Never get caught out in the rain again, you only need a bit of extra space in your pack to stash this ultralight, weatherproof rain jacket for protection when storms are on the horizon. A relaxed fit and an adjustable hood leave room for extra layers.

An older style but love it!

This jacket is pretty light but the material is still thick enough to give it a substantial look. Good length covering the hip. I like this style which vertically is in one piece. Unlike many new TNF styles which are cut into an upper part and a lower part, creating a horizontal line across the jacket which makes you look fat and bulky. I like how this jacket looks - clean, snug, and slim.

WOW poor quality for the price! So first off, the armpit vents. I love armpit vents and this is one of the top reasons I picked this jacket as soon as I saw it in the description. I can't ever find jackets nowadays with armpit vents and I love them.. But these particular armpit vents just open up right into the jacket, leaving your armpits fully open to the elements. Weird. Why would you design it this way? Usually, armpit vents open into the jacket but with a mesh layer sewn in between your skin and the open zipper - for good ventilation, and so you don't end up with fully exposed armpits which rain, snow, and bugs can get into easily. Also, this jacket is shockingly thin and the material feels cheap...at least, not worth $100 by any means. No liner whatsoever, so ... MoreWOW poor quality for the price! So first off, the armpit vents. And because the fabric feels kind of flimsy and like a tree branch could snag it and rip it - if it rips, since there is no liner, there goes the jacket wasted since you'd be totally exposed. Pros: The shape of the hood is nice, and I LOVE the Acid Yellow color! North Face, PLEASE MAKE MORE ACID YELLOW JACKETS!!! The color is the whole reason I bought this honestly, I have been looking everywhere for a nice bright yellow rain jacket/windbreaker and this one looked perfect online...no so perfect in person. If North Face sold any other Acid Yellow (NOT pastel yellow) jackets, I would definitely buy one but this seems to be the only womens jacket in that color. I really hate all of the pastels that are almost exclusively available for womens outerwear and workout clothes. Sadly, I'm returning this. I really hate that the quality is so meh, because I LOVE this color.

Live in Hawaii and needed a durable, lightweight raincoat for work. Can work outside in the rain for hours in this and stay dry. Typically wear a tank top underneath (avg temp here is 80F) so if you work up a sweat it'll stick to you a bit. The pit zippers help it breath a little better, but a lot of heat gets trapped inside. Good if that's what you're looking for. 10/10 on the rain aspect though. Helps block the offshore winds really well. I have pretty thin wrists so sometimes if I lift my hands up water will run down inside the sleeves, but that's more a personal issue than an issue with the jacket. Sometimes the hood strings don't stay pulled tight and you have to adjust them a lot, probably the only drawback. Packs up tight and stores in one of the pocket, doesn't take up a lot of space, which is pretty sick. I also have pretty long arms and a thin frame so usually have to buy a size up and everything looks baggy and too big - not this guy. The medium has sleeves plenty long and it's comfortable and form fitting with a hoody underneath or without.Had to wait a little longer on shipping but that's what you get for living on island and having a virus hit the world.

Expected more from The North Face!
25 March 2023

I tried it on and immediately started the return process. First, it runs small. I ordered one size up. Second, I hated the white lining; it is visible at the top opening and looks absolutely ugly. Third, the material reminds that of a garbage bag and makes noise when you move. I also felt it was overpriced.

Good quality, good features (just one exception)

I just got my jacket today and am very pleased with it. I am 5' 2" and 122 lbs. and I got a size Medium jacket, which was just right. I was surprised that another reviewer wrote, "I would add that the medium is a little large for me (I'm 5'4", about 130 lbs)" because I'm smaller than that person but this jacket is not too large for me. I haven't yet tested how water-repellent it is, but there seems to be plenty of testimony that it really is waterproof. My only complaint is that despite the application of plenty of elbow grease, I could NOT stuff the jacket all the way into its left pocket, which you are supposed to be able to do. I wrestled with it for quite a while and finally got almost all of it into the pocket, but not enough to get it all in and close the ... MoreI just got my jacket today and am very pleased with it. I wrestled with it for quite a while and finally got almost all of it into the pocket, but not enough to get it all in and close the zipper. So I'm giving up on that and will just roll the jacket up and carry it in a separate bag. Too bad, because being able to stuff the jacket into its own pocket is a valuable feature for me. Several people asked questions about how light the jacket is. It's not heavy, but it's also not as light as the previous rain jacket I had, so I would describe it as medium-weight. Also, another reviewer incorrectly said: "The new adjusters to tighten the hood do NOT work at all. There is no 'stopper' on them so there is nothing preventing them from immediately sliding out and loosening." That person is wrong, because you CAN stop the cord in one place after adjusting it--look closely at the little plastic stopper thingy and you'll see that you can slide the cord to one side or the other in the slot, and on one side it loosens the cord, and on the other side it hold the cord in place. And finally, two last points: I agree with what others wrote about the usefulness of: a) the way you can adjust the hood to fit you just right, by using the little cord stopper there, and b) the two interior pockets.

I would buy this coat again! Comfort & Compliments all the
29 December 2021

I love this coat! After much searching to find a replacement for my worn out very much used rain jacket, I found this jacket and fell in LOVE! The coat fits well (true to size) with room for a mid weight top and vest underneath. It covers my assets, and keeps me dry! The hood provides coverage to keep my "do" dry. It's definitely waterproof, but in freezing temps I wouldn't count on being toasty warm without layers underneath. I ordered a size XL. I'm 5'6" and athletic build. 38D cup size 12 pant.

Keeps You Dry! Beautiful Color and Style.

I am very pleased with the purchase of the North Face Venture 2 Rain Jacket. This was to replace my Sierra Designs for everyday wear in the Central FL summer showers. I was able to break it in on a recent trip to Upstate NY. On a three mile walk with a steady light shower, the jacket kept me warm (temps were in the 60s) and dry. I also wore it as an outer layer on a boat cruise, and it fit nicely over a few layers of clothing, including a sweatshirt. The hood stays on nicely, something my previous rain jacket did not allow unless I was wearing a ball cap.I am 5' 2" and about average weight, and I purchased a size Small in Cayenne Red- beautiful color! Nice light rain jacket
19 July 2023

I was looking for a summer rain coat and this fits the bill. There are underarm vents however on the smaller side so not sure how effective they will be. The material is thin so it doesn't add a lot of bulk and will work as a windbreaker as well. Material is a little loud and I would have preferred a mesh lining. All in all, will be keeping as it is great value.

Perfect lightweight rain/wind jacket…
8 November 2022

I purchased this to bring with me to Hawaii during the beginning of their rainy season..best last minute investment I’ve made for travel. It’s lightweight and has put zips in case you get a little muggy while dodging monsoons in the tropics. It can even be stuffed into its own stow pocket that has a small loop to clip it onto a backpack, bum pack or purse. I ordered up a size in case I needed to layer underneath, and suggest doing this since it does run slim. Hiking in Hawaii and encountered pop up down pours often and this shell kept me completely dry. Has a hood which can be sinched if needed. Def a lifelong travel buddy for me!

Venture 2 Jacket – North Face
23 July 2023

I like to size up for shells to have room for sweater or fleece. I would usually take large but went for XL and I like the length (doesn’t ride up) and the sleeve length is great (I have long arms). Went out in steady hard rain in Ireland and it was perfectly waterproof. I like the Velcro on the wrists for tightening as well. The only thing I would wish for would be a slightly longer peak on the hood. Otherwise, it works perfectly for me.
