Fitted, matte black

I tried this on in the store today. I am looking for a new mid-length down coat for 35-55 degree temps in the PNW to wear from Oct to December for 45 minute walks outside, playing outside with my kids, and running errands. I liked the length and weight of this jacket, that it zips up to the chin, and had good hood coverage even with a pony tail. The sizing is a very fitted style. The 1st pic is the small and you can see how fitted it is around my hips. I have small shoulders but though the shoulders were too small (the seam was inset 1" from the edge of my shoulder). The medium was too big, especially the top half and the sleeves were too long. I typically wear a size 4 top, and 4-6 bottoms (35" with bra x 28" X 38.5"). The fabric is a matte finish, making the black look charcoal (the pants I'm wearing are gray camo for comparison), which I didn't like because it looks old and faded next to dark black. I also would have preferred a water repellant coating at this price point. This was not the winner, the search continues.

Glad I ordered this!

I love this coat! It is plenty large, and plenty warm even for a Michigan winter! Other reviewers said this ran small and wasn't warm enough. But I've been through the first snowstorm with it and have worn it unzipped plenty of times because it is SO warm. More so than the other brand I had with the little dots of reflective foil inside and I thought that was toasty. I will have this for years to come. Cost a bit more but worth it. One very small feather escaped so far, and that's it after tons of wear and touch-up washing after I spilled on it. It's a nice flat black, not shiny. If I could alter one thing I would very slightly shorten the sleeve and add the cuff with the thumb hole because that's what I'm used to. But not a deal breaker by any means. Great replacement to my old North Face parka

I bought this to replace a North Face parka that I lost that I had for about 10 years. Love that this is thin but warm and not bulky so it doesn't make me look big. I like that it is stream lined and matte finish. It is more dark gray thank black but I am fine with that. I agree that the sleeves are a little long but no big deal. I rather them longer to keep my hands warm than too short. Also, you can fold them in. Otherwise the small fit perfect. I am 5'3" and 135bs for your reference.

I love this thing
29 January 2023

I don't write reviews but this parka really deserves one! From the time it arrived I haven't wanted to take it off. I find excuses to wear it and have even lounged around the house in it. The material is stretchy and breathable and super comfortable...and it's been worn nearly constantly for most of a month but hasn't lost any down. The double zip can be unzipped from the bottom for more comfort in sitting positions (wish more long coats had this feature). This is perfect for commuting and light activity in 35-50° weather. Don't think it would be a first choice in lower temps though.Sizing up (L to XL) was the right call. It's still a good fit and allows layers. The sleeves are maybe 4" too long but can be cuffed underneath. I kind of miss an inner zip pocket but ... MoreI don't write reviews but this parka really deserves one! Love this thing. Get it!

I wish I would've bought this jacket sooner!
8 December 2022

Absolutely LOVE this jacket!!! It's extremely light so doesn't weigh you down like some other jackets and yet incredibly warm especially for northern mn winter. I really like that it stretches and doesn't restrict your movement at all! It's so cute and versatile for any type of activity you're doing; whether that is a long walk or something more physically exerting! I would absolutely recommend this jacket! I would however recommend ordering a size up since it is a slim fitting jacket.

I would definitely buy this again.
13 January 2023

I love my parka!! It fits perfectly!! The only reason I gave 4 stars is because I ordered around 11:30 am on a Friday and paid for overnight shipping ($25) because they offered it but didn't get it until the following Wednesday. I called NorthFace and they said overnight shipping shouldn't have been offered to me. They were very nice and offered to reimburse the shipping cost but the reason I ordered it was to get it quickly due to the frigid temps we were anticipating for the weekend; otherwise, I would have made a trip to the NorthFace store.

It's plus-sized, but not very roomy. STAINS WHITE CLOTHING!
18 January 2023

PRO: It's definitely warm. Stylish. I've always wanted a NorthFace and was SURPRISED when I stopped by the website & saw a plus size section.CON: It's not very roomy in the chest & stomach area. I am a size 22/24. I'm able to get it zipped up, but it's a bit of a struggle. There was a tag on it when I received it that said "slim fit" which I don't remember reading in the details. THAT SHOULD BE ADDED. Also, the 1st time I wore it I was wearing a WHITE t-shirt and after I took the coat off, my shirt had been STAINED RED. I washed my shirt & of course the dye did NOT come out! VERY DISAPPOINTING. Maybe machine wash it before wearing!

Perfect weight but not water resistant
15 November 2022

I absolutely love the color, fit, and weight of this coat. The stretch makes it so comfortable and easy to move. I just learned from walking the dogs for 45 min in a wintery mix that it is not water resistant. The top I’m wearing has thick wet stripes across the chest (most fitted place). I’d expect more from North Face, especially for this price point. The color is a brighter blue than pictured but gorgeous. Only 4 stars for the lack of water resistance. Otherwise I’d give it 5.

Stylish and slim fitting coat!
7 January 2023

Love this jacket! It's a beautiful color, that's what really got me and now I want to own everything in this green! It does definitely fit slim, quite slim. I am a small or medium in tops and went with a medium in this jacket, but there is no wiggle room for thick sweaters or heavy tops, that's my reason for deducting a star. Otherwise, highly reccomend! Double zipper is an awesome feature as is the hood. Feel of the coat is very cool, not shiny and slippery, more matte.

Very nice coat
26 December 2022

This is a very nice coat, it is comfortable and warm. It was a bit longer than I expected. Something is off with the plus sizes. I ordered this originally in a 2X assuming it would give me room for a sweater. The 2X was tighter than I wanted a coat to be. I then reordered a 3X, which is a size I have never worn. This coat was more roomy, and definitely would allow you to wear a heavy sweater. If you are a true 3X, you might find it too tight. The size chart gives one set of measurements and a description of the different fits. I think you should consider giving the measurements of the different fits, because they are not the same. I do appreciated that North Face is making clothing for plus sizes.
