I have used my parent’s one on their rural property for over a year and now have my own. It really is an essential gardener’s tool. I have been trimming branches and clearing lots of overgrown shrubs with this and has made it so easy. Very easy to use. Love it. Past issues have been chain coming off (a lot) but that is after it has been used quite heavily and probably due to a chain replacement / tightening. Beware of small twigs, vines or string that easily can get caught in the chain. It just means you have to unscrew the chain to remove all the bits.

Pretty rubbish really. I’m lucky to get a max of 10mins from the battery. And that’s from a full charge using it to chop small branches for kindling. Bought it from Stihl Putaruru in 2021 after it being recommended by a friend who loved hers. Got told that it was totally out of stock then the next day they called to say they had one so maybe I got the shelf or demo one. All I know is it’s a total waste of money and I end up using the handsaw.

Works well and is balanced. A couple of design changes needed. The chain guard has to much movement at the pivot (although tight) which allows the other end to contact the chain under certain conditions resulting in chain cutting into the guard. Secondly since there is no internal oil system, it would be a good idea to have an electronic indication based on operating time to remind you that its time to manually add lubricant to the bar and chain. Those aspects aside it works fine.

I use my gta 26 for quick limb cuts and building structures out of smaller trees. As in plunge cuts It works for my purposes.What doesn't work for my purposes is the bag. I have to keep the bag, in the box, it to keep it all together. if the bag gets moist, it looses is rigidity and those it becomes useless. I have spare parts for this unit, so I'd like to keep all pieces together.Stihl, imo, dropped the ball on what could be a better product experience. I'm in the process of searching for a better storage back for this saw.
Bought it to catch up on some way overdue pruning. Cuts through 60/70 mm branches easily, and bigger if used judiciously.My wife also had a go, I had to remind her it is an actual chainsaw.Battery runtime is a little short, so buy an additional one - they're not too spendy.I got some plastic tree tie tangled into the chain. It was easy to remove the bar and chain to get it working again.Recommended if you have a mature garden that needs a bit of grooming.
I was a little sceptical when I first researched this little saw but it's the best garden tool I've bought. Perfect for what it was designed for and the battery lasts longer than some reviews may suggest. The only criticism I have is that more thought could have gone into the design and manufacture of the carrying case. It's too flimsy. Not what you would expect from German engineers.
As an elderly woman I have used other chainsaws with trepidation, finding the petrol motors hard to start, fiddly to fuel and the over all weight the saw almost too much to manage so when I picked up my Stihl GTA 26 and was able to cut branches almost as easily as using dressmaking shears I was hooked. I have pruned 6 metre high Eucalyptus and limbed the 70mm branches with ease and my hands and arms have not been impacted by vibration as they are with the larger chain saws. As long as I blow out any accumulated sawdust and twigs I can keep on working without interruption. If a blockage does occur it is easy to unscrew the cover and clear the chain and re-assemble. I've owned since I was 24 a small 2 stroke 17inch Stihl chainsaw When I passed this chainsaw onto my eldest son the saw was then over 40 years old and its still going well. Today I don't need a full chainsaw but this recently acquired STIHL GTA 26 Battery Pruner Kit With Battery & Charger is just what I need in the environment I now live, trees, shrubs odd jobs with wood construction and the likes, it's just amazing. I find this is the perfect and most handy tool ever to keep established Rhododendron, Camelia and similar sized trees and shrubs trimmed and looking great easily. Well done Dr Stihl and your team designing and manufacturing such innovated and quality products.
Great little pruner, tough, pretty gutsy for 10volts, lovely little cutter. Very easy to maintain the chain and running gear. Light and well balanced for easy one-handed performance. Handles 50 - 60mm diameter branches with ease, has to work hard at anything larger, but it is designed for pruning, not felling! Very satisfied with this well designed, functional product.
While we saw some mixed reviews online (mostly by professional contractor types), we've found this mini chainsaw perfect for our lifestyle block. Bought a second battery to ensure we don't run out mid job. It cuts through surprisingly large branches, and is perfect for pruning and shaping our fruit trees.
