recommend this product :(( i added a star because it did a great job at keeping my dry skin moisturized
