I originally bought the Beam to improve the sound from my TV and the increase in sound quality was significant! I then added the Sub Mini and while it didn't add a great deal for watching TV, it really does add to the quality when listening to music. Finally, I added two Era 100s as surrounds and the sound is absolutely epic! The system is in a small-medium sized bedroom and the sound at any point in the room is really high quality. Obviously, as per the pictures, each speaker is really slick looking, and the set up is very easy with the Sonos app. My only negative is that connection over wireless does drop very regularly. I have strong WiFi, but apparently my Sky Box causes interference, which can cause problems with connection. Rebooting the router seems to solve the problem, but it's a bit annoying doing this on a regular basis.

Sonos is great but it takes some IT sophistication and knowledge, mid party or experience it can go wrong and when you have 9 speakers in the system, the reset is very energetic. Integration with apps is okay, not more than okay. BUT I spent hours, days, weeks digitising my collection and through ITunes so now I have dedicated iPad for music. It takes an effort to make music a GENRE, you can miss selected music experience. I've tied my music to Apple/IOS of which I am a fan, but I need to work hard to change "Album Info". It is more complicated than it needs to be, but the tech is emerging. Well done SONOS I do have a multi room, garden, pool and holiday speaker wire free system ( as long as my music iPad is with me). Fell in love with Sonos a few years ago while visiting a relative. Finally decided to get my own. I followed the instructions in the quick start guide. The "Beam" was found by the Sonos app and setup was a breeze. The frustration came when the app didn't recognize the "One's". The problem ended up being that the "One's" needed to be factory reset even though they were purchased new that day. I was about 5 minutes from boxing them back up and returning them when I found the solution. I would give a 5 stars rating on sound quality alone. Sonos products are pricey, but the sound quality justifies the price. The disappointing part is when you pay for pricey products and the setup isn't as easy as the 2-step easy start guide says it is.
My previous home theater system (Vizio 5.1) had a blown sub speaker, and the rattling was driving me nuts. But, I endured it for several months, because I was lazy, and also because I didn't want to waste money on another "bargain" of a home theater system. But, when my 70" 4K TV started to go out, I bought a new OLED TV, and decided I needed an equally immersive sound system. I did a lot of research, and decided on the Beam 2. I only bought the Beam 2 sound bar (No sub or rear speakers). It performed well, was very easy to setup, and produced crystal clear sound and clear dialog, even in scenes with loud sound effects, something none of my other previous systems did very well. I spent several years, trying in vain to adjust levels to allow me to hear the dialog in action movies. But, despite the quality of the Beam's sound performance, something was missing. The room where my home theater system is located is it family room, which is connected to the kitchen, making it very wide (approximately 40'), and approximately 18' deep. The Beam soundbar sounded great, but lacked sufficient bass on its own, and the surround sound performance was good, but not nearly as immersive as I was hoping for. At $450, I guess I was expecting too much from a lone sound bar.Don't get me wrong, the Beam 2 is high quality, but to fill a room with immersive sound, I'm a firm believer that you have to have a subwoofer and rear speakers, unless you have a very small room. So, I broke down and reluctantly coughed up the $750 for the Sonos subwoofer and another $400 for two One SL speakers to function as the rear surround speakers. Oh, and I also spent the $65 for the wall mounts for the One SL's.I'm so glad I did. Despite the large investment, I definitely made the right decision. With the sub and rear speakers, this system rocks my family room. The surround and Atmos performance is very immersive, and I'm thrilled with the whole setup.
I currently have the Beam 2 paired with two eta 100sand a sub mini. First and foremost know and learn your Sonos app features. The sound is incredible and so lifelike. Hearing movies come to life is incredible! I would have went with the arc and era 300 and gen 3 sub but size was very limited. For the size hands down I could have not be happier. Music sounds so rich with sub mini and brilliant highs &mids. The sub mini will not shake your walls and furniture. That being said it's a brilliant subwoofer that performs a high quality low end bass. For music it's so detailed andrich. With movies 🎥 you will feel like you're actually there. Thank you sonos for building a product that lives up to the hype!!'
I use it to watch movies, hear music, watch OTT/streaming content and live sports everything from a big screen or TV. I loved its superior audio quality, especially its ability to manage low, mid and high frequency ranges so impeccably with no distortion. Love the oomph and the bass created by Sub mini. I sometimes have issues in waiting for the individual units to connect to each other via WiFi when turned on. I once had to reset connections and set it up all over again. Trueplay is also now available on latest iPhone models so thats a plus. Would like the Sonos app to support the same set of speakers in multi profile arrangements e.g. just the sub mini and beam 2 or the beam 2 and surrounds only, etc.
