What Our Gearhead Experts Are Saying:"This hoodie packs big warmth in a featherweight build. I layer it under a shell on alpine missions or wear it solo on shoulder-season hikes. The FUTUREFLEECE material feels soft against the skin and never weighs me down—plus the thumb loops and helmet-compatible hood are clutch." The Summit FUTUREFLEECE Full-Zip Hoodie keeps us light, warm, and fast in the alpine. Built by The North Face as part of the Summit Series, this high-efficiency midlayer delivers next-level warmth without the bulk, thanks to its ultralight FUTUREFLEECE fabric. It’s our go-to piece when moving fast through technical terrain or pushing into exposed elevations where every ounce and layer counts. The soft, grid-knit fleece offers an impressive warmth-to-weight ratio, while the slim fit makes it a perfect pairing under shells or insulated outerwear. Underarm gussets and raglan sleeves maximize mobility, and the flatlock seams reduce chafing under a harness or pack. The minimalist hood fits comfortably under helmets, and thumb loops seal out drafts during high-output movement. This hoodie is a staple for mountaineering, glacier travel, and cold-weather ascents.

It's a nice thin (too thin) jacket to wear on cooler spring days but not great for colder fall and especially not for wintere weather. It is light weight and when I'm wearing this plus a base layer and a thinner top, then I'm warm enough but not if you're in the snow. A downside is it only has a large left breast pocket and no side pockets whatsoever. It's a cute jacket and I like this season's berry color shown but I wouldn't buy this jacket again because it's not practical as I need warm clothes. The hoodie really covers my entire head, so I look like an Olympic ice racer, not a good look for me.

I was first drawn to this because I was looking for a thin zip-up. I work outdoors for my job and have learned how important layers are. This jacket arrived and exceeded my expectations. It is thin, warm, the hood covers around my forehead and chin, and it has thumb loops (the "and it has pockets!" of outdoor winter gear for me!). And, as if it couldn't get any better, the color is beautiful! Ah, thank you, I love it!

Love the Women's Summit Series FUTUREFLEECE, Full-Zip Hoodie. I have the black hoodie too. Warm without it being overwhelmingly cushioned. Nicely fitted giving a comfortable look.

I got this as a layer for hiking and it is perfect. The full zip makes it easy for me to regulate my internal temperature without necessarily needing to stop to take the garment off. It is super lightweight and holds heat in well. I also tend to have issues with full-zip jackets because I have a shorter torso, so the lower band can be too tight. The cut on this is much more forgiving for different body types.
Brilliant product. I've replaced a warm light fleece with Futurefleece. It's much lighter weight (less bulky), and the same warmth as my HH fleece. I'm converted. Perfect as a mid layer skiing and any outdoor activities in cooler climates.
For reference, I am 5'10 and 160 lb, and my intention for this piece was to use it as a mid layer for skiing. I ordered a large and it was roomy but I wanted to be able to fit another layer underneath. I felt I was perhaps between sizes but chose to keep the large. The quality is excellent! I word out skiing and found the moisture wicking worked well and it kept me warm and dry. It's very thin, so don't expect any bulk from it. Of you want a cozy sweater, this isn't it, but it's a performance piece.
I purchased two of the hooded versions (shaded spruce and ponderosa). The exterior is a bit of a rough material so I wasn't sure if I would like the jacket/hoodie. But, the inside is fleecy, with vent square spaces between the fleece square pattern - I heat up fast when I'm working hard and I was amazed at the heat/cool regulation this pattern was able to provide. The big test I put the jacket through was trekking in Patagonia. Some days were cool and wet, some windy, and some warm. On the cool days all I needed was a base layer and this sweater. Sometimes adding my TNF Resolve jacket for rain or super windy times. I never needed my heavy warm layers. I did need to get a large to accommodate my hips. But most TNF jackets are now slim fit, which is unfortunate but I can modify my purchases to fit ok most of the time. I much prefer the old Standard style fit. Standard fit definitely helped me with sizing and layering since I'm more pear-shaped with small upper and wider hips.
Everything about this brandis perfect!!I have been buying rom them for years and have never bought inferior product.Their design is brilliant and the quality of their fabrics are brilliant especially the fleece.I know i'll be their forever customer because they have NEVER changed being a quality brand.
I'm 59 I weigh about 130 pounds. My arms are long and my shoulders are broad. I was debating on a med/sm both fit but the sm fits absolutely perfect. Snug, perf length! Definitely Worth Purchasing!!!
Average/slim fit but still true to size. Flattering fit. One front chest pocket but no side pockets unfortunately. Really thin so excellent for layering. Hood isn't adjustable.
