Sunglasses Ray-Ban Aviator Metal II RB3689 004/48

Upon receiving Ray-Ban Aviator Metal II Sunglasses the first thing I noticed was how strong and sturdy the construction of these glasses were. I've owned first gen Aviators and there is a very noticeable difference in construction and weight of the Aviator II. I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase!

I'm on the water a lot and want a polarized lens, but most are too dark for low light conditions. These provide the glare reducing qualities of polarization but still allow for adequate light transmission. If I'm wearing them and go in to a building I can still see but they also provide adequate shading outdoors in bright conditions. Another thing I like about these is the frame size. Many other aviator type frames feel huge, these feel just right ~

This 55 one fits normally on my medium-sized head. And the colour change reaction time is pretty quick as well. A definite buy if you already have the normal RB aviator models, and want something different.

Frustrated

This is the second time I have ordered prescription sunglasses from ray-ban. The first time the lenses were flawed and had to be redone. Ray-ban did get it right but the process was frustrating and took several weeks before I actually had the New sunglasses I could use. I liked my glasses so I gave Ray-ban another chance. This time the glasses lenses did not look close to the online description and the prescription sent was not correct at all. I’m sure Ray-ban would do a reorder at make this right but I was so disappointed in the fit and feel of the glasses on top of the lens issues I just returned this order and went with another brand.

Great for low-light

The blue/pink lens is great for lessening the glare when driving in fog but allowing more light at the center portion for clarity. Have worn these indoors with bright overhead lighting - they cut back on the brightness but let through enough light that it's not like wearing darker sunglasses. Heavyglare has a nice selection, good sales and great customer service.

High Quality Ray-Ban frame RX lenses - Fantastic

I always loved Ray-Ban sunglasses but when I started wearing prescription glasses I was never offered them as frames. I was astonished that my new glasses from GlassesUSA are ray-Bans with bifocal lenses that look fantastic and allow me to see perfectly all day and when reading. The quality of the glasses is better than I ever got from retail optometrist I singleqoute ve used in the past. I have recommended GlassesUSA to my brother and my wife who were skeptical that purchasing glasses on-line was a good idea.

Left temple bent (packaging issue?)

The left temple is slightly bent, unable to to bend it back in place. Pretty sure this came from the way they shipped it. They forced the one temple over the other and it stayed there in place for a few days until I unpacked it. Other than that these sunglasses are great. Clean, stylish look, they dont fall off the face easily, the polarization works really well, and they are sturdy.

Newer "take" on the Classic Ray-Ban Avia...

Newer "take" on the Classic Ray-Ban Aviator sunglasses-- the Metal II has flattened "temples" (the "ear-bars/hooks"). Slight nasal pad and ear-rest adjustments were necessary, and these sunglasses now fit comfortably. The violet lenses are easy on the eyes, and have some interesting optical properties-- some colors appear more vibrant and, in spite of the dark lens color, they function fairly well, even in crepuscular lighting conditions. 5*/A+++

No "Stainless" Metal Look Options

The gunmetal looks cheap and plasticy. There should be a stainless steel option. Not shiny, not chrome, not gunmetal/black chrome. Even worse, the sunglasses overall aren't much better feeling - in terms of weight and quality - than something you get at a gas station. What justifies their high price? On top of this, the arms on mine were not even. So no QA, either?