I was looking to upgrade my existing soundbar and also was looking to an alternative to chromecast for multi-room audio.I had been following the Sonos line up for a while and was originally looking at the arc, sub gen 3 and ones combination but thought it would be overkill for my small apartment (plus I'm not sure if my neighbours would appreciate the boom and rumble the sub gen 3 would bring).Reviews of the beam were generally good and then the sub mini was released, then the era 100s, so I took it as a sign to give this setup a go. I do not regret my decision! After getting it home and tweaking the settings and EQ, this setup kicks, atmos in movies sounds great, music sounds crystal clear with me hearing things I didn't hear with my previous soundbar. After getting it home and tweaking the settings and EQ, this setup kicks, atmos in movies sounds great, music sounds crystal clear with me hearing things I didn't hear with my previous soundbar. The sub mini provides more than enough bass for my apartment, I even have to turn it down sometimes because of the amount of bass it can produce. The arc and sub gen 3 setup would have definitely been overkill for my apartment after living with my current setup. This beam, sub mini and era 100s have won me over, so now I'm looking at replacing all my other speakers I have in other rooms of my apartment with Sonos speakers to get the seamless multi-room audio experience.Only criticism is that the music streaming services I use (Amazon Music and Youtube Music), their integration within the Sonos app isn't as comprehensive nor user friendly as the using the native apps themselves. Hoping this improves over time with software updates.
I'm using the Beam as a wall-mounted speaker for my living room. Half the time I'm using it for TV, but half the time I'm using it for listening to music and podcasts on Spotify. I will say that the build quality is great. The speaker sounds awesome, build quality is premium, and my guess is there's some fancy digital processing to tune the speakers for the enclosure and give a very full, balanced, high-quality sound.Since for whatever reason, they did not include Bluetooth (what a foolish decision), you're forced to control the speaker from Spotify over your network rather than stream the audio directly from your phone. This would be fine if it worked well this way. Unfortunately: It's quite buggy and does not work well for this. This would be fine if it worked well this way. Unfortunately: It's quite buggy and does not work well for this. If I'm streaming using the Spotify app, it will play one thing but then not follow my Spotify queue and then freeze the Spotify app. There seems to be a conflict between the Sonos app's interface with Spotify (which has limited, but not full, Spotify functionality since it lacks features that the native Spotify app has), and the Spotify app. After I play a podcast in Spotify using the Sonos as a speaker, the Sonos app then takes over and adds things to the queue instead of letting Spotify maintain control. You have to manually dive into the Sonos app and "end session" before you can play your next selection in Spotify.Three starts for the combination of the unit not allowing Bluetooth sound but then being buggy trying to stream music they way they designed. Physical build, 5/5, but software (and choice to exclude Bluetooth) is a 2/5.
These days, restricting WiFi to the 2.4GHz band can cause issues, especially with a mixed network with a 5GHz band. My devices had a lot of trouble connecting to the Beam from the Sonos app when the devices were on 5GHz on the same network. Connecting took over a minute, if it succeeded at all. Firmware updating constantly failed as did adding music services or voice assistants. I wired the Beam to Ethernet and all the problems instantly vanished. Connection was instant and everything just worked. My suggestion for the next version is to support both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, and possibly 6GHz for the new WiFi 6e standard. One other issue I had was with NFC configuration. It would not work with my iPhone 13 Pro Max at all, and I had to rely on sound pings for my initial setup. I had seen online that that particular phone had issues, including with Trueplay, but I had no problems with Trueplay. It worked just fine. The Beam itself is an awesome sound bar for the price point. It sounds great and is a pleasure to have once I hooked it up to Ethernet. I especially appreciate its excellent voice clarity and bass. The bass, while not jaw dropping, is good enough that I am not even tempted to buy the $750 subwoofer. As someone with so-so hearing, the exceptional voice clarity was a blessing. If you have a TV with low clearance (the sound bar is slightly taller than the bottom of the viewable screen on my LG C2 42), you might need a riser to raise the TV an inch or so.My review may seem overly critical for a four star review, but I wanted to tell potential buyers of the problems I ran into. The star rating is on the quality of the sound bar. It really is excellent with just a few setup problems. If you don't have multiple bands on your WiFi or if you have wired Ethernet, you will likely never see most of these issues.
