Massive step up from the 161T which is essentially a light pruning saw. The 220 gives great power to a bar and chain that can chog down decent size stems with intuitive safety controls. Very pleased with my purchase and great service from the team at Gustharts.

Bought this on 4-30-22. I have used it on my 3.5 acres with amazing results. This past February, we experienced a severe ice storm and lost hundreds of oak tree branches. I bought an extra battery and have been working on clearing fallen branches. I have already stock piled at least 2 cords of wood with easily another 2 cords to cut. I am in my late 70’s and could not be any happier with the work that little saw has performed.

Just recently purchased this great saw. I have an MS 201 TC I bought for my small jobs and limbing work, but wanted an electric saw for the short calls. This fits the bill perfectly. It has the same power as her gas sister. Love the Oil light feature. The 500 battery out lasts me. If I’m going to be cutting all day the gas job takes the task, if it’s going to be just an hour of work or two, this saw with the 500 battery is perfect.
If they had a micro chain on there, they could’ve made it an inch or two longer on the bar micro chains I like very much because they slice through the wood and no I’m not just a homeowner. I’m a professional tree trimmer.
I love my gas powered Stihl chainsaws (and other units like my blower, hedge trimmer, string trimmer etc). Buy once for life. I was reluctant to move to battery powered. I needed a saw that I could use around the property that was compact and easy to run. After lots of research I decided that this unit fit the bill. Using the 500s battery it out runs me! More than enough run time and power to get the job done. Great to have one in the rotation. I will use it along side my gas farm boss depending on the job. I can see myself using the battery unit 80% of the time though.
Got through 1 walnut removal with about 25 cuts and took 8 limbs off a hedge and the battery is already dead. It's a little on the heavy side should have came with the Pico bar and chain.Maybe the battery would last longer.
This chain saw has proven to be the best smaller saw we have ever owned! It cuts through a limb like butter! And it does it quickly. We were so impressed with the chain saw, that we bought two for us, and bought one for two of our son's. They have used theirs and said it was a game changer!
I have spent the majority of my arborist career with the legendary 200T in my hands. I was skeptical of battery saws especially aloft, but then I had the opportunity to demo this saw. When used in the right application this tool is fantastic. Its single hand start is time saving, reduces fatigue and increases efficiency. The reduced noise and lack of emissions are better for my body and my family appreciates that I smell less like 2 stroke and more like sawdust 😁. Plenty of peer for most jobs.
After a lot of procrastination I finally bought the ms220tco out of necessity. I had some work to do in Oregon during extreme fire season and gas saws were under full restriction. I was able to completely remove a 100’ Douglas fir with two and a half AP500 batteries. The limbs were roped down individually and the stem was roped down in 9’ blocks over a garden and driveway. The tree measured 24”dbh and didn’t taper much. The 14” bar required complete double cuts but the saw got it done!
