The Stanley FatMax BladeArmor Tape has a Mylar coated steel blade with both metric and imperial graduations and an impressive stand out of 3.35 metres. The Mylar coated blade is up to 10 times more resistant to abrasion than normal lacquered blades. Its high-impact ABS plastic case has an over sized rubberised bumper, to prolong the life of the hook. With rubber over mould to deliver additional comfort and control, whilst also increasing durability and impact resistance. The 3-rivet, corrosion resistant, tru-zero hook allows for accurate inside and outside measurements. I like this tape measure because of its length. Also, it has the inch and cm markings on the same side - you do not have to turn it over.Also it has three rivets connecting the end piece which gives an accurate reading.Being a wide tape, it keeps its straightness when extended which makes it easy to use.

I've invested in this twin pack twice. Once for a friend and once for myself. In my eyes as a trades man there not the real McCoy. As any trades man that uses the fat max tapes know that the blade on them is good and strong but sadley not the case with these ones. The blade is flimsy and won't even reach 2 metres before it falls. The original fat max will roll out to 3 meters each with out snapping. I thought I was getting a bargain but not to be. There not the real fat max. They are better than your average 8m tape but not fat max.

It's easy to read as the tape width allows larger characters. The width also allows the tape to be deployed unsupported for quite a distance which is useful.The length of the tape allows more accurate measuring of long items - ie not having to mark and move the tape.The tape lock works well but needs to be kept clean for it to work properly.

Massively overbuilt tape measure! Yes, it is exceptionally masculine and weighs a ton. But, the lock lever is so tough, that I have given up ever actually operating it! Glides out very smoothly and will extend loads without bending. But, clip it onto your belt, or pocket as I do, and you'll be walking with a bad-boy limp because it weighs so much. I didn't even need an 8M tape! Should have gone with the 5M, and been happy with that.
This is my second fat-max tape as I lost my previous one. I can't look past this particular design with the rubber half casing, nice weight and clear making on the tape. Lock works perfectly and the reel pulls in well with the tape hook being perfectly adequate. Good tape measure for the price.
My previous trusty tape lasted many years of abuse including dropping from scaffold before final breaking after if fell off my belt!Great reach of 3.5-4m, decent hook and printed measurements last well.Bought another... hope it lasts as well.
If youβre careful this tape will stretch out unsupported horizontally for at least 4m, great for measuring on your own.I like the fact that it has metric markings on both edges- great for marking up from either end.Solid stop, no sharp edges to cut yourself, long lasting: can be dropped, kicked, soaked and buried yet still works a treat.This is my third generation, theyβve never failed, only needing replacement when iβve cut through or lost them!
Hi guys - nothing wrong with the tape - its actually as described - I should have spent more time reading the product details though rather than have been persuaded by the excellent price. I actually wanted a pocket STANLEY to replace my favourite item that I had mislaid - this tape is definitely a clip on the belt or carry in the tool box size. That was my error !! It is however very good - it has very clear markings in both imperial and metric and is most accurate. The hook is practical the extension and retraction is strong and not too fast although until its worn in not yet single finger operation. A good workmans tape for the money. Oh guess what - my lost tape turned up in my loft - discovered the same day the new one arrived - twas always thus !!!
Easy read tape. Clear lines to mm. And blade guard helps. Tape that will last a year not a few days! Silver model is worth the extra pounds if Carpenter or Joiner. And get 8m. . 5m will break if over stretched ! Best top tip don't lend it out ! Treasure this one and it will last ! Stanley do make a good tape . Andy
I bought this Fat Max as a replacement and it is exactly what I need to measure big items when I do quotes for work. Stanley quality is always tops and I won't hesitate to recommend it to you!
